Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Patricio and Hamer. Not much to choose from in the 4.0 but I heard Hamer is the best option there.

Hamer's doing well in preseason. We should know by Friday if he's in for GW1 and Huddersfield defence is handy, intentional pun alert. If he's not starting I think having just one keeper without backup isn't smart. Injuries, loss of form, suspension can leave you with no keeper if you don't transfer and any options then could be 4.6m +.A defender, mid, forward can be benched for a week or two and even a bad replacement next GW from your bench costs you no points. There's a few rotations of 2x 4.5m keepers that could be nice and dropping your 4th defender, along with Bisakka, to Peltier or Bendarek might give you the 0.5m.

    Already have Aguero and Salah
    Choose one and why
    A. Firmino + Cairney
    B. Zaha + B.Silva
    C. Lacazette + Fraser
    D. Jimenez + Mane

    1. hassanmac
      • 14 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

It's between A and B. Depends on your team. I went for A myself (because I have Arnie as my 7.0 fwd and Mahrez as my Man City midfielder) but Zaha and Bsilva is solid too.

I have Salah already so only want one of Firmino and Mane. I think Firmino is a bonus points magnet and will do better than Mane for the money. Cairney is a decent value pick for the cost. I'm also guessing Firmino will score higher than Lacazette who will lose his position eventually to Auba. I hear Jiminez is excellent but unsure I need him and Jota.

Beware of Firmino. Minutes may be limited in GW1 as he has only played 45 mins in pre season. Klopp may start with Sturridge because of his resurgence in pre season and give Firmino +-20 mins from the bench. Wait for the post match analysis on LFC vs Torino tonight before you decide on Firmino. I too am facing this debacle.

    B) Start with Aguero (with Mahrez+Mendy) —> Auba GW3

Hey guys. Ratings and advice massively appreciated!

    GK: Fabi / Foster
DEF: TAA - Mendy - Bailly - Cedric (Wan Bissaka)
MID: Pedro - Sanchez - Richarlison - Salah (Stephens)
    ATK: Aguero - Firmino (Kamara)

Thinking of switching Sanchez to De Bruyne once Lukaku is back, and then upgrading elsewhere with the 0.5 saving.

    Cheers!

Are TAA, Cedric and Pedro guaranteed starters? Sarri was very frustrated with Pedro in the Community Shield. If they aren't guaranteed, can your bench carry the weight of expected points?

    Please RMT

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Mendy - Holebas - Boly (Wan-Bissaka - Peltier)
Salah - Mahrez - Mkhi - Jota (Cairney)

3-4-3 with 0.5 ITB plus a punty defence and poor bench.

    Ryan (Button)
    Robertson Mendy Davies (Wan-B Peltier)
    Salah Mane Mahrez Ozil Bilva
    Arnie Mitro (Kamara)

    today's thinking:
still not sure on the keepers...
premium defenders offer a decent average over 4-12 game stints, minimum FTs needed on these players - fire and forget
'premium mids' outscore premium forwards, they are also cheaper, more to choose from too
mid-to-low forwards usually score more than mid-to-low mids, I think?

perma-cap Salah & concentrate FTs on Bilva/Arnie/Mitro and generally be patient with the rest...

Working with this at the moment:

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Mendy Luiz Lovren Wan-Bissaka (Peltier)
Salah De Bruyne Jota (Chalobah, Hudson-Odoi)
    Aguero Aubameyang King

Pretty happy with it, just trying to decide the best 4.5 GK option, 4.5 mid options, and 6.5 mid options. Would love any thoughts on that or the team!

First time posting my team so I think it may be done? But would appreciate any comments

    Ryan, Fab

    VVD, Mendy, Shaw, Daniels, AWB

    Sanchez, Mhki, Moura, Mane, Masuaku

    Aguero, Lacazette, Sorloth

Subs last on the list, will probably be involved in transfers early on so not the end of the world if they don't play, just if they lose value!
1.5m in the bank. I think flexibility is always important early on, so I want some cash to improve/change if needed.

Who would you go for between Cedric vs Daniels?

Didn't Bournemouth just spend a bundle on a new fullback? Seems to me Cedric would be far more assured of starts.

RMT. Anything stands out as awful or is it pretty much nice and templatey?

    Foster/Fabianski
    Alexander-Arnold/Cedric/Tomkins
    Sane/Salah/Mkhitaryan(will change)/Richarlison
    Aguero/Firmino/Zaha

    Stephens/Wan-Bassika/Peltier

I’d start with Bilva over rich tbh then you can jump on the beat mid price

Either Costa or Cairney? Presuming you will be playing 3-4-3 so having your four mid as a 5mil seems a waste imo.
Downgrade Cairney to Billing (Duffy and AWB as 1st and 2nd sub)
Upgrade Costa to Pedro (1ITB) for the first few fixutres and maybe jump on Ramsey/Mkhi/Siggy when we get more info?
      Thanks for rating my team....

Nice ! Costa for Neves as he is losing set pieces to Moutinho but other than that very nice

Would really appreciate an RMT, lads! Been staring at this for a while now:

    Fabianski - Foster
    Robertson - Coleman - Cedric - Yedlin - Wan-Bissaka
    Salah - Bernardo - Eriksen - Richarlison - Kenedy
    Aguero - Zaha - Arnautovic

Very similar style of team to mine. My concern is not having enough captaincy options, but teem seems very well balanced with value in all areas.

I don't fancy Yedlin as an option - There's no chance you'll be playing him with his fixtures!

The same could go for Kenedy, but his prospects are slightly better at least 😉

Other than that, looks solid 🙂

This is a very good point. I put him in because i had Lascelles and needed the extra cash, but I suppose there are better options at 4,5 too. thanks!

Not sure if I’ve spread myself too widely and without enough top-drawer players/captaincy material:

    Pickford/Fabianski
    Van Aanholt/Maguire/Alexander-Arnold/Daniels
    Salah/Sane/Mhki/Sessegnon/Hudson-Odoi
    Aubameyang/Zaha/Arnautovic

    What would you change?

Settling in on this pending any major deadline day activity:

    Ederson
    Robertson Mendy Tomkins
    Salah Mane Richarlison Jota
    Aguero Arnatutovic King

    Hamer Cairney Doherty Wan-Bisaka
