With so many RMTs and GTGs (good to go) on site, we’re collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

Site regular and moderator RedLightning has here given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding, but this will work best if you help out others as well as getting responses.

RedLightning’s Squad

Fabianski – Patricio

Robertson – Mendy – Alonso – Walker – Wan Bissaka

Salah – Mane – Richarlison – Jorginho – Stephens

Aguero – Arnautovic – Jimenez

My GW1 squad was a bit different. If I had asked it to be RMT’ed in advance of GW1 I would probably have been deluged with replies of “too much spent on defence” but I don’t agree – elite defenders offer excellent value.

I’m very happy with this squad as it stands and it should be good for a few gameweeks, so I’m not yet planning any specific changes to it, unless events such as injuries make changes desirable; after that, fixtures will need to be considered.

I will be hoping to keep my wildcard till at least the second international break, by which time we should have better information about who is fit, playing and in form and who isn’t.

I avoided players from teams that had reached the Quarter-finals or Semi-finals of the World Cup, apart from Mendy, and many of them are not yet back to full match fitness, but some of them (such as Sterling, Alexander-Arnold and Pogba) could soon come into consideration.

This squad will normally play in 4-3-3 formation, but it has the flexibility to sometimes vary from that (such as in GW1, when it seemed a bit risky to play both Man City defenders away at Arsenal).

Goalkeepers

Rotating 4.5m goalies. Fabri also rotates well with Fabianski, but I have more faith in Patricio and Wolves. I did consider de Gea as a stand-alone, but needed to make various savings in order to afford Mane. I also considered having a 4.5m stand-alone, but had 0.5m spare and this seemed like the best place to spend it.

Defenders

4 elite defenders (not just premium, but the best that money can buy) plus Wan-Bissaka as a magic bean. I will probably bring in a United defender for one of the other elites at some point. Bailly was actually in my draft squad as a 5th elite defender until his injury doubt, but I wouldn’t want to leave WB out now. It was a difficult choice between Alonso and Azpilicueta, but I expect them both to outscore the cheaper Chelsea alternatives. Alexander-Arnold may be a good alternative to Robertson.

Midfielders

Salah should be my regular captain, Mane and Richarlison should be regular starters, and Jorginho may occasionly come in as a 4th mid. There are no midfield magic beans to compare with Tom Carroll and Loftus-Cheek last season, so the bench-sitting 5th midfielder was a difficult choice. I was on McDonald for a long time, but then changed to Stephens at the last minute, not even giving me time to change my bench order. I would like to bring in Sterling at some point, but that will involve getting rid of one of my other City players. Neves, Jota and Fraser are also on the watchlist.

Forwards

Aguero could be an occasional alternative captain. It was a toss-up between Aguero and Aubameyang, but the deciding factor was that I may want to captain Aguero in GW5. Zaha could be a good alternative to Arnautovic. Jimenez was the best forward available at his price.

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions? Should I save? Who should I look to bring in? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Thanks! Tempted to give Mkhi one more week and then reassess. Had the full team in the original post but the site and/or my phone kept having a meltdown.
Bench is Speroni Stephens AWB Daniels.

K bench is better than I thought it would be.
It's the boring but sensible option holding til GW3
Both have great fixtures too so hard to separate them.
Mkhi did not look great and as a Auba owner I was screaming at him on one occasion. But Auba and Laca should get lots and someone has got to be assisting.
Rich also scored 2 from 2 shots can't keep that up especially given his previous poor conversion rate.

Yeah I was screaming at Auba too and all of Arsenal to be fair but need to give Emery time to get them ticking. Also City are just ridiculous. I think I'll be both boring and sensible so. Cheers for the replies!

    G2G?

    Foster - (Patricio)
Robertson - Tarkowski - Peltier - (Luiz - Wan Bas)
    Bilva - Salah(c) - Sanchez - Murphy - Fraser
    Aguero - Firmino - (Kamara)

Not sure if I should start Luiz or Peltier?

