Friday lunchtime has us turn to the Sky Sports game as we take a look back at the previous set of fixtures, before preparing you for the forthcoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 23 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

Fixture MoTM
Huddersfield vs West Ham Marko Arnautovic
Watford vs Southampton Troy Deeney
Newcastle vs Swansea Kyle Bartley
Crystal Palace vs Burnley Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Chelsea vs Leicester Harry Maguire
West Brom vs Brighton Craig Dawson
Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Son Heung-min
Bournemouth vs Arsenal Callum Wilson
Liverpool vs Man City Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Man United vs Stoke Paul Pogba

Harry Maguire (11%) was the most popular player to win the accolade in Gameweek 23.

The Leicester City defender has successive clean sheets ahead of a favourable three fixtures (WAT eve SWA) and a trip to Man City before the Overhaul becomes active.

The twinkle-toed centre-back has two goals and two MoTM awards for the season, so could be a wise addition.

The second most owned player featured is Paul Pogba (10%); his 16-point Monday night haul will have been captained by many Fantasy managers, making the Frenchman’s impact probably the most significant in the Gameweek.

Gameweek 23 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 35 points or more in bonus for the season.

ITB: 1.7
Transfers remaining: 13/40
Last week’s points: 77
Overall points: 1928
Rank: 190th

Notes

A slight drop in rank despite a respectable 77 points – mainly due to Paul Pogba netting 32 points as captain for my rivals – until then I’d been hovering just outside the top 100.

I missed out on Pogba, but Phil Jones still got 14 points and I kept a transfer back, so I’m in a fairly good place considering that I’m attempting to bank my trades ahead of the February Overhaul in four weeks’ time.

One transfer I’m very glad I made was to bring Mohamed Salah back into my squad – despite initially considering waiting until this coming Gameweek.

The Egyptian netted 13 points and is so highly-owned it would have killed my overall rank had I not backed down. However, removing Christen Eriksen could still hurt me on Sunday as the Dane has sustained his convincing form.

As mentioned, I’m hoping to make it to the Overhaul without spending any further transfers.

But some players are on thin ice, with Jonjoe Kenny and Nick Pope possibly losing their first-team berths soon, while Eden Hazard, David Silva and Andreas Christensen have had their minutes limited of late.

If I have to use a couple then so be it, but if I can get to Gameweek 28 with 11 or more, I’ll be very happy, given the average transfer data listed above.

Captain Plan
Sat 20th – De Bruyne (NEW)
Sun 21st – Kane (sot)
Mon 22nd – Salah (swa)

Would you guys swap Ramsey for Lanzini?
With Ramsey back, I'm thinking he will play as part of the front 3 instead of either Iwobi or Welbeck.
But Lanzini takes corners, free-kicks, perhaps even penalties and West Ham are quite strong atm.

Noble tends to take pens when he's on the pitch, but Lanzini definitely dominates the rest of the dead balls. While he remains in a free roll behind Arnie he's definitely a good option. I have Arnie but would definitely be looking at Lanzini if I didn't.

But would you replace Ramsey with him? Can't guite seem to make up my mind, as they are both good options.

Tough choice. If it was Arnie vs Ramsey I'd probably go Arnie. I assume you are an Arsenal fan from your username? My only concern is that does Ramsey go straight back into the side after injury? Will Xhaka and Wilshere be retained with Ozil and Iwobi either side of Laca? Has Wenger played Ramsey up in a three much or is he more likely to be played back in the two. You might be able to answer the question more than me. For what it's worth I'm weighing up Lanzini/Ramsey/Mahrez in TFF.

Even if there is a difference in points between the two over the next 6 weeks I can't see it being much. West Ham have better fixtures but can they keep their scoring rate up?

          1. Dion D's Solo Shower
            • 8 Years
            8 years, 7 months ago

I am an Arsenal fan, yeah. And exactly, could i afford a straight swap for Arnie I would do it in a heartbeat.
I'm concerned about his playing time as well. He has been deployed on the RW before and with Iwobi and Welbeck's form being pretty shit, I could see Wenger doing it again. However Wenger and I aren't exactly seeing eye to eye this season....
But yeah, hopefully there won't be too much of a difference in points between them, they both got good fixtures ahead of them. Think I'll stick with Ramsey for now, save the FT.

I think that's the right choice. Have you just bought him or held him throughout his injury? He was really good before he got injured but he was playing through the middle with the licence to join the attach. He's certainly a good option and a nice differential, the fixtures are good for arsenal too. If you were deciding which to sign I would go Lanzini, however I wouldn't waste a transfer on two quite similar players.

The only thing is that it's likely Ramsey will have a blank GW28. Lanzini will be away at Anfield so might only get a 2 pt anyway. Depends how many City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal players you have. You might want to move early or save the FT for a mini wildcard.

I think Ward dropped to 4.7 today. Once Burnley are through their bad fixtures I'd be looking at him. Duffy or Dunk are options too, they could keep a clean sheet against Chelsea and have good fixtures after.

    Which pair would you prefer?

    A) Ederson + Mustafi
    B) Courtois + Stones (already have Alonso)

I reckon Mustafi is a bigger Aerial threat than Stones, but less likely to get cs compared to Chelsea. Also reckon Courtois will get more save points than Ederson. So surely B is the right choice? Will have 0.2 to spend if it turns out Stones is not nailed

        Courtois (Peirera)
        Alonso Stones Jones Gomez Goldson
        Salah Sterling Pogba Arnautovic Caroll
        Aguero Firmino Vardy

0.2 itb... I think im good for the dgw. Only te i transfers to get Kane back etc

    Who to play for Salah?

    A) Depoitre
    B) Kenny
    C) Ogbonna

    Adrian (Elliot)
    Alonso, Otamendi, Jones, Holgate (ogbonna)
    Salah, Sterling, Son, Lingard (RLC)
    Kane, Aguero (Depoitre)

I have two FT's and 0.4 itb, really want to get Arnie in for RLC but can't see where or how to make up the 2m as I want to keep existing mf, and play 5 in midfield, should I downgrade otamendi and to who?

    DDG
    Ota Azpi Creswell
    Arnie Salah Sterling Son Lingard
    Firmino Kane

    Elliot Simpson Mariappa Quaner

Would it be crazy to go Kane > Aguero after this GW and to bring him back afterwards with a wildcard (GW 28-30)

Are there any add ons or any other way to see mini league captain data for GW’s that have past?

Not just rumours, see link from 'Lingardium Leviosa' above

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: 'Virgil was back yesterday and completely fine. We have a few problems with players feeling ill or unwell'.

Looks like several have been affected.
