The community reached out to the Scoutcast crew this week for help in battling against an emerging template led by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian’s 50% ownership and six double-digit points returns in his last eight starts have left Fantasy Premier League managers forced to look for other options in the search for a significant green arrow.

Joe, David and Az consider some key strategies to counter the high ownership of players such as Salah, as well as Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

Doubling up on attacking options is among suggestions made by Joe, especially as this has proved a successful tactic in seasons past.

Az instead has been looking for differential captains, with Raheem Sterling the latest to be handed the armband in an attempt to beat Salah backers.

Meanwhile, David is following the advice of 2014/15 champion Simon March in keeping the game simple. He advocates backing obvious selections who are in good form and leaving others to make risky, and perhaps calamitous, moves.

Elsewhere, the crew look back on their Gameweek 23 scores, find out about the community’s roughest and smoothest recent moves and also consider the merits of drafting in last weekend’s hat-trick hero, Wolverhampton’s cut-price midfielder Diogo Jota.

Impending blank and double Gameweeks also come under scrutiny, in particular, the merits of investing heavily in Manchester City, who are among teams set to see matches postponed due to cup commitments.

The possibility of a double Gameweek 25 makes the outcomes of this week’s League and FA Cup games crucial to David, Joe and Az’s transfer plans as they finish off with a look at Gameweek 24’s likely moves, best differentials and possible clean sheets.

Aguero subbed right after missing an absolute sitter. Could see Pep putting him back into the dog house.

Higuain seriously? It would have been smarter to buy Piatek for £30m, a player who is young and in great form.
Especially with the sale of Morata, the cash could have been used for this transfer.
Just because Sarri was desperate to reunite with his old player...

Yes, the only positive is that Haz is back to the left wing where he belongs.
But Sarri has to sort out Kante and put him back to his central defensive midfield position.
        His stubbornness is beyond me.

Agree totally! 10 mins into the Arsenal game and you could see how the match was going to go. So frustrating. Not sure why Chelsea don’t go 4231, would suit their players perfectly.

Sarri is a really poor tactician and clearly he is not bothered to change if things go wrong.
As a Chelsea fan I feel bad that we lost so many games and points because the way the team was set up.
At the start of the season Giroud was up top and Hazard on the left, it was great! Haz was my captain when he scored 3 goals against Cardiff...

Yeah, sad days if Sarri is too proud to try something different.

If I see another Kovacic Barkley sub after 60 mins, I’m going to go tits!

      Chelsea all over.

They won the fa youth cup 5 years in a row and you rarely see any of the players given a chance.

      1. Yome
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

It is not only at Chelsea. Look at City for example, they had to sell Diaz who was not getting any game time.
I agree that young players should be given more chances; why is Hudson Odoi not playing ahead of William or Pedro?

Solksjaer at least is playing Rashford ahead of Lukaku and Lindgard ahead of Sanchez/Mata! And it works!

        1. how now brown cow
          • 11 Years
          7 years, 3 months ago

Agreed. If you look at spurs and liverpool, youth is given a real chance. TAA, winks for example.

Mourinho never appeared to care about giving young players a run - they could be binned at any time.

Hudson odoi at spurs would have been given many more opportunities despite arguably having more competition.

          1. Yome
            • 14 Years
            7 years, 3 months ago

Yep, I would rather give these young players a real chance rather than going out on the market to overpay for players.
Pulisic is going to come in the summer so Odoi will definitely be binned; such a shame.
Same thing will happen as with Sancho...

On the plus side I reckon going to the bundesliga is a great experience for them.

So few English players play abroad and experience different systems.

Absolutely, Dortmund, Bayern are top teams and the atmosphere is great in the stadiums there.
It is a no brainer for them to make the move, they feel they are more wanted abroad than in England.

I'd imagine Higuain is purely a stop gap/holding pattern to get them through the next 16 weeks until May, then Sarri will try to put his stamp on the squad properly during the summer

      1. Yome
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

Let's see, he might be gone this summer if it continues like this.
A big squad overhaul is needed with the likes of William, Drinkwater, Cahill, Zapapcosta, Kovacic... who need to go.

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 16 Years

Yep, but instead he's shunting Kante OOP, losing CHO to Bayern & not giving RLC a chance. Its a bit of a circus.

We're heading for a genius/madman inflection point very soon with Sarri I think

            • 8 Years

You are right in everything except RLC case, he's played a ton this season, started every league cup,fa cup and europa league game + some league ones and when he's not starting, he's subbed in at 60-ish. Last 3 weeks he's injured so hes not playing.
But he got plenty of chances this year, more than under any other manager

            1. Yome
              • 14 Years
              7 years, 3 months ago

Maximus meant he is not giving RLC a chance in the premier league. He should start ahead of Kovacic.
RLC has been great in the Europa league games scoring couple of goals.
Why did they bring Kovacic at the first place to put RLC on the bench? I cannot understand...

