Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Not keen on lindelof, no Salah or mane and Keira won't be good FF wise. Downgrade sanchez

Would Trippier Mane & Mkhitaryan be better than Lindelof Sánchez & Keita in your opinion?

Mane yes, mhki not sure if he'll start and trippier is good but for 6m I'd prefer to go Luiz and use 0.5 elsewhere

I was using Sanchez more of a placeholder for KDB for the first few weeks whilst Sanchez is playing in the front 3, and lindelof just for the first week to get Bellerin in after the city game

Risky with two 4m defenders and a 4.5m striker. Spread the funds abit more for safety but it’s known to have worked lol
Not to keen on Townsend and Fraser as your starting mids with that sub bench of yours dude.

Can't argue with any of the big hitters. Only worry is that with 3 4m defenders and Kanara, I'd a few lose their places you are forced into transfers. Personally like to have a solid bench to cover for uncertainty at the start... And in theory so I can focus transfers on the early stand-outs!!
Short term tho, I like it!!

Arnie, Zaha, Tosun, Wood, Mitro, Austin, Iheanacho

Arnie is the standout imo (not a great first game though obvs)
I'm going with Austin I think, but I'd probably say Zaha probably has the best chance of some sort of return

Finally settled on my team (subject to GW 1 line-ups article), very happy with this:

    Foster, (Patricio)
    Mendy, Bailly, TAA (Tomkins, Peltier)
    Salah, Eriksen, BSilva, Cairney (McArthur)
    Aguero, Lacazette, Jimenez

    £0.0m ITB

    1. Holteenderinthesky
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

I'm giving Morata ago for the first couple of gameweeks. Leaving 0.5ITB to swap to Lacazette when there fixtures improve. Morata looks nailed to play against Huddersfield, where as Lacazette is playing man city and that's if arsenal go with the two up top.

Think spurs will struggle till all their world cup players return so I'd also hold off on Eriksen

      1. CatMac
        • 16 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

I like Morata, I had him in my team awhile last season but I was unimpressed with Chelsea overall on Sunday which is off-putting.

I think any chance of Spurs scoring a goal in the opening games will come from Eriksen, just a gut feeling.

        Thanks though

        1. Holteenderinthesky
          • 7 Years
          7 years, 7 months ago

I wouldn't hold on to Morata all season just think he's worth a punt for the first couple of games. Huddersfield and home to arsenal. Where as Lacazette for example has man city and then Chelsea away. Plus no one really knows how arsenal are going to line up. Where I'll be surprised if Morata doesn't start.

          1. CatMac
            • 16 Years
            7 years, 7 months ago

I think even if Lacazette comes on as a sub he can score; I'm just not sure on the service Morata will get from midfield. Chelsea seemed all over the place on Sunday, admittedly their fixtures to start the season are easier but I'm not convinced.

    DDG - 4.0
    Robertson - Mendy - Wan-Bissaka - S.Cook - Peltier
    Salah - Pedro - Townsend - Richarlison - Stephens
    Aguero - Aubameyang - Arnie

RMT please people! Not sure about Arnie with the fixtures or the three cheapo defenders (Will rotate one with Mendy and Robby depending on fixtures/form) Also not sure about DDG only doing it due to his ownership really lol

    Foster Fabianski

    VVD Mendy Cedric Jagielka Wan-Bissaka

    Salah Mane Eriksen Kenedy Cairney

    Aguero Tosun Wilson

Realise Kenedy's fixtures aren't great. Was looking for 5.0 with 5.0 rotation.

I would avoid rotating Kenedy and Cairney as it's too hard to get right to be worth the headache, just downgrade one to a 4.5 and spend the money elsewhere I think.

I would also think about Cedric and Jagielka as Everton and Saints defense aren't looking particularly strong at the moment.

Could you try rotating Neves with Cairney? That's what I am currently planning on doing with my 5.0 MF options.

