So far only players that I am not happy with are:
    - Josh King - this first game against Cardiff at home looked like a plum fixture, and to end up with no returns is bit dissapointing.
    - Tom Cairney - didnt play as far up the field I was expecting him to.

Im gonna keep them both for few more weeks but they will have to improve.

Have you looked at the double trade to Fraser and a 6m and below striker e.g Jiminez? You can then rotate WB and Fraser in a perfect rotation. Both seem better options to Cairney to me and Jiminez should quietly score goals in that Wolves team.

Ooh. For now the double up isn't as mad as it sounds. Give it a couple of weeks and see which you fancy. You could transfer to a Watford striker if you prefer as well. Or wait and look at Southampton today.

He was lucky to get that assist. Richarlison also lucky with his first goal. Jota to Neves and extra cash if needed after gw2 is worth considering. Or Jota to Richarlison.

If you owned 59 mins GroB what would you do?

    A) Save the transfer. Remember why you brought him. Everything goes through him and he deserves another week. It is just one week 2 FT will come in handy.

    B) Transfer to Richarlson once he is confirmed fit. It saves 0.5m. If he scores again his price will rocket. He has better fixtures.

The fixtures at home aren't great but I wouldn't be suprised to see Brighton score at home to Man U. If they do he could well be involved. Or if he comes off on 59 mins he will be coming off for me.

No. He's the main man. Gomez is defensive so will fight for spots with Gueye and Schniderlin. Bernard to oust Walcott. Siggy back in.

I'd expect to see this team starting next week:

Coleman, Keane, Mina (perfect starting spot with Jags out), Baines (Digne for 30 mins)
            Schiderlin / Gomez
            Bernard / Siggy / Rich
            Tosun

            Bernard/Walcott being a 50/50

Raul Jiminez. At 5.5m he is an absolute bargain. He could well score a hatfull this season in that team. I think it may well take people a while to cotton on to him.

Previous totals of 5, 7 and 6 goals for a stronger team in a weaker league. Not sure how many he was starting but probably why it'll take some warming

I think the part about him not starting many games is the main factor. Also, Atletico are a better team. No doubt. But they are built on a solid platform. He will have as many scoring opportunities at Wolves than at Atletico due to styles of play.

To be fair the sitter was more down to the poor positioning of the guy he looked to pass to. That should have been an assist. The goal was also well taken. Wolves will create a lot of chances for him this season. And if it doesn't work out there are plenty of other options out there.

I also own King at 6.5 and I captained him, still think it was a decent punt and a little unlucky not to have got something, especially as he seemed to let Wilson have the pen. In saying that, I watched the first half, King played superbly but not superbly FPL wise. Assisting the assister and was a constant attacking threat but worry a little points wise! Mitro could be the better pick of those two, time will tell

too many options and Sarri will be trying to figure out his best 11. Morata looked poor and the 4 at the back means alonso wont be getting forward as much i would think.

IMHO, he was not dominant by any means. His first goal had some luck involved and his second seemed soft. That was about all he did outside of flopping to the pitch whenever someone touched him.

Nevertheless, he did manage 2 goals and he looks motivated.

He didn't have a great game but he didn't have a bad one, think Wolves froze a little bit, the Southampton game will give a better idea of where he and Everton are at.

2 shots, 2 goals, took his chances.

If he scores next week, it'll be hard to ignore him.

I got him as a short term punt, on the assumption that Kane would be a few weeks away. My reading of the pre-season was that he and Llorente worked well together. When I saw Kane in the lineup, my heart sank.

So I’m shipping for Richarlison but I could be completely over-analysing and over-reacting.

