Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Please tear my team to shreds

    Fabianski
    Mendy - Robertson - Hoedt
    J.Murphy - Salah - Mane - Richarlison
    Aguero - Aubameyang - King

    (Boruc - McDonald - Bednarek - Wan-Bissaka)

    My remaining decisions are basically:
Do I go Ryan or Fabianski in GK?
I need one 5m and one 4.5m MID - currently on Josh Murphy and McDonald but happy to listen to other suggestions

    Hi everyone! Please RMT:

    Fabianski | Foster
    Robertson | Luiz | Schlupp | Doherty | Peltier
    Sanchez | Mane | BSilva | Richarlison | Stephens
    Aguero | Auba | Austin

I dont have Salah, but I do have 3 good captain options in Sanchez, Aguero and Auba. Austin is risky, but I really rate him as a fantasy asset. Fingers crossed he starts. Thoughts?

Really like it, very similar to mine. May I suggest having a set and forget keeper? For the price, you may as well spend 8.5m on them as 4.5m keepers offer the best value. That could give you 0.5m to upgrade a defender, say Luiz to Mendy?

When i watched the CS, everything seems to go through him, so can see him getting an assist or two, although most times he will be the pass before the assist. Clean sheet, 90 mins, 3 pts, with bonus potential for passes and tackles. As a benched player, not sure who will outscore him for 5 or less?

I had sanchez in from day 1 until after the Bayern game. They are in a mess and to me he's always been lazy. If I get him, I would have to captain him in the first gw, because after that I can see him playing a bit further back or on the wing. He's expensive to have alongside salah, who will mostly be captained anyway

    Ederson
    Robertson, Mendy, Bavies
    Salah, Mane, Jota, Richarlison
    Aguero, King, Mitrovic

    Hamer, Bednarek, Stephens, WB

0.5 ITB to get Arnie in for Mitro.

Worried having Ederson/Mendy blocks me from City attacking assets.
Not sure Bavies is worth the 6M. (maybe switch to Luiz)

Should I go Patricio/Hamer combo to allow for City Midfielder or hope for City CS points possibly after GW 1 with nice fiuxtures?

    Thoughts please...

I've gone for Patricio/Hamer combo and got a Man City midfielder in. Ederson is good but the attacking returns are too interesting to ignore. I've also gone for Arnie as Siggy in the Middle suggests.

What are you expecting from Patricio, will he generate enough save points to be a decent replacement for Ederson?

I think Patricio will get plenty of points for the money but I also believe midfield is where I should focus. I think I can earn more points per additional money spent in midfield than in goal so I typically avoid the most expensive goalies.

If Wan-Bisaka is nailed (and I think he is) and Sanchez performs, that's a great team. I'd suggest using Sanchez as a placeholder for KDB.

nice team - i'd consider downgrading Foster to a 4.0 as Pickford will have potential for returns every week - and use the extra 0.5 to upgrade Bednarek to a more nailed defender that can rotate with Wan-Bissaka

Also shift Hudson-Odoi out for someone more likely to start (Mcdonald or Gunarsson possibly) - he might make a couple of sub appearances for the first couple of weeks but after that will struggle to even make the bench

        Thanks for the advice guys!

Are there any 4.0 gk starting?

don't think any 4.0 GKs are starting but you could go with Stekelenberg, which at least guarantees you a starter if Pickford gets injured

There's no perfectly obvious rotation with Palace, but I think Southampton and Watford rotate with them reasonably well and have a few 4.5 DFs to choose from - I'm currently on Hoedt but it's worth doing a bit of research here to work out which players are most nailed

I think peltier, hudson-odoi and bednarek are all big game time risks. You could get off to a flyer (especially if Sanchez delivers), or you could need to wildcard straight away, bit too risky for me.
If I was getting Pickford I'd probably get Stekelenburg too, not a fan of rotating goalkeepers.

        Hmmmmm interesting...

Who would you take out and replace with to make it a less risky team?
Sanchez? To mane possibly and bring in another big defender?

Sanchez is the obvious one. Personally at 9.5 I like Eriksen, seems to get 200 without much fuss.

Yeah could go Erickson or mane at 9.5 for Sanchez. Then I'll have 1mil to play wish.
Any other suggestions to use that 1mil?

