Our next members article assessing the previous season takes a look at Sunderland’s campaign, with most of the focus on the impact of new manager, Dick Advocaat.

Following a 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in March, the Dutchman replaced Gus Poyet at the helm, with his side sitting 17th in the league, just a single point clear of the relegation places. Advocaat guided the Black Cats to a 16th-place finish, after picking up three wins and three draws from their final nine matches, with their survival clinched in Gameweek 37 after a goalless draw at the Emirates. After initially turning down an offer to stay on at the Stadium of Light, the Dutchman signed a one-year deal to remain in the North East.

    I have £0.5 to spend, how should I spend it?

    Ozil -> Fabregas
    Mane -> Depay/Mata (or other £8.5m)
    Coates -> Cedric
    Hennessey -> Butland

    Schmeichel, Hennessey;
    Azpilicueta, Koscielny, Coates, S. Taylor, M. Turner;
    Hazard, Walcott, Ozil, Mane, Mutch;
    Rooney, Lukaku, Sakho.

    Also I'm not really sure on my choice of £4.0m and £4.5m players but I'm quite happy with the others; just a few tweaks needed I feel!

    I made RMT few times but my last draft is enourmous 326,46 . I usually have something like 313 - 315.

    Does anybody have bigger?
    And do you care about the score?

      I got 333 with a team but wouldn't start with it.
      Pick a team you are happy with. RMT score won't win you FPL.

    As an American - is UFPL utter madness for me?
    How often do you have to monitor Sunday line-ups/make last minute subs?

    I'd love to play it and learn more about the EPL/watch more games

      UFPL is banned for USA players. You would only need to worry about the early game each day.

      UFPL is pretty time consuming if you want to play it correctly. You'll need to be monitoring your squad and line ups on every match day. The deadline for the whole match day is generally half an hour before the first game of the day and it re opens for changes an hour after the last game of the day. I personally think it's the most enjoyable game and would definitely help you learn everything you need to know about the English game but it takes a fair bit of your weekend up!

        I would disagree on the simple basis that I spend hours every week planning my FPL team, future transfers etc.
        UFPL doesn't have that, once you have your squad picked, it's pick your 18, changes when you log in after the Saturday game & final tweak if needed on the Sunday based on line up news.
        Maybe that's just me. 🙂

      They need a CB, without question, and it is a problem that they must solve.

      A back up striker would be nice, but is not as big an issue. Most important for them this window was a CDM/DM, a CB and a RB, 2 of which they've bought so far.

              Mids are great but I'd rather douple up on the Arsenal mids than our mids. GW4 is the time to load up on city I think.

      I'd stick or else you'll be playing one of Wilson or Wanyama each week.
      Aguero is killing your team with Rooney in the main.

        Every RMT I see with him in is followed by 'ugh, not Lukaku' really puts me off looking at him.

        But I think if it wasn't for this site I would seriously be considering him, so is there actually any substance behind it?

          Yeah, i don't understand it either. And he's actually on pens for the start of the season this time. Maybe it's just their overall opening fixtures, or the fact he's burnt them in the past. The guy scores goals though, can't argue with his record

            People think I'm against buying Lukaku

            i;m not

            I;m against selling him

            Lukaku blanks for weeks on end before he does anything, and you can be sure the week he does something is the week you sold him

            Hence, don't sell him

              Do you remember his loan spell at West Brom? That was great, in terms of regularity of goals and not "blanking for weeks". Could still be that kind of option again

                Maybe

                I remember him costing Evs FPL with that GW38 hattie

                I;d have to see more from Everton as well. They were at the bottom end of the league for chances created for most of last season :Lukaku isn't the sort of striker that needs 1-2 chances to score.

                    It's possible of course but I'd still want to see more evidence that Everton are creating chances before buying him, especially with that run from GW2-11

                    I watched them at times last season and they were literally just not passing to him

                    Delefeou, Mirallas, Barkley.

                    That team is full of players who don't know how to pass

    Will Forestieri do well for Watford? Saw that he got 5 goals and 4 assists in 10 starts and that he is the most skilled in the Watford squad when hes fit apparently? At 4.5 could prove to be a bargain...

    Rooney or Kane? Kane young + hungry, can score against any team, excellent movement and plays for a top 5/6 side + 1 mil cheaper than a relatively inconsistent Rooney.

    Sterling, Walcott, Fabregas, Payet - Is that a good enough midfield? Up front at the minute I have Kane, Aguero, Forestieri, considering Ighalo.

    Francis/Prodl/Huth/Ward/Coates

    Silva/Hazard/Chadli/Payet/Wanyama
