Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Planned bench in brackets in a 4-4-2- tempted by a 3-5-3 with Bellerin on the bench for Jimenez given City first game for Ars and Wolves could be lively in their home opener v Everton in the opener.

Given Pickford first choice and everton's decent fixtures (only Ars from top6 until GW9), Speroni picked as a non playing GK so as to have 0.5 ITB. Plans would be to get Kane/Trippier in by GW4 given they returned to training only a few days ago and Kane generally needs a few games to find his feet.

    Pickford - (Speroni)
    Bellerin - Davies - AlexArnold - Tark - (Kelly)
    Salah (C) - Sane - Mkhitaryan - Neves - (Stephens)
    Aguero - Firmino - (Jimenez)

    Patricio - 4.0
    Robbo - Mendy - Janmaat - AWB - Peltier

Looks good; if Hudson-Odoi gets a start would be amazing but I am concerned about Pedro/Willian ultimately relegating him to a 15 minute impact sub. Jota was amazing in the championship and should translate well to PL. Don't love Janmaat but overall good structure to make transfers if necessary.

Quite like it. Some differentials in there. Triple City attack looks good but there could be some value in there defence.

Thx, it's a big risk with triple City if Emery has Arsenal organized; not to mention rotation in the coming weeks but I'll take the risk.

I know Shaw is a transfer out waiting to happen but couldn't resist.

I think Kamara is a weakness as well potentially if he becomes a sub not a starter and Richarlison blew hot/cold last year, not to mention choosing Austin over others in that bracket (King, Arnautovic, Zaha, etc.) is a risk but I'm hopeful...

I’m on triple City as well. Think it’s a risk worth taking given their fixtures.

As an United fan I’m just struggling to bring in Shaw because I know the end result of it.

Had Kamara in my drafts before but I think there are good number of cheap strikers who could do well so switched to 343.

For my taste a bit strong on Liverpool. Otherwise good team. Bench is fairly weak. I would downgrade Mane and upgrade bench a bit, since rotation is becoming more and more popular amongst all the managers

    Opinions?

    De Gea

    Saha-Arnie-Aguero

Bench: Hamer, Bertrand, Wan Bissaka, Hudson Odoi

I went with Luke Shaw. If he plays well and they keep a clean sheet v LEI; he could keep his place. It's a big risk, but can always downgrade him in the future if he loses his spot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I agree it is a risk, I don’t think that they will keep a clean sheet against against Lei to be honest and I think he may soon lose his place.

as you said very similar to a lot of teams, but this is not necessarily bad. I think a lot of money in Liverpool. My suggestion is Daniels due to good fixtures and leaves you with 0.5 to maneuvre a bit

I had been looking at a 4.5 for the extra manoeuvrability, and Daniels was originally in my squad, however I think he may lose his place to their new signing after a few games

Grateful for any feedback. My team atm is:
    Ederson, Speroni
    TAA, PVA, Mendy, Wan-Bissaka
Salah, Sigurdsson, Bernardo Silva, Cairney, Hughes
    Tosun, Firmino and Aubameyang

That team is £100m. Did have Mkhi in B Silva's place with 0.5 free.

      Seems strong!

      Why VVD over Robertson?

Arnie horrible fixtures, he does not convince me to start the season, so I think downgrading him to a 4.5m would allow you to upgrade Mahrez to Eriksen (namely throughout this Pep's indecision-over-mids period) and probably upgrade Stephens to Jota.

Apart of that, super similar to mine

WCing between GW4-5 is pretty likely regardless (international break, teams known, 'cheap' Arsenal/Chelsea starters known etc.)
so with that in mind, what about the below: (1m ITB to upgrade Odoi)

    Hart (Button)
    Shaw Darmian Bednarek (Wan-B Peltier)
    Salah Mane Mahrez Bilva H-Odoi
    Firmino Aguero (Kamara)

    2xUtd defence
    3xLiverpool attack
    3xCity attack

    Patricio Hamer
    Robertson Mendy Shaw Tomkins 4M
    Salah Mahrez Richarlison Neves Cairney

Anything else to change? Hamer to a 4.5 gk? Mahrez to Eriksen?