I found this interesting so thought I'd share. As a league that contains a small group of "in the know" players I compared GW1 ownership stats of the Mods and Cons league vs the overall ownership stats (as of a few days ago). Here are two lists that show the players with the biggest differences:

    Largest negative difference

    De Bruyne 28% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-28% difference)
    Kane 31% Overall vs 4% M&Cs (-27% difference)
    De Gea 30% Overall vs 4% M&Cs (-26% difference)
    Trippier 24% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-24% difference)
    Kanté 20% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-20% difference)
    Daniels 17% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-17% difference)
    Maguire 16% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-16% difference)
    Speroni 15% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-15% difference)
    Bellerín 15% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-15% difference)
    Alisson 14% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-14% difference)
    Sané 13% Overall vs 0% M&Cs (-13% difference)
    Neves 17% Overall vs 4% M&Cs (-13% difference)
    Alonso 17% Overall vs 4% M&Cs (-13% difference)
    Pickford 21% Overall vs 8% M&Cs (-13% difference)
    Azpilicueta 16% Overall vs 4% M&Cs (-12% difference)

    Largest positive difference

    Wan-Bissaka 17% Overall vs 96% M&Cs (79% difference)
    Mendy 11% Overall vs 71% M&Cs (60% difference)
    Agüero 32% Overall vs 83% M&Cs (51% difference)
    King 7% Overall vs 58% M&Cs (51% difference)
    Peltier 4% Overall vs 54% M&Cs (50% difference)
    Richarlison 20% Overall vs 67% M&Cs (47% difference)
    Jota 6% Overall vs 50% M&Cs (44% difference)
    Robertson 15% Overall vs 58% M&Cs (43% difference)
    Foster 5% Overall vs 46% M&Cs (41% difference)
    Mahrez 5% Overall vs 46% M&Cs (41% difference)
    Fabianski 19% Overall vs 58% M&Cs (39% difference)
    Salah 54% Overall vs 92% M&Cs (38% difference)
    Mané 18% Overall vs 46% M&Cs (28% difference)
    Tomkins 8% Overall vs 29% M&Cs (21% difference)
    Bernardo Silva 7% Overall vs 25% M&Cs (18% difference)

Looks like the mods and cons have dodged the De Bruyne bullet, unless there were any early transfers....

Looks like they had a higher percentage ownership of most that did well. That are meant to be experts I suppose.
Kun was an exception but hey that was one week could go mad this week.

And from the other perspective looks like not owning Alonso was the only one that did not work out.
Thanks for the info . Have you got that M&C league code?

No problem! Yeah Alonso is interesting, also is the lack of premium keepers for all the talk of Ederson vs De Gea on the site. Here are the keeper ownership for the mods and cons, obvious Fab/Foster rotating pair is most popular!

          Fabianski 58.3% (14/24)
          Foster 45.8% (11/24)
          Patrício 20.8% (5/24)
          Stekelenburg 16.7% (4/24)
          Ederson 12.5% (3/24)
          Hamer 12.5% (3/24)
          Pickford 8.3% (2/24)
          Ryan 8.3% (2/24)
          Button 8.3% (2/24)
          McCarthy 4.2% (1/24)
          De Gea 4.2% (1/24)

    Robbo Coleman Mendy Luiz (tomkins)
    Salah Richarli Mililo Brooks (Cairney)
    Kun Auba (Quaner)

    1FT
Generally 5-3-2, unless Cry faces a 4/5 opponent.
Ideally, I don't really see the need to transfer anyone, even after gw2. Mililo comes close if Jota/Maddison fires.

    DDG

Alright scouts, loooong time lurker (Christ, 7 years??) on these boards without comment.

Generally make a mess of the first few GWs then get annoyed at myself for not paying attention. This year I thought I’d change up tactics and get annoyed at you lot

    1. Juande
      • 15 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

Well that’s a good start. Somehow only posted the first bit of my comment.

...Miraculously decent 84 in GW1 having gambled against Salah and Kane in the hope of using my hefty 6m Itb to swoop in on surprise assets. However, now I’m paralysed by the choice.

      Any help? Current team:

      Pickford (Lossl)
      Mendy, Lowton, Alex-A (Daniels, Wan-Bis)
      Mané, Mahrez, Mata, Fraser (Hud-Odoi)
      Aguero (c), Arnie, Zaha

Obvs Hud-Odoi and Lossl may need tweaking long term but currently fighting urge to dump Mahrez... mistake? Should I just stick for now? Assuming I don’t bring in Salah until he starts outscoring Mané who would you bring in with cash no barrier?

      Cheers!

        6m itb wow!

First of all, welcome 😉 Love seeing long time lurkers post (in the right article as well!)

Lossl will be fine - Think he'll return this week after Hamer was quite poor against Chelsea. Hudson-Odoi and Mata are more conceding for me though.

