Buoyed by some impressive scores from the opening day, the Scoutcast crew are in optimistic mood as they tackle the key issues facing Fantasy managers ahead of Gameweek 2.

I’m joined by Andy, Az and new Scoutcast face Neale (aka Skonto Rigga) to separate the wheat from the chaff in the Fantasy Premier League’s transfer market.

We ponder whether reports of the demise of forwards have been greatly exaggerated and list the under-performing players from Gameweek 1 who may well punish their sellers.

Our rough with the smooth round-up features a tale of two benches.

While later in the show I come under attack from my colleagues, and even a moth, as we search for this season’s budget midfield gem.

We end by revealing our Captain choices when Neale unleashes one of the most surprising armband selections the Scoutcast has ever seen. It caps an impressive debut to remember for both him and the moth.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Haha two comments you say it is impossible to factually compare and now you say this is delusional!

Pep is a great manager but he only wins managing elite teams with elite players. As much as I hate to admit it as an Arsenal fan what Poch has done at Spurs with very limited resources is incredible

Pep is the exception. He is arguably the greatest ever.

It's very difficult to compare manager and it will be down to opinions because like for like doesn't exist. Resources, club size, quality of opponent. And there is a case for saying Pep is the greatest.

I just disagree with it because he is a perfectionist and has always managed the best team in the league and has had ample resources to buy on top of that. I don't think he could get the results Poch can get with his squad and resources (I am not in any way saying Poch is the greatest).

Pep's play style requires the best players. He has created the best team in history at Barcelona and has now created the best Premier League team in history.

I agree with you, comparing managers is very difficult, it is always an opinion, but Pep is the exception to this rule because he is on a different planet compared to other managers.

But he gets the job in the first place? Can't criticise someone for only managing top teams.

At least he has an ethos, mourinho is just a rich man's allardyce.

I think Pep is a much better than Mou, no question about it.

I may be unfair on him as he is entitled to choose whichever club he wants. But I would have liked to see him at a club like United that was struggling after Fergie's years but instead he picked the easy option to go for the best team in the country at the time on the back of a Champions League semifinal, which is he still to match having spent hundreds of millions. And yet he lost the league the first year to a manager who had a worst team and had never managed in the PremierLeague

It takes time for Pep to implement his philosophy. He has made average players like Sterling seem world class.

He's done a great job with Sterling but I dont think it's fair to call him average. He's a 23 year who CIty played £50m to get at 20 years of age, when £50m was a lot of money.

He likes a certain mould of wingers like him or Sane'.

I'm not knocking Pep at all. I love watching City play and think he's great. But I don't think you can play that brand of football if you don't have the best squad in the league by far. And at Barca, Bayern and City he has had that. For me the best manager of all time has to beat better teams as that is where the value added by the manager is clear

My bias is swinging to be honest. It feels bad having King and Fraser against Fab. Burnley are know to score little too. With the defensive Watford manager and his 442 I would back Watford for a clean sheet or solid defensive performance.

Just watching that phenomenal UCL game Chelsea vs Liverpool 4-4 in 2009. boy what a game it was. Legend says net is still shaking after Alex's free kick...

Chelsea v Liverpool was one of the best rivalries the CL has ever had. I think the 2008 semi-final 2nd leg was even better than the 4-4 in 2009.

I’m considering monreal from gw3/4 onwards as a “nailed” way into the arsenal defence, bearing in mind AMN and Kola are both injured. I did see stats showing Emery does enjoy rotating full backs but would he have any other options? There was some talk of welbeck moonlighting as a LB but can’t see it tbh. What are people’s thoughts on the arsenal defence? Understand Man City game (and even Chelsea game) is not a good barometer of solidity but do folk think they are strong enough to keep the likes of West Ham, Cardiff & Newcastle out (teams that may have traditionally got at the soft centre)? Nacho’s price may also be about to fall. I would only bring him in if he starts against Chelsea or West Ham & the defence looks ok.

TLDR: thoughts on monreal when arsenal fixtures turn

    Thx in advance

Didn’t know bellerin could play LB. Also didn’t realise Litchsteiner could play LB as well but note he did come on for AMN.

Lichsteiner doesn't mind what side he plays on, as long as he can moan at the linesman as that is all I have ever seen him do on a football pitch!

Planning a bit ahead. Got DDG and a 4.0 and Sakho as a fourth defender. Switch to Tomkins instead and a 4.5 goalkeeper or set and forget on DDG and keep Sakho?

    1. zotter
      • 16 Years

Set and forget deffo. Would probably downgrade Sakho anyway to Tomkins and use funds elsewhere

Alright. Thanks! I think Sakho will come really good this season as a BP magnet and for his clean sheet potential so I am keeping him for now.

Robertson Mendy Van Aanholt (Wan-Bissaka Cedric)