I'd also get rid of Cedric and Jagielka. Bernardo or Peltier for Cedric was an option I thought about but then revamped my team to a point where that wasn't an option any more.

Just some thoughts for your little walnut there.

So currently debating two quite different teams; which one?

    A] 5-3-2
    DDG [Fabianski]
    Coleman/VVD/PVA/Lowton/Bertrand
    Mané/Salah [C]/Eriksen [Neves/Cairney]
    Zaha/Tosun [King]

    B] 3-5-2
    DDG [Fabianski]
    Coleman/VVD/PVA [AWB/Peltier]
    Mané/Neves/Sanchez[C]/Cairney/Eriksen
    Laca/Auba [Kamara]

I'm playing bench boost GW1 and am keeping an eye on Arnie's/Mitrovic's form to swap with Zaha/King should they falter.

    Thoughts appreciated G's!

I figure if I play it with the relatively nailed players it's benefits outweigh the drawbacks? I pretty much feel that if I were to go with Team B then I would save the chip... but can I afford to not play it without Salah!? Can I even afford to field a team without Salah!?!?!

Could possibly go with just one 4.5 keeper and play regardless. Been some research showing that fixtures matter much less for keepers due to save points and that it’s more important to just pick the right one.

Patricio seems very popular on here

Do we really want to go Salahless?
Not sure best 2 out of Aub, Sanchez and Mane until first int brake.

    Pickford-Boruc
    V Aanholt-Sakho-Mendy-Bednarek-Alexander Arnold
    Mahrez-Richarlison-Sanchez-Towsend-Oriol Romelu
    Aubameyang-Tosun-Aguero

Very fixture difficulty driven, but really want to go regardless ownership %.

3-4-3, with rotating 3rd Def, Mendy and PVA being the core.

Big spent on FWDs which I never really do...

    Any thoughts?

Like suggested team cos at least you’ve got captaincy choices to cover salah... still a braver person than me to go without him

First RMT for the upcoming season. Any thoughts would be appreciated:

    Ederson (Hamer)

    Cedric Bailly Robertson (Wan-Bissaka, Peltier)
    Jota Salah Richarlison Mahrez (Stephens)
    King Firmino Aguero

    Arnie or Zaha ?

Zaha based on fixtures. Arnie on goalscoring threat. Though, with Chicarito coming back, this could mean Arnie is pushed out wide, Zaha pretty much nailed to start up top next to Benteke, so that will be worth keeping an eye on. I've gone for Zaha.

I'll say I can't see it happening but I could well be eating my hat come the end of TDD! Tbh sack both off for the first few game weeks and go with Tosun!

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'm gonna with Zaha based on fixtures.

    Is mkhitariyan nailed?

    How does this look?

    Foster Fabricio
    Robertson Mendy Daniels Wan-Bissaka Peltier
    Salah Bilva Richarlison Mkhitariyan Neves

I think he is, many don't. Daniels got Rico competing.

I really would like to know if Mkhitaryan is nailed!. Have to wait for pre-match session I guess!, Daniels is a doubt, Other than that team looks good.

    Thoughts on this?

    Ederson, Hamer
    Robertson, Shaw, Cedric, Tomkins, Peltier
    Salah, Mahrez, Richarlison, Neves, Cairney
    Aguero, King, Firmino

    1.0 in bank.

Any weak spots, improvement ideas on 4th mid?

    Any thoughts?

    Patricio - 4.0
    Mendy - Shaw - TAA - Daniels - AWB
    Salah - Mane - Pedro - Richarlison - Chalobah
    Aguero - Laca - King

Shaw, Daniels stay of execution. TAA might rotate with Clyne, back from WC. Pedro not nailed. Nice strikeforce.

Looks like Willian & Pedro fighting for the same spot and even if Pedro gets it, does he keep it......in other words would get a nailed on 6.5 mid of which there are a few nice options Jota/Maddison etc

What's your bench like? Moura and Bilva could quite easily be benched for a game
