Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Keep Mane + Arnie (although I would put in Zaha for GW1 and switch to Arnie in GW2 because of the fixtures).

Which team would you pick and why?
    (A)

    Patrico
    Robertson - Luiz - Shaw
    Salah - Ricarlison - Bsilva - Mane
    Zaha - Mitrovic - Aguero

    1.5m ITB

The money ITB gives me flexibility to upgrade players for GW2 e.g Bsilva > Mahrez or Aguero > Kane depending on how GW1 turns out.

    (B)

    Lloris
    Robertson - Azpilicueta - Mendy - Shaw
    Salah - Ricarlison - Bsilva - Mane
    Mitrovic - Aguero

I feel this one is more restrictive. If Kane starts firing i would likely need to use my wildcard to fit him in.

    (C)

    Patricio
    Robertson - Tarkowski - Mendy
    Sanchez - Salah - Mane - Cairney
    King - Aguero - Mitrovic

I like having Sanchez in because I could always downgrade him to say Mahrez / Eriksen / Debruyne etc. My only concern with this one is having two Fulham players in the team - any suggestions on who to replace Cairney with?

    Thanks!

    RMT Please
    GK: Ederson and Boruc
Def: VVD, PVA, Wan Bissaka, Davies, Steve Cook
MID: Salah, BSilva Richarlison Mikhtariyan Oriol Romeu
    FWR: Firminio Zaha King

    GK comments:
So far Ederson is the only secure route in Man City's defence and with such a schedule I cannot miss it
    Boruc: just 4.0m GK

    Defenders comments:
VVD - It is time VVD to show class and score some goals. He will take the place of Ota this season
PVA - Such strong fixtures and expect attacking returns from PVA
Wan Bissaka - Reliable 4m def
Steve Cook -> Nice rotation with Wan Bissaka and he is nailed
Ben Davies is my only concern....wandering for another 5-6m def

    Midfielders:
Salah - No comment so far
BSilva - looked in great shape and should start in the first gameweeks
Richarlison - have to try him for such a price...and such fixtures
    Mikhi - My only concern
    Oriol - 2 points player

    Forwards:
Firminio - very nice enabler till things among other forwards clear up a bit (Auba/Laca, Aguero/Jesus, Morata)
Zaha - He si mandatory if stays in Crystal Palace
King - Very nice fixtures and he is nailed on pens, other alternative is Arnautovic

    In the bank 3m

    Probably Mikhi -> Mahrez
    Only concern is Davies---> ?

After first 2-3 gameweeks firminio, bsilva/mahrez go in order to upgrade the forward and Mikhi comes back in the game (after two first difficult fixtures)

      Nice description.

Some points: Ederson not had any mins pre-season yet. Not convinced by PVA but should at least be a fun player to own. Fancy Mkhi to do well this season, might not see it in first two fixtures though. Davies is alright, at least he'll be playing (although probably CB GW1) and Rose hasn't seen any pre-season mins either so no guarantees he'll be rushed back especially with his injury record.

It's a solid and safe team that should do well for you - as long as those forwards perform.

The risk that you should consider is that you're very much stuck with 4-3-3 here. You can't drag any extra money out of the bench so if a midfielder like KDB turns up in a big way, it will be a huge issue to get them in, so it might force you into an early WC

Doesn't necessarily mean you should change your team, but just keep it in mind 🙂

Last draft for now I think:

    Patricio
    TAA Shaw Daniels
    Neves Eriksen Mane Salah Mkhi
    Aguero Tosun

    Fabianski Mendy AWB Kamara

Only one I’m not convinced on is TAA but I think he’s worth the punt with Mendy sat on the bench. Might bring in Keane instead.
Mendy will come in from GW2 onwards.
Shaw is a cheap option, probably short term, to get into the United defence.
Daniels i was fine with until reading comments on here but have decided to stick to my original thoughts rather than be swayed which happens far too often with my team
Not sure on Mkhi but I think having some Arsenal cover is important and can’t afford Aubameyang

    Would love your thoughts

Morning guys. Would appreciate some feedback on this team:

    Foster (Hamer)
    Luiz - Robertson - Mendy (Wan-Bissaka - Peltier)
    Salah - Mane - Richarlison - B.Silva (Cairney)
    Arnautovic - Aguero - King

Lots of players here who are late returning to club duties post WC. Some will play but not all.

