“We’re in the Endgame now.”

With just one round of fixtures left of the season the Scoutcast team attempt to wrap up all of the outstanding talking points ahead of Gameweek 38.

Andy, David and Az began by overcoming the frustrating nature of Gameweek 37 in order to get truly excited about the final day of the campaign.

Not surprisingly, the key player to be discussed was Son Heung-min, whose red card against Bournemouth ruled him out of Gameweek 38.

We looked at all the potential replacements and examined all the implications of moving him on for a cheaper midfield options.

That included our thoughts on Manchester United and Southampton assets after poor performances in Gameweek 37.

Next up was a debate on what Wolves can bring to Liverpool in Gameweek 38, especially with so many managers either double or tripled-up on them.

In the aftermath of the Reds’ incredible Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona, we also looked at what we thought Jurgen Klopp’s men are capable of in their Premier League finale.

Also, an injury to Andrew Robertson on Tuesday night prompted discussion about what to do with the left-back in Gameweek 38.

Finally, Andy, David and Az tackled some last day of the season dilemmas from managers wondering what tactics to employ to ensure the highest possible finish.

This episode of the Scoutcast can be accessed on our YouTube channel or embedded in the article below.

Once again, we apologise that we are still unable to publish it in a podcast form and will endeavour to rectify this for the 2019/20 season.

depends on who is son replacement is, who you will captain
prob aguero or mane, hes gonna cap salah, could come down to cap choice

    Sorry post fail above

Looking ahead to Sunday, depending on Salah and Robbo injury news, how does this look after a planned 1FT?

    £0.6itb
    Lloris
    Robbo*, Laporte, Valery
Salah (C), Sterling, Mili, JWP, Babel
    Aguero, Wilson
    (Foster) (Jimi, Doherty, Yoshida)

Alternative plan is to get Rondon for Jimi and play 3-4-3 with Jota first on the bench (instead of bringing in Babel).

Thoughts always appreciated - cheers lads

    1. Amey
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

      Salah should play imo.
I'm also in same boat with Robbo Injury & Yoshida+Doherty on the bench.
Will most probably play & hope Robbo is fit. Yoshida 1st sub (so Valery+Yoshida for me.) Not keen on taking hit on Defender.

      1. Don Kloppeone

        Hey bro

Yeah I think at the moment I am happy to make my move and leave Robbo - worst case scenario either Doherty or Yoshida come in for him anyway which could be a lot worse.

Just need to get to a decision on

            Jimi > Rondon/ Mitro
            or
            Jota > Babel

Leaning towards Babel atm as NEW haven’t actually got a great record away vs London teams at all and Babel in tasty form

            1. Amey
              • 7 Years
              7 years, 2 months ago

              Mitrovic for me

                • 8 Years
                7 years, 2 months ago

                Still him vs Babel?

Babel’s stats are better (just compared them in the tool). High xGI and form better last 6 home matches. Also far more likely to get an assist and baps

So pretty sure I’ll be going him and having Jimi ready to come on from the bench.

But my mind may have changed by Sunday!

  7. You want sum?

    Etheridge (Hamer)
    Shaw Ake TAA (Wan-Bissaka, Kelly)
    Mane Hazard Sterling Pogba Milijovic
    Vardy Wilson (Jimenez)

    1ft
    1.4mil ITB

    Etheridge to Allison
    Ake to Laporte
    Jimi to Arnie

    For -8

I'm leading my ML by 10 points or so.

Worth a -8 on the final week?

    Closed the gap on my ML rival again, 18 points behind now after being over 100 points behind 5/6 weeks ago;

    Only differences are;

    Me - Laporte, TAA, Hazard
    Rival - Cathcart, Robertson, Pogba

Both only got 1 FT, he's got 0.7itb I've got nothing. I'll keep a close eye on his TV etc but he's known for blocking hence only having 3 different players! Should I rely on my differentials to close the gap or bring in someone silly and captain to go all out? I think I would be gutted if I did the latter and it turns out my differentials are enough.

    1. Greek Flair
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

I wouldn’t be comfortable having 3 differentials to get 18pts. If he puts another of your players in that’s 2!

Good point. I could do Hazard & Son > Salah & Redmond for -4 and captain Salah?

        1. Greek Flair
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

I like those changes, you gotta go for it with one 1 week to go, no playing safe if chasing in 38.

    2. Dr. Mantis Toboggan
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

I'd look for one more diff and try to captain someone you think he won't.

