The release of Fantasy Premier League’s price list for 2019/20 could see Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) become the go-to Everton defender over the summer.

Lucas Digne (£6.0m) had originally been the target for the Toffees’ appealing early-season fixtures, but many were a little surprised that he received such a hefty price-tag.

In this latest Members article, we weigh up the two Everton full-backs against each other to see which can provide the best value from Gameweek 1 of the new campaign.

As this uses data from our Members area, you will have to sign up in order to view it.

What effect do the new prices have?

    *
    Robbo - Coleman - *
    Salah - KDB - Siggy - McGinn
    Kane - King - Jota

    A) Ryan and TAA
    B) Alisson and Zinchenko

A leaves me with no City defensive cover, but does allow me to get both TAA and Robbo. Zinchenko might turn out to not be first choice anyway. What does everyone think?

Go with A they can be downgraded.

      A.

I’d look at another midfield option McGinn won’t score many and gets a lot of yellow cards.

Long could be a handy first sub at that price too.

I decided to make a team without the big three midfielders (No Salah - Mane-Sterling) just to see what would happen.

    5-3-2 gw1
    Pickford (Steklenburg)

    VVD-Robertson-TAA-Laporte-Ake

    Maddison-Sigurdsson-B.Silva (Dendocker-McGinn)

    Aguero-King (Arnautovic)

Captain options mainly come from Aguero or the two Liverpool wingbacks.
Tempted to keep the treble liverpool defence for the first two gameweeks.
    Bench gives rotation options
    Keeper conundrum solved.

Too much on the bench IMO

It could work for sure - my hesitation with Kun is how variable his scoring has become though - he got 54 of his 200 points in just 3 games last season so you have to be almost surgically accurate with captaining him...

The stereotypical Salah/Sterling double act is quite template... but I think it takes away a bit of that variability - but who knows, Kun could end up the star this season and literally score 40 goals with that ciy midfield teeing him up, he just never seems to get there for some reason.

Siggy I’m cautious on,although I acknowledge his outstanding potential. To me he’s a dead ball specialist first & foremost & im just not confident in a big increase in his output, particularly with Digne monopolising DFK/corner duties, and with Siggy potentially losing penalties after missing 3 last year... but equally no one will be suprised if he has 50 points on the board after the first 5 gameweeks

I’d also prefer Digne and/or Coleman to Ake - Akes goal threat is huge, and he’s a fast improving young centreback, but Everton with Gueye pulling the strings became like a 1990’s series A side defensively towards the end of the season, and Coleman & Digne are an intruiging double act

B-Silva - I just can’t have him as an effective FPL player I’m afraid - superb footballer IRL mind you, and maybe Pep will challenge him to up his goals & this is his breakout season 🙂

I've an inkling that Bilva will have a breakout season and get double figures for goals and assists, 10-15 of each. He's that good and the technique and intelligence are clearly there so he just needs to be in the position to shoot more. I'm hoping Pep will encourage him. Not gonna put my house on it mind! On the flip side, if this happens it probably means that he is playing further forward all the time and Sane isn't getting a game which is sad in itself.

I'm a City fan in case you haven't guessed already

Interesting, so it really hinges on whether Sane is sold and another midfielder is brought in.
Pep does seem to love Bernardo Silva though.
Didn't he say he finds it impossible to drop him last season?

Think he will still be first name on the sheet regardless and rightly so, but might be central mid rather than front 3 which is obviously very different from an FPL points perspective.

I looked at an option of 'solving' the Bernardo Silva issue.
By getting Sterling instead and switching Aguero to Wilson. Allows me to move to Salah Mane easier if needs be.

How do you think Aguero will do this season?
              Will he keep penalties?
And will there be more rotation with Jesus than last year?

I'd expect the same sort of season again. More or less certain for pens I'd say and still first choice for starting over Jesus. He's always going to be a bit of a rotation risk though, with his injury record it doesn't make sense to start him every game. This and this not great points record on the road mean there are probably better value options about this season for me. He's never going to be a bad choice though and this will probably be the first season I don't go with him from the off.

Yeah I don’t see him ever being that type of player personally, there’s just normally always more points for the same budget, and without restricting a precious Man City slot, when you look above & below him in the FPL midfielder standings

I think he specialises in the dreaded “assist of the assist” but there’s zero doubts about his quality - a superb footballer, his (current) game just isnt hugely well aligned to the FPL scoring system.

I’ve seen many people share your prediction that he will finally arrive from an FPL perspective this year though so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Ake is only in there for the first two weeks I would say.
Fair point on B Silva he was more of a 'throw him in' player because he is city.
He could be changed to a Chelsea mid after a few gameweeks.
Willian is one I am thinking of.

Looking at a possible 3-5-2 something like this:

    Ryan (Button)
    Robbo Mendy Digne (4.0, 4.0)
    Salah Sterling Zaha Siggy Maddison
    King Jota (Long)

Jota and Mendy liable to change. May look at a way of getting Vardy in.

It is slightly different to my approach as you got two big gun midfielders in there.
      I like it.
I doubt there will be RMT's like this in the coming weeks - certainly different.
Bench very light though - but could get away with one sub early in season.
I am not a fan of the Zaha pick personally with the rumours of a move etc.

I think 433 gives me most flexibility although it means going with out Sterling. Aguerro can change to Kane / Auba depending on form / fixtures. I'm trying to reduce my hits this year as took too many last season so have tried to pick players i would potentially keep until the end.

That's true, but delaying my 1st wild card for as long as possible would be good. I normally use it at the 1st international break to build squad value which has worked well but be good to be in a position where i don't want to do that.

This, that not many people consider. Most price falls happen between gw2 and gw4 - and more falls than risers. A 0.1m loss at this stage is actually quite costly in terms of points potential over the course of season. Risk either way I suppose with 2 amazing fixtures then city.

Ah. Missed that. Two city defence isn’t a good use of those city spots imo

Think it is okay if I tweak and use 3rd for midfield, otherwise I'd agree.

I'd tweak that so you have sterling rather than kane

      And is zinc nailed?

Yes considering that, don't feel I can do Salah and Sterling though and Salah better value for me. Might do KDB instead of Kane.

At the moment he is. Pep stopped looking for a new left back because he likes Zinc and Mendy is always injured. Will keep an eye on pre-season, could always upgrade to Mendy fairly easily if he becomes first choice. Would prefer that really, much more attacking potential than Zinc.

Zinc “could” be gold. I’m also keeping a close eye on that situation. I’m not convinced Pep and Mendy get along either

I’d prefer the opposite so that Zinc gets that LB spot for sure 😉

Yes 5.5 would be good value for City defender. I'm keeping an eye on Ottamendi and Stones too, if no extra CB signed (which there probably will be tbh) then one of them could nail down a spot.

There’s literally no mids at 6.0 or less that interest me - unless I’m missing something?
Think I’d rather have a 5.5 def instead -hence likely starting 5 at the back....

    I am both:
    1. Excited to see fpl have been sensible and actually priced United, Arsenal, Chelsea competitively

    And

    2. Still not getting any of them in.

Somehow none of them look worth it (yet!) compared to the talismen at the middle ranking clubs. Who are people thinking of from these three clubs from week one? Or is it wait and see for you too?

Mkhi could go nicely. But I thought that last year at the beginning too.
