After gaining an unwelcome set of red arrows in Gameweek 10, the Scoutcast crew are in need of a lift.

The perfect man for the job could well be Watford’s bargain basement striker, the aptly named Isaac Success Ajayi.

Joe, David and Az discuss the merits of bringing in the Nigerian, who could enable a formation shake-up with a greater focus in defence and midfield.

Among the midfield success stories recently has been Ross Barkley, who has averaged 13 Fantasy Premier League points a match over his last three run-outs. His potential to liven up a Fantasy squad in the doldrums is also discussed, as the crew answer the community’s questions.

The rotation threat facing such potentially potent Fantasy forces as Barkley is considered in further detail, as is whether stronger benches may be needed to cope with unexpected no-shows from well-owned stars.

Bournemouth’s chances of ensuring their stellar form can trump a tricky fixture run also get an airing, as does the best differential picks and clean sheet prospects for Gameweek 11. This also features the selections of Luke, who due to internet issues was sadly unable to attend this week’s show. He’ll be back next week though to see how his picks faired.

Is Haz (C) with Mendy (VC)
    a bit risky.
Haz might not play 90 or maybe a set back before deadline and Mendy always has the possibility of rotation.

Other option like Salah Mane Mitro Wilson Fraser available

Cool. Thing is last season showed away to top six Salah was not his best but to be expected I suppose. But would take some risk away. Thanks

I am leaving towards Salah(C) myself with Haz as (VC)

Arsenal are not good defensively as it is and I think they will actually try to attack Liverpool, leaving them open to Liverpool's counter. I see a high scoring game like 4-2 in Liverpool's favour.. I think the corresponding game last year was 3-3 with Salah getting a goal and assist.

I don't have Kun either, so that isn't an option for me.

2 FTs done and dusted. Anything worth a hit? 4.3 itb.

    Current team for GW11:

    Ryan
    Alonso Mendy Trippier Doherty
    Salah (vc) Haz (c) Billing
    Arnie Mitro Wilson

    Henn Fraser Knockaert AWB

Billing over Fraser?! Fulham are crap but so is Billing.

No way I’d play him over Fraser. I’d say there’s more chance Bournemouth score against Utd than they don’t.

General advice re Man City defense.
    Does Ederson cover Mendy ?

Reason being I don't want to drop Doherty to the bench given his stats and attacking play.

If you play RAM plus Doherty as a 4 then it means dropping a midfielder or striker to the bench.

    Opinions welcome

Ederson getting more points that I thought he would including bonus but never going to cover explosive nature of Mendy. I got both.

Got to decide week by week if Doherty can't be benched or. It and will usually be a hard call.

Surely Success will be replaced in the Watford starting 11 by Troy Deeney, who will be available for selection this or next week?

Is Success likely to be another none starting bench fodder that can’t be relied upon when rotation and injuries hit?

    1. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

My opinion is that Success will keep his place until Watford lose or put in a poor performance. It's not exactly a 'his place to lose' thing but Gracia so far this year has been sticking with winning teams even as players become available (see Holebas and Kabaselse staying on the bench despite coming back). That, plus he really likes Success.

      1. Klein
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

But he cant keep deeney on bench. He is the club legend?

      2. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

Holebas was dropped because he played badly and Kabasele was sent off and suspended. Since those players have left the team Watford have not conceded a goal so it’s not a surprise that they have held their place.

Deeney is the Watford Captain. was in good form, played all but 2 minutes of every game but then became injured, which is a completely different situation to the two defenders.

I sense a bit of confirmation bias around Success because we desperately want a playing 4.5 attacker, I want him too ... but ... I feel that in a couple of games he is toast imho 🙂

        1. Pierce34
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 4 months ago

I have no plans to get Success, I'm just going by the evidence I've seen. You are right about Holebas and Kabasele though - maybe I was hasty in claiming Gracia would just stick with the winning team.

He does like Success though, if you look at interviews from this year.

It’s a big dilemma really, that 3rd striker spot.

Personally I would rather be stepping up to the 5.5 to 7 mill range 3rd forward and have 4.5 mill playing & nailed mids and defenders on my bench .... but oh boy, a 4.5 mill starting forward is so tempting 😉

    Should I do..
    A) Cook + Jimenez > Kiko + Success (1.4 ITB to make cash)
    B) Fraser + Jimenez > Pereyra + Success (0.5 ITB)
    C) Other suggestions?

    Current Team for GW 11:
    Ederson
    Alonso Trippier Robertson Cook
    Hazard Salah Maddison Fraser
    Aguero (C) Jimenez

Success may be a huge trap. Gw10 showed how important it is to have a reliable bench.
Deeney and Gray will be back soon and Success will return to the bench.

I’m considering going without Salah (currently in team) as my team looks so much better without ....

Mane and Robertson coverage I think makes it ok - do you disagree?

Liverpool have their best team for a generation and their best chance to win the league this year. Not only do they need to win, but they need to spank teams to catch up with Man City's goal difference.

Fulham at home is as good as it gets.

Full disclosure: I own Salah Mané Robertson.

Alonso Robbo Mendy, this could be the first year of a 200 point defender if they can avoid injury

I’m thinking of going without Alonso due to the bigger premium you have to pay vs the alternative at that team.

ie Alonso - Luiz > Mendy - Laporte > Robertson - Van Dyke

Balb for me. Brighton have 2/6 home games and these are not even particularly good (lei and palace).

Might have lost .2 but there was 3 points off the bench this week when I needed them. Don't expect anymore than that. Hopefully usually not needed from the bench often as third bench spot is normal for Stephens.