I think there are a ton of 4.5 defs which all look good, schindler, dunk, duffy, tomkins, cedric. Personally like Cedric but a lot of people are saying he might not start which is putting me off.

Honestly no idea, haven't really considered Leicester defenders, except for the year they won the league when they looked liked world beaters I can't say I really rate them. By the way looking around Peltier looks a likely starter. You could find a different starter than hudson who was more likely to play then your cover might not be so bad. Would all hinge on Sanchez though.

Have flogged this one to death this year...

    Hamer - De Gea
    Daniels - Robertson - Alonso - Mendy - Wan-Bissaka
Sánchez - Salah - Bernardo Silva - Costa - Richarlison
    Arnautovic - King - Zaha

    Perfect defence without doubling up?
Almost perfect midfield for first few weeks (Mahrez vs Bilva)?
    Good value forwards for GW1-10?
Daft to not go with big striker from the start, or is the value in midfield anyway?

Costa not nailed with Traore on the way. Daniels not really a good pick. Lack of premium forwards also leaves you a bit inflexible.

I like the mid-range forwards because the value is typically in midfield but I always combine them with premium options. Not sure on Daniels, Alonso or Costa.

Thanks, that seems to be the consensus. Will look at Daniels (though can't see anyone better at 4.5 for the first few weeks), Alonso (pre-season and back four are a concern, may double-up on Man City/Liverpool) and Costa (possibly Neves on the bench as a place-holder for Kante, who should be 4.8M by the time he plays). Thanks again.

        Thanks for the feedback.

Daniels planned for GW1 vs CAR, then the big hitters - is there anyone else worth considering?

I don't think Traore has had a pre-season - could be wrong (thanks for the heads-up) - does Neves offer anything better coming off the bench in the meantime? - keeping an eye on Kante's position when he comes back.

Was hoping Sánchez's price would offer flexibility once Pogba/Lukaku come back, but maybe I do need a bit more

Will tinker away no doubt, thanks again.

I don't see Alonso as good value this year if Chelsea play a back 4... and Daniels is a temporary option until GW4? I also don't like Sanchez, I'd avoid any Utd players until we see whether Mourinho goes with Utd!

I don't think you need a big striker, they aren't as good value unless they are your captain and Salah is everyone's captain at the moment. A good differential might be to go with Kane as your captain, he is consistent and Salah has only done one season, and you'd buck the trend as barely anyone has Kane in their teams.

Thanks, but I just couldn't go with Kane in August and just after World Cup break, though off-loading Sánchez (who could be MU's only goal threat for a few weeks) after the MU team settles down and re-jigging Alonso would allow it - one for the back-burner there - it'll no doubt simmer there until Kane scores his comeback hatrick. Cheers.

    GK: Ryan - Fabianski

    DEF - van Aanholt - Holebas - Vestergaard - Schindler - Wan-Bassaka

    MID: Moura - Mane - Salah - B Silva - Murphy

FW: Aguero - King - Arnautovic

Slight concerns about starting places for Silva and Moura but they're cheaper options than others from Spurs/Man City and seem to have performed better in pre-season.

That defence is a car crash. I'd ignore Vestegaard and PVA and get some premiums.

Bailly - Robertson - Luiz - Cedric and Wan-Bissaka at the back now. Managed it by dropping B Silva for Richardson.

With Aguero up front I don't think you need more City - don't know a thing about Moura, so I personally would steer clear, but if you have a bit of background then go for it - I'd be happy with everything apart from Cedric's likely starts and possible price drop - otherwise good to go.

Didn't think when I started that I'd have Steve Cook in my forst 11 but here we are. Good fixtures got him in.

    Would love suggestions, thanks!

      B. I like Patricio and think Wolves will defend well. Also expecting Mahrez will shine.

Would consider Gunnarsson over Romeu for the 4.5 mid

I think so. He's much more experienced than most of his teammates (he's the Iceland international captain) so he will be important to them. I just have a good feeling about him this season.

    Fabianski Foster
    Robertson Luiz Tarkowski Hoedt AWB
    Salah Eriksen Siggy Jota Cairney

    0 ITB

Thoughts on this team? Thinking between:
    A. Eriksen Siggy Jota or
    B. Mahrez Moura Richarlison + 1m

Could use the 1m to probably upgrade defence or something.
