Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Please RMT. I have the following seup, but and have to fill remaining mid with 4.5s

    De Gea/Fabianski
    Tomkins/Robertson/Lascelles/Mendy/Zanka
    Salah/Richarlison/BSilva/x/x
    Aguero/Firmino/Arnie

    9.0m left for mid.

I wouldn't have both DDG and Fab. You could save 0.5 on goalies by having on non-playing like Hamer (4.0). Lascelles is a problem as Newcastle have terrible opening fixtures. Also maybe consider a cheaper defender like Wan-Bissaka for 4.0. 2 x 4.5 in midfield will cost you. I would upgrade a 4.5 mid to Cairney for 5.0 or even Fraser 5.5. Good luck

Agree with the above - you're not going to bench DDG, so save the 0.5m or downgrade him to rotate with Fabs.

If you can save at the back to leave 10m for those two mid slots it's looking good.

    Fab
    Jones - Lowton - Cedric
    Mane - Eriksen - Willian - B Silva
    Auba - Kun - King

Subs: Speroni (or any 4.0), Lowe, Schlupp, Murphy (Cardiff)
0 ITB. shooting for 3-4-3 formation. Captaincy between Mane/Eriksen/Auba/Kun depending on form and fixture.

OK team or startover? any suggestions?

Same frontline as me, as much as I rate Salah I think not having him allows for a lot more across the squad. I'd maybe downgrade Willian to someone like Richarlison and use that money in defence.

I think Kane could be a worthwhile differential. Away at a chaotic Newcastle - if it wasn't august we'd all be expecting a hat trick from him.

Kane has scored 100+ goals in the premier league over the last 4 seasons, whereas Salah has had one outstanding season.

    Ederson Ryan
    Mendy Wan-Bissaka Coleman Alexander-Arnold Lowton
    Murphy Sigurdsson Sánchez Mané Masuaku
    Tosun Agüero Firmino

Is having Salah worth missing out on players with a full pre-season doing well?

I just swapped out Arnutavic for Firmino - Salah for Sanchez - A-Arnold for Cedric and feels like it improves my team, any thoughts? I will be putting in Kane after he shows some form post GW3 and would be impossible to have him Salah and Aguero by the looks of it.

Thanks. Watford could get off to a decent start. Good fixtures - punt but Holebas is nicely flagged at the mo so think low ownership and a possible way to .1 rise early on if they get a CS or two.

I have gone with no Salah as I don’t think he will match his output from last year and the money is better spent elsewhere, can get him in with 2 transfers if needed.

Sanchez more of a placeholder for Hazard/KDB, but like his fixtures early.

Looks good. To be honest, I think it's crazy going without Sarah. His output may not match last season but I don't think he will be that far off. Plus, with the fixtures and ownership I wouldn't take the risk. If he has any points at all and you don't own him it will be red arrows due to ownership alone..

It came down to Salah+Arni V Sanchez/Hazard+Laca. I believe that over the first 5 GW’s the Sanchez/Hazard and Laca will score more.

It also allows me to have TAA instead of another 5.0 def

one thing people are forgetting with Mane - he gets naff-all bonus points!
and another thing people are forgetting is rotation of the better teams - you need a couple of half decent subs for when the gaffer decides to give a player a week off for no apparent reason.

Don't like Tompkins + AWB. Means you'll have to play CPL if subs needed in defence. Everton uber is good. Had that since start but decided on Ederson + 4.0 in case Tosun/Coleman get going.

Looks good, hows about taking Arnie out for GW 1 as with double Liverpool defence you'll be hoping for a CS ...... take a GW punt and get Arnie back in later IMO.

Yeah good thinking Bournemouth week after, might just keep him in for a 2 pointer

Nice team. I didn't want Alisson in goal to free up a potential Liverpool spot later but otherwise looks good

Joe Hart to Burnley, done deal, 4.5m, nailed on?

He couldn't displace Adrian when he was at West Ham, so surely Heaton will take the no.1 spot when he's back from injury (which should only be a few weeks away)?

Hart was a solid keeper but now his confidence is the problem. Sadly makes me want to avoid Burnley defence for a bit.

I'm going camping with the kids for a few days, so I won't have internet access or the chance to do much more in the way of tinkering (which is probably a blessing). How does this look as my starting team?

    Patricio
    Robertson | Mendy | Luiz | Bertrand
    Salah | Mane | Eriksen | Jota
    Aguero | King

    Norris | Billing | AWB | Kamara

Looks fine to me. I'm so tempted with Eriksen but can't stretch my defence to get him over Mahrez.

      Where you off to?

Jolly good. Will be lovely in this weather (assuming it's anything like Derbyshire)

Thanks....it's bad timing though, I won't be home in time for the FNF. Maybe I'll be able to sneak a couple of hours at a nearby pub that has the match on.

I've got this for now, not happy with the keeper situation. Thoughts?

Got 4.5 keeper with 4m bench
Mendy, Robertson and 3 rotating cheap defenders
Mane, Eriksen, Bsilva, Jota and Mata
    Aguero, Firmino and Zaha

    Considering:
Changing Zaha to whatever cheap and upgrading to DDG and one more premium defender

Will trade BSilva to Ramsey or Mhki in gw3

I think your team is pretty good as it is for a non-Salah side. GKs are fine. I have Patricio 4.5 and Hamer 4.0 and am happy with it. 2 premium defenders also looks good. I'd also keep Zaha. Upgrading midfield is my aim.

this is very different... not sure on the double newcastle... also dont brighton have a horrible start? pogba may not play the first couple, and auba has a tough start... its a decent non-template team but i think a few changes needed