Having Kun and Mendy, bringing Eriksen in and Mahrez out seems a good move, at leat until Pep provides us a better insight on his midfield decisions.

Could I please have a RMT on this team please

    Patricio Begovic

    Mendy VVD Jagielka Kasabele Wan-Bissaka

Salah Eriksen B Silva Richarlison Stephens

    King Aubameyang Mitrovic

I am quite settled on this team however I am unsure about Jagielka and would like to upgrade to either Bertrand, Darmian or Shaw (which one)

At 4.5m, Tomkins seems to me a better pick.

In terms of personal preference, I would bring Auba in from GW3 onwards. First two GWs I am in a wait-and-see mode on Arsenal, also due to fixtures.

Downgrading Auba for the first FWs would allow you to importantly upgrade your midfield.

But again, this is a personal preference and Kun/Auba is obviously very strong

    Cook - Lowton - Robertson - Doherty - (Wan-Biss)
    Salah - Mane - Bilva - Richarlison - Hughes

A is nice 3-5-2, albeit a weak bench.
B would work better as a 3-4-3 imo.
Of the two I prefer A bit I would definitely use that .5 and upgrade Peltier. Even if he is a starting 4.0, he still plays for Cardiff. 😉

    Hi guys,

    Here's my final draft
    Pickford (Stek)
Mendy - VVD - Tomkins (WB & Peltier)
    Salah - Mané - BSilva - Richar - Maddison
    Kun - King (Rondon)

    Comments:
    1. Just swap Robbo to VVD as I'm afraid Robbo is behind Moreno for GW1 (did not start yesterday with the starting 11), agree?
    2. Will monitor both 4.0m def situation
    3. Will swipe MCI to ARS (BS + Kun > Ozil / MKhi / PEA / Laca)

Thanks a lot for your comments! 🙂

Robbo will play I think. Maddison is a risk but could pay off handsomely.

Dont you think that he did not start with the whole starting XI yesterday is a warning?

    Thoughts?

    Ederson - Ryan
TAA - David Luiz - Daniels - Cedric - Wan Bissaka
    Salah - Sanchez - Sessegnon - Richarlison - Neves
    Firmino - Zaha - Tosun

    1.5M left for future use.

    Bit different than most teams.
Have had B. Silva but don't feel too confident he will keep his place for a lot of gameweeks and w1 is A at Arsenal.
Somehow think Sanchez might be off to a great start if he would start of as a striker.

Swap Ryan for a 4.0 keeper.

      Upgrade Firmino to Aguero

Maybe a bit light on ManCity attacking power?

First: Ask yourself, when exactly to plan WC!
Second: Better use only 100% nailed players in 4-4-2/3-4-3 tactic. In your case, you always going to bench mid priced player for no reason and if he lefts his returns on your bench, then the damage is doubled ..
Third: Use all your money now, cuz there is still much time for investments and if injuries hit you at the start, then you will be able to free funds from sales of injured/suspended players.

Sanchez is too expencive for attacker from low scoring side as ManU (Pool Fan) - Better get someone like Hazard/KDB for those money!

Richarlison in a new club to start producing from GW1 is too ambicious imo..

      Tosun is crab too

David Luiz to Alonso is much much better deal

Other than that looks fine! Good Luck!

Richarlison hit the ground running with Watford last season and couldn't speak a word of English when he arrived. He now has the benefit of a season under his belt as well as playing for Silva.

    Final draft:

    Patricio,
    AWB, Mendy, Robbo, Peltier
    Bilva,Salah,Richarlison,Mane
    Auba,Aguero

    Hamer, Kamara, Bednarek, Stephens.

I’m hoping if Peltier doesn’t start at least the bench might swing a few points, Kamara started and scored mid week.

    Any improvements or gtg?

Which GW do we think Lovren will come back? Thinking of getting him from the start in order to save a transfer assuming he comes in GW3 at the latest. I'm playing 3-4-3 and have plenty cover on bench.
