The 3rd place kickoff results have been updated in the Cup spreadsheet. In another really enthralling encounter, Spain managed to defeat England by JUST ONE goal. So close yet so far to a podium finish for under-dogs England. Congratulations Spain.

GRAND FINALE PREVIEW

Gameweek 12 is here, alas! And that means spirited Argentina will faceoff against heavyweights New Zealand. It will be a fitting finale as the specialists in performances on and off the park come up against a team who were favorites right from the start and rightfully claim themselves to be the Deadzone Dream Team.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, sports fans and once again the Kiwis!

Welcome the bathe Hockey World Cup 2014 Final!

It feels like eons ago that we bid adios to the Spaniards in GW 10 prior to the international break but it's given plenty of time for our lethal strategists, our very own SAS, Super Captains Spectrum and VC Sunny to plot the demise of New Zealand once again.

By our reckoning having already beaten them we should have just been handed the trophy but with our Gauchomaniac fans from around the world descending on The Hague to watch us one last time, and the fact that we still have loads of bog roll left over to chuck, we thought..."what the hell, let's do this...Vamosssss"!!!!

We have already learnt priceless lessons from this weekends rival finalists NZ, dubbed the DZ dream team, we know to never assume it's over until Susan Boyle sings... This will not be a walk in the park! (© Billy Gilmore). We wish NZ well and in the spirit of what has been a fantastic tourney we know the game will be played with good spirit and friendly banter.

It's been quite a journey for the great Gauchos. A rag tag mob of "rookies" and unknowns". We were written off early doors and didn't have the best start in the pre tourney friendly V India but we have gone from strength to strength. The comradery, unity and team spirit has been unlike any other squad I've been part of. I couldn't have been more lucky with the squad I'm proud to manage and the best Captain and VC in the business who we owe so much thanks for their tireless work. We've forged solid bonds that should see us with buddies we can always rely on for those niggling fpl questions and doubts in GW's and seasons to come.

We'd like to thank ENR, Pratik and Billy for all their hard work and making this possible, we'd like to thank all the players, managers who made the tourney what it was.

This presser maybe somewhat anticlimactic after all those JM awards but the mood is somewhat melancholic to be gracing the turf with these fine Gauchos once again. That and the fact that we've already rinsed them once and that it's being hastily typed on a phone, sheltering from the rain in a half erected marquee in Cardiff waiting to unload a lorry! The Kiwis come here today to face the welsh, I don't fancy the valley boys chances too much today but we'll see if we can't get one over the New Zealanders today to make sure they don't have it entirely their own way!