Trippier, Stones, Lovren, Lingard and Kane are the main risks. Stones may well play GW 1 but there's huge rotation risk in that city defence.

Kane looked jaded at the world cup and may well try to force his return earlier, which I don't think will help him long term.

No city attacker is a huge risk as well! Start with Kane --> Aguero for me, and move from there by reinvesting into midfield 🙂

With so many good options for mid-price forwards (Zaha, Arnie, Tosun, King, Mitrovic). Have any of you considered going no premium (Auba, Aguero) striker to start the season? Both Auba and Aguero play each other first week. At GW 3 one can change a city mid to Aguero and budget midfielder if he does not get rotated. This would give two City midfielders, plus Salah, one more mid-price mid and nice backline.

    Patricio
    PvA - Mendy - Paterson

Also, once the GW starts, can you change the captains for each matchday during the GW?

Good morning everyone! Some help needed with this squad:
    Foster
Tomkins - Robertson - David Luiz
    Salah - Mané - Mahrez - Jota
    Tosun/Zaha - Aubameyang - King
    (Hamer - Boly - Stephens - Peltier)

Would really like to add Fabianski for rotation (Hamer won't be first choice won't he), and need to find 0.5 somewhere. Is downgrading David Luiz a bad idea - having only one expensive defender?

I guess Tomkins->WB is the only way? Could also downgrade Mahrez to B. Silva, but surely Mahrez is better long term, or?

    Thanks!

    Current draft for 4-4-2/3-5-2
    Fabianski, Foster
Robertson, Mendy, Coleman, Tomkins, Wan Bissaka
Salah, Mané, B. Silva, Jota, Kenedy
    Aguero, Tosun, Mousset

    ITB: 0.5

Considering swapping Mané and Mousset for Sanchez and Kamara (ITB: 0.0)
Also considering another 5.5 defender for Coleman and VvD for Robertson.
Kenedy is a late arrival to my squad because he rotates quite well with Crystal Palace players (Tomkins).

Davies a bit of a place holder for a defensive bandwagon. Hoping a deal goes through for Mcguire or something.

Puncheon very left field, but 1m cheaper than zaha, gets the extra points and if palace are lining up 433 you fancy him to be involved just as much....could be out my team by September though.

My concerns would be Davies (Spurs have 90% of their squad who only returned a fortnight ago and start almost exclusively away from home) and Luiz. I would consider Mendy and Coleman to replace those. Otherwise one of the better teams I've seen with Salah

      1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

I've tried fitting in Mendy but I already have 3 city players - would need to swap Aguero out for PEA or bring in another keeper over Ederson for it.

Not sure on Coleman just because of Everton's woeful pre-season.

Fair point - maybe have a look at what else 11.5m gets you in two defenders (could get a 6.5 and a 5.0, which could be a way to go)

Chelsea overkill. Wait and see how they click with Sarri ball first. Offered very little in the community shield.

          Pedro 》 Richarlison
          Mikhi 》 Jota
          Ederson 》 De Gea

Will take a look. Not so sure on Rich and Jota right now personally.

Decided that a big front three is how I want to start the season. Would appreciate thoughts on the rest of the squad around them...

    Partricio (Hamer)
    VvD Coleman Bertrand (Peltier, Wan-Bissaka)
    Mane BSilva Mkhitarian Richarlison (Stephens)
    Firmino Aguero Aubameyang

One option is to change Auba and BSilva to Laca and Mahrez...

    Cheers lads

All good but not overly keen on Coleman and Mikhi. If you are happy with them g2g.

Cheers - I really like Coleman as an option with him (hopefully) looking to impress and Everton's fixtures. Mkhi a bit of a gamble - would rather have Rambo, but can't find the funds. Also he hit the ground running last season so fingers crossed lol

    Looking good, yah?

    Hart (Hamer)
Coleman - Mendy - VVD (Wan, Bed)
    Salah - Eriksen - Costa - B.Silva (Gunnarsson)
    Firmino - Aguero - Austin

    Regards
    David

        Nope! 😀

Well, I think he'll play definitely until Adama is ready, then rotation risk.

      Costa -> Kenedy?
Think Fab/Patricio might be better 4.5 keeper options while Burnley are playing in EL
If you could free up 0.5m from the defence then King probably a better option than glass body Austin

      7/10

Yeah Costa will become likely Kenedy, Costa I think will play first few while Kenedys fixtures are bad.

Indeed Austin is ropey, would need to do VVD > TAA to up him.
