The recent departure of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool has deprived both Jurgen Klopp and Fantasy managers of a top class midfield talent.

Prior to his transfer to Barcelona, the Brazilian had been in sparkling form, supplying seven goals and six assists in just 1,100 minutes of top-flight action. Yet with the Merseysiders now facing the prospect of enduring the latter half of 2017/18 without the playmaker, how are our evaluations of their other key attacking assets impacted?

This week’s Technical Area will examine how Liverpool’s key options have fared with and without the Brazilian, in an attempt to inform our expectations of their performances and value moving forward.

      I brought in Lingard for Eriksen this week as have Son & Kane for Spurs. Completely up to you about the Lingard transfer, i think he scores more than Eriksen this week on current form and fixture.

      Would you think of doing Rich to Lingard? Or you banking the funds to do one of the upgrades? Who do you think you would bring in Alonso or Aguero? I'm in the same boat and am 50:50

        Unfortunately I can't drop Rich as I wont have enough to upgrade - even though Watford haven't been great his next 3 fixtures look like they could produce goals so I'm hoping he can finally score a goal now he is a differential in my ML.

        And I think i'm swinging towards Aguero for the short term at least! but I might try and find a way to upgrade Christensen into Alonso too.

      I have him too and am looking to get rid. Nothing to do with Couts but just feel he rotates with TAA too much (like the Spurs FBs) and with VVD signed up he prob would get any gametime CB.

      You know when you watch a match and a player sticks out for you as genius, well Gomez has done just that for me lately.

      If he was nailed he would be a shoe in for me now VVD is there to solidify their defence. I'm still sitting on this decision untill after the Citeh game. VVD or Gomez?

      Short term loss, medium term gain moat likely, with Spurs' 3 tough fixtures, so if you're planning to keep whoever you get long term it could be worth it

    Just looked at fplstatistico and a bit depressed!

    My captain picks have been so bad, if I'd used vc every week I'd be 118 points better off.

    I'm currently ranked 8k-ish 78 points off top 100. 🙁

        I never start off well, but I'm up there this year despite terrible captains.

        My sub gk has outscored playing gk 7 times too!

          I hear ya about the rotating GK's and (c)/(vc) differences but to be fair we're never going to get them right every week. Especially the Kane (c) blanking home to an easy team with Salah (vc) scoring a brace. Tough to take but what can ya do.

            It all evens out over time I suppose.

            Failed captain choice (especially kane) has often been the popular choice too. I had lukaku pen miss and some hazard blanks too, so not as damaging as it might have been.

    See many people here intending to play their FH in GW28 or GW31. Anyone reckon it'd be better utilized in GW35 ?

      Assuming City, Chelsea and United go deep in the FA Cup, or at least reach the quarters / semis, that should set them up with a DGW34 and possibly DGW37, while having blank weeks in GW31 and GW35.
      So a pre-GW33 wildcard would set you up with players from all 3 teams to take advantage right into GW37, with a GW35 FH to remove them temporarily

        Seems a great plan if all planets align - the problem may be if Man C have already won the title by then (likely) and the others have secured CL spots, they may concentrate on the FA Cup / Europe (if they are still in it) and rotate heavily in PL.

        Key is (as ever) to keep all options open - those without both FH chips and WC are in for a rough ride!

          But if rotation is heavy, surely its best to use WC early to maximise profits over several GWs when things should be more certain. Else you may be more likely to waste your chips? ...used mine this week as a means to beef squad with players less likely to rotate up to crazy time.

    I did Richarlison to Pogba, felt like he had to go even though I might regret it now. I took Pogba over Lingard, dont really know if hes worth the extra money but I have a feeling regarding Pogba and it is a good one 🙂 I am giving Morata one more chance even though he does not deserve it, this GW I should have done Morata --> Aguero.

    Also all these "stats" being thrown around, such as, 3.2 big chances per match instead of 2.8 etc could do with a statistical significance test to show if they are really worth noting as meaningfully different.