My suggestion would normally be save the transfer etc etc, because we will have so much more info after this week. However, with 6m itb it might be a good idea to do something like Mata --> Sterling? I don't know how you feel about ster and the city midfield, but a lot of people are jumping on that bandwagon

I have just noticed you already have triple city, so it might be best to wait a week actually and see what happens.

        Hope I helped! 🙂

    Patricio
    Mendy, Robertson, van Aanholt
    Salah, Mane, Bernardo Silva, Richarlison
    Aguero, Zaha, King

    Hamer; Peltier, Stephens, Wan-Bissaka.

    0.5 ITB

I can easily save, which is probably what I will do, but I must admit I'm tempted to use the 0.5 ITB to upgrade King to Arnautovic. Have a feeling Arnie will be one of the top scorers this week.

    A) Save transfer
    B) King -> Arnautovic

Probably Wilson for me, at least for now. I'd like to have more time to see how Ings will fit in to the Sou team.

Do you have any other Bournemouth attackers?

        I have King.

        Going to do:

        Jota to Bilva
King to Wilson for a hit

I know it's not amazing, but Bilva will probably sky rocket in price if he continues to play.

Not wholly convinced if a sideways swap from King to Wilson is worth it for a hit.

Save for a week and reconsider then?

Agreed but Bilva goes up in price tonight or tomorrow and with KBD out, he's surely even more nailed. l feel long term at home to Huddersfield he will get more points than Jota, so the hit is lessened. Then at least l don't have to worry about getting Bilva in.

If he continues to play for a while, which he probably will, surely he's hit 8m at least.

Patricio owners. What are your thoughts on him seeing as Wolves couldn't keep 10-men Everton at bay?

Mixed. Still hopeful for saves, but based on the GW 1 performance it looks unlikely if Wolves will keep any clean sheets as you say.

Holding until first wildcard probably 🙂 (I also have Foster fwiw)

    Zaha - Aguero - Arnautovic

    Stekelenburg - Wan-Bissaka - Peltier - Cairney

Guys, im sad to say i missed the start of the season 🙁 So im just building up my team from GW2 onwards, this is what i have ATM

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Robertson - Mendy - Daniels (Wan-Bissaka, Holebas)
    Salah - Mane - Sterling - Bilva - Richarlison
    Zaha - Wilson (Jimenez)

    0.0ITB

What do you think? Im not sure on my keepers, change Patricio to any other 4.5 keeper that i can start at least the next couple of GWs? :/ And other subs, what would you change? Would you prefer to downgrade 1 mid to upgrade a striker to a premium one?

Mendy, Van Dijk, Davies, Luiz (Wan Bisaka)
    Salah, Mane, Jota, Richarlison (Cairney)

98 points in GW1. Hoping this is G2G for GW2 pending all the injury news from the press conferences.

    Kepa
    Mendy, Robertson, Kabasele
    Salah, Mane, Bilva, Richarlison
    Aguero, Arnie, King
    Subs: Hamer, Boly, Wan-Biss, Stephens

    Aguero capt, Salah vice

Opting to start Kabasele away to Burnley over Boly (Leic away) and AWB (Liv home).

Lets say Bob was playing this wild card this week, what do you think of Bobs team?
    Hart
    Alonso - Mendy - Holebas - Robertson
    Sterling - Bilva - Salah - Pereya - Alli
    Tosun
    (Hamer, Wan, Success, Kamara)

Bob is tempted by having one main striker like Kun, but is he really worth it over that midfield?

Bob is very like my friend... Mervin

      Mervin is also stuck between
      Sterling BSilva and stones
      Or
      Sterling stones and walker

      What should Mervin do?!

With option 1. Cedric is the other defender, with option 2. Fraser is the other midfielder!

What should we... I mean what should bob and Mervin do!?

Just pondering if I did actually decide to FH...and look what I came up with. You've got to admit that could score very big that team this week?!

    Lloris
    Maguire Stones Keane
    Bilva Maddison Alli Richarlison
    Kane(c) Aguero Vardy

    Hamer Peltier Schneiderlin AWB

It’s a solid team and some potential high scorers. The thing with playing your FH in a normal week, are you going to have the same problem in GW3 that’s leading you to changing your team for this week?

I know what you mean but how often do you get a week when so many good assets have a home fixture against newly promoted opposition?

            Man City v Huddersfield
            Spurs v Fulham
            Leicester v Wolves