      1. Essrick
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

I'm thinking Redmond for my differential.

If Robertson isn't fit he'll do him to either TAA or Laporte to block. I prefer Salah to Hazard this week and I think he could be the best captain pick so should be worth the -4 and I'm pretty sure he won't even have Salah.

Are we expecting Salah to play the full 90, or there abouts?!

Don’t have aguero so I think surely the next option would be Mo.

Paranoia in regards the head injury and a 4-0 victory against Barca without him playing worrying me about giving him the armband.

I think the protocol is 7-10 days so it is tight. Klopp i doubt will give anything away to City. Salah will be desperate to play to keep Golden Boot among other things. Tough one...

Slipped just outside the top 20k this week with a 35 point debacle. Really want to creep up a bit and improve on last years 25k. Any thoughts on this? Luckily didn't waste a transfer on Gunn or Pogba in the end so I have two FT's...

    Foster
    ROBBO Doherty Valery
    SALAH(c) Mane Eriksen SON

Tempted. Not worth -4 to sell but I think he will start.

Also his recent home form isn’t too bad actually!

Same maybe can be said for City too. It can go one of two ways really. Just leaning on pool side more as they will be riding high from last nights performance

            Yep

I was very doubtful about my Mane option but I think the emotion overload from last night is going to impact Sunday.

      Which makes it fun.

I'm avoiding Kun and probably going with Mane - unless I go really punty. I just see more goals in that game. Brighton are not going to come out and play while there's every chance Wolves will.

Aguero or Salah the best options imo.

Going for the title and golden boot and probably the two best goal scorers in the PL over the past 2 seasons.

        He's my fall back.

Huddersfield away are way worse than Huddersfield home. Soton are clearer favourites to haul than United were in my book. But slightly put off by rotation - Redmond plays surely but what about the team around him?

    Hazard & Son > Salah & Redmond for -4?

I'd captain Salah to make sure I don't captain the same player as my rival who is 19 points ahead + possibly an extra differential in Redmond taking me up to 4 diffs.

Mitrovic, Wilson, Rashford, Deeney, Arnie, Rondon all have good fixtures and could haul.

Not if you check out Wilf's record at Selhurst.

How many goals has he scored this season? How many have come at home?

The only good news is that that is where he gets assists - haven't checked but I assume all 3 were pens.

Was originally my Plan A but I have moved away from it.
CRY home form is poor and BOU away form is conversely strong. Zaha himself has only returned twice at home this season. 1G vs WHU and 2As vs HUD. It is not a straightforward game at all imo.

Prefer the slightly cheaper and puntier picks of Rondon, Mitro, Arnie personally if you are planning to drop Jimi

Haven't posted here for a while as I've been trying to do my own thing, but would really appreciate your advice.

I'm top 4k ... my best season by far, mini leagues are won so I'm playing for OR, and don't want to mess up at the end.
    Here's my current team :

    Gunn Ryan
    TAT Laporte Duffy Valery Matip
    Sterling Mane Hazard Jota Hudson-Odoi
    Aguero Vardy Jimenez

1 FT, 0.7 ITB and thinking of losing one of the Wolves attack. Players I'm considering are :
    - Zaha, Calvert-Lewin, Arnautovic and Wilson
    - Frazer, Milivojovic

In general, do I go for one of the safer picks to consolidate my rank, or do I go all out to improve it with a punty pick. If so, which transfer do you favour?
    Many thanks

I like Calvert Levin pick but his finishing is not good enough when he gets scoring changes so that's why I would maybe pick Arnautovic. GL.

      Well hopefully Gunn plays.
Other than that I would maybe lose either Jota or Jimenez for Redmond or Arnie?

Kind of like the Arnie move slightly more and keep Jota.

Would go Jiminez to Wilson myself.Palace reserve central defence looks to lack pace and Bournemouth have been great on the counter attack especially in recent away games.

This season has been much less predictable than last season.

This is proved by my performance in the talksport predictor game (correct scoring prediction for each PL game). I played this by selecting the shortest odds for each result/ correct score. You get points for correct result but wrong score.

Last year: About 200th out of about 80,000 people.
This year so far: 5425 out of 55,363 people.

This will include people that gave up. You have to do it each week, and unlike in FPL, you don't have a zombie team, you have to make predictions to score anything. So I'm not even in the top 10% really.

To have so many more games not going the way of the odds is quite strange. Why do you think that has happened?