Sarri is a great coach. He's only had half a season. This crop of Chelsea players have got the past 3 managers sacked. They're clearly to blame.

Kante and Hazard out of position is definitely contributing, but I don't think Kante could play the deep lying playmaker role, so he's either dropped or out of position. Fans wouldn't accept him being dropped or sold so...

Higuain will probably flop (score 5-7 goals) but Sarri trusts him to play the system more than the other two shitbags.

You'd think so, but importantly Chelsea's tactic of using Jorginho has sort of been found out. Higuain playing doesn't change the entire system upon which Sarri's philosophy is built upon.

Be interesting to see of course.

You'd have to agree there's a problem at the moment?

All the players and managers come out saying 'just disrupt Jorginho' and then Chelsea lose a fair few games.

I'm not saying he's a bad manager, but it feels a bit Wenger-like at the moment.

            Seems one dimensional, yes.

I've got a spurs season ticket and they were terrible against is in the league. Jorginho exposed and defenders couldn't handle sonny's pace.

Semi final was a completely different story though despite us trying the same tactics.

I believe if higuain or any half decent forward had played they would have won.

Sarri's system works, I don't think Kante and Kovetic would really be his first choice as Jorginho's partners. Don't really compliment him very well.

Improved dramatically by adding Higuain? I do not think so. He failed at Milan, his best years are probably behind him. Juventus wanted to get rid of him after they got CR7, they kept Mandzukic instead of him...
Chelsea should get better with Haz back on the left wing but there will be problems in midfield with Kante still played out of his natural position.

I TC-d Haz last time I played. He got 12 (x3) I think and missed several one on ones in his second match.

              Lol I wouldn’t say good.

It was a freak season by all accounts. Started off with Mahrez as 4th mid as I thought he’d do well. Started off with 15 Gw1, which was most off the points for that week! (33 or something). 1.5m OR. Was mainly green arrows from there.

My personal highlight was 4 back to back clean sheets with Southampton, Forster, Clyne and Bertrand. Although in one week Tadic outscored all of them!

Salah has no DGW, wouldn't trust a City player in a DGW after the Sterling debacle last season and Spurs have terrible fixtures in GW32 and 35 so Hazard is going to be high on the list of possible TCs this season whatever point you play it. With those fixtures it would be hard not to take the opportunity (were it to arise) but much like Aguero against Sunderland/Stoke two seasons back it will end up being a let down.

Gone downhill ever since Costa left, unable to replace him, etc.
Why not give Michy a chance? He was superb at Dortmund, obviously a flop at Valencia but he was crucial for Chelsea at times. Giroud could have played more too since his link up play with Haz is good.

Dont see any reason to rest the "usual" starting lineup do you? They've had extra days off (those who didnt play today), which can only benefit their likelihood of starting...and I think Kun starts too, because to me, until shown otherwise, he is the #1 there and needs more match time, not rest.

    GW27, bench:
    Bennett vs Bou
    Wan Bissaka vs Lei
    Ings vs Arsenal

Not great but not awful either, i think bench will be able to endure Sane & Laporte no show, without transfering them out

Neymar crying as he left the field but then again I can’t remember a game where he hasn’t cried in.

It's a real shame that a guy with his talent may not be remembered for his football.

This, he will be remembered for being a money grabbing selfish pansy imo.

Shame. They’d have given us a good game if they were full strength

So as it looks likely that Arnau might stay, how risky is he to bring in? i.e. Will he throw a wobbler?

Dodgy knees plus dodgy temperament = avoid.

Aye, you're probably right. If he proves the temperament bit, maybe worth a punt but both together is not worth the risk.

I'd keep Digne for a little more. Can you do straight Alli to Mane?

0.1 shirt, but can get that from downgrading 4.0 goalie to a 3.9

I can't remember the last time the CL last 16 was so exciting. An English team every night and up against quality opposition too bar City, but AM v Juve makes up for that night.

    Kepa . Button.
Van dijk. Rudiger. Doherty. Wan Bissaka. Kiko Femenia.
Salah. Hazard. Pogba. F. Anderson. Billing.
    Rashford. Jimenez. Kamara.

3.9 in the bank. I want to replace F. Anderson, so what to do...?

    A). F. Anderson > Jota ( But then I would have 3 Wolves players )
    B) .F. Anderson > Sigurdsson
    C). F. Anderson > Sane
    D). F. Anderson > Someone else