For health and family reasons I made the very difficult decision to step back from that (and other things). I won’t go into details but while it was a fantastic thing to do it was also a tremendous strain for someone of my age with no live tv experience and with a family. I needed to reasses ahead of this season and heed advice and step back. But, as you can see, I’m still not finding that easy 😉

You know what, I think you've earned a break 😉

You know how much everyone here loves you, but health and family has be to be the priority. Your second, larger, more annoying family can wait 😉

Well done on admitting that Mark. I will just say that after being a football fanatic for 30 years, I have developed a passion for FPL in the past few years. You are one of the main reasons for this, you always came across well on the show and Scoutcast of course. I know about the pressure of public speaking and family strains. Take care, enjoy life, and thanks for all of your hard work in developing this site.

Take it easy Mark. You've always done a great job and your work on this site has been much appreciated over the years.

The tinny, high-budget Scoutcasts between you and Granville were the soundtrack to my University commute many years ago. Top man.

I had absolutely no idea. I've just seen this now.

I just wanted to wish you all the best, Mark. For what it's worth, I always thought you were very good on the FPL Show and came across very well. I know it must be tricky hitting your mark and cues and all that, but your charisma and knowledge still came through.

I've got a funny feeling that the only reason I'm still on here is because you were the one person who stuck up for me and who semi-got my humour and who understood that I have an genuine affection for the site.

You were - and remain - a personal hero of mine. FPL General, Joe, The WGTA Duo, Bully and The IceMan, TriggerLips ... these are all incredibly talented captains of industry when it comes to the world of FPL. But in terms of knowing their stuff and having the cleverest FPL mind, you really are top of the pile. They haven't got a patch on you.

Good luck in the season ahead 🙂

Mark well done on making this decision. You've built this site up from scratch and now seeing it flourish, but last season you were everywhere at once! You have done the right thing by delegating everything out to some very capable guys including Jonty, David et al. At the end of the day family and health comes first and I know you will look back and be glad you made the right decision. All the best.

Not knee jerking, not seen any games yet. But does Neves at 5m look better than Cairney at 5m?

Neves looked class (did not see Fulham) and playing in a better team so in my book yes

Same question really. But I have Jota which is making Neves look a worse pick. Wish I had gone Richarlison - Neves but it's alright. Early doors and all that.

Neves looked great yesterday...hard to see how he only got 6 goals last season...maybe better suited to the Prem?? Still early doors mind.

Cairney is only sat on my bench. But I'm sure one week sooner or later B. Silva will get dropped so he'll step in.

Tempted to note down the big lucky & unlucky incidents each week & attach points to them to see does it actually balance out. E.g. this week:

    Lucky:
    - Shaw goal +8
    - Sanchez assist +3

    Unlucky:
    - Sanchez not taking pen (-8)
    - Josh King not taking pen (-7)

Net Total for this week so far: (-4). Could also argue Kaku missing that sitter from sanchez’s Assist but it might get too complicated.

Doesn't work like that. What if Sanchez and King missed their penalties?

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

Good call. Also, probably over calling it, as Sanchez’s score would only have gone up by 2 + 3 for goal + baps, whereas shaw wouldn’t have got the 3 baps then etc. Too complicated. Scrap that idea.

Just be happy with the points you get. The game isn't enjoyable if you stress over benching Wan-Bissaka etc.

I check xG to see 'luckiness'.

He took a bad touch that happened to work in his favor as the ball went over the defender. Not a touch he intended 🙂

Missing sitters seems too subjective to me. Shaw goal shouldnt be listed or you will be listing every defender goal throughout the season. I would keep it at jammy assists given or not given and expected penalty takers not taking them. Stone wall penalties not given as well. CPL defenders should all have lost their CS.

      AWB +/. 6-7
      PVA +/- 5-6
      Sakho +/- 5
      Tomkins +/- 4

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 14 Years

Stonewall pen not given is a great call too actually, there are too many incidents. It would be interesting to see an FPL “luck” debit and credit ledger for each Gameweek though!

Should I go Cairney to Neves as my FT? very happy with the rest of my squad and Cairney didn't look like he was playing too far forward. Just wonder if it's worth it before the inevitable price rise for neves
