Eriksen benched as both Son and Moura start for Spurs

There are some slight concerns about Harry Kane‘s (£11.1m) positioning in this afternoon’s match between Spurs and Newcastle.

The centre-forward naturally keeps his place in the side but shares the team-sheet with both Lucas Moura (£7.5m) and Son Heung-min (£9.5m).

Crucially, Christian Eriksen (£8.9m) finds himself on the bench once again, which could require Kane to drop deep to provide creativity for Moura and Son.

Spurs did not look in particularly good shape for the first hour of their Gameweek 1 hosting of Aston Villa, when Eriksen was on the bench.

It was only after he took to the field that Mauricio Pochettino’s men really got into their attacking stride.

It will, therefore, be of great interest to Fantasy managers how Kane, Moura and Son line-up against Newcastle.

Elsewhere in the Spurs side, Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) continues his spell at right-back while Jan Vertonghen (£5.3m) makes it onto the bench but is still waiting for his first Premier League minutes of the season.

Opponents Newcastle line-up as expected, in a 5-3-2 formation, which continues to feature FPL midfielder Miguel Almirón (£6.0m) as a centre-forward.

Meanwhile, Wolves host Burnley in the other 4:30pm kick-off, with the benching of Leander Dendoncker (£4.5m) the biggest news.

After starting both league matches for Wolves so far this season, he has been replaced in the starting line-up by Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.0m).

That marks the only change from the side that drew with Manchester United, Matt Doherty (£6.0m) back at right wing-back after missing out against Torino midweek.

Hoping to crash another party away from home is Ashley Barnes (£6.6m) who came into Gameweek 3 behind only Teemu Pukki (£6.9m) and Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) for shots in the box.

Spurs XI: Lloris; Rose, D Sánchez, Alderweireld, Walker-Peters; Sissoko, Winks; Moura, Son, Lamela; Kane.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka; Ritchie, Dummett, Lascelles, Schär, Krafth; Saint-Maximin, S Longstaff, Hayden; Almirón, Joelinton.

Wolves XI: Patrício; Boly, Coady, Bennett; Jonny, Neves, Gibbs-White, Moutinho, Doherty; D Jota, Jiménez.

Burnley XI: Pope; Pieters, Mee, Tarkowski, Lowton; McNeil, Westwood, Cork, Gudmundsson; Barnes, Wood.

Any news on Martial yet? Kind of want him out to feel justified for my impending kneejerk of bringing Salah and Wesley in for him and Kane.

Unlikely every week as it's flexible as I'd be happy to start Mings or even Lundstram in good fixtues. Depends if Norwich can keep on doing their thing though!

Aubameyang got slaughtered yesterday for his performance away to the European champs. Meanwhile everyone will be silent on little wittle Harry Kane going missing vs Newcastle at home and trying to dive for a penalty. Thankfully VAR is now here.
    There are levels to this.

I don't think either deserves much criticism. Arsenal's tactics were completely wrong yesterday, and today Newcastle outperformed Spurs and cut off the supply to Kane.

Arsenal’s tactics were wrong? Really? With less than a complete squad, they decided to let TAA and Robbo own the wings and ping balls in. Yet, Pool win through those channels. Instead, Arsenal lost through players failure to execute. Meanwhile Spurs have been outclassed at home by Newcastle and Villa.

I surprised how they couched the analysis like that on the bbc - as poor arsenal tactics.

On nbc sports they had it right -

Arsenal deliberately let the two liverpool full backs bomb on.
The idea was to leave the two arsenal centre backs alone with pepe and aubameyang
The idea was to catch liverpool on the counter using Pepe's and Aubameyang's pace.

Anybody else wildcard, realise you'd made a mistake within minutes, then start to settle down and enjoy the freedom, start to feel optimistic on Friday, before realising what a bloody idiot you'd been throughout the weekend, only to start the Spurs game in hope, then watch as he barely gets a touch?

Sometimes, rarely, I actually really, really enjoy FPL. This weekend, I missed those days...

Definitely sometimes a combination of bad decisions and bad luck forces your hand.
I look on as a challenge now as the only way is up from here on - about 60-70 points behind most on here.

Kane's goals this week were going to be only tap-ins like Agueros, maybe a penalty. He's not fully fit. So on average he was going to be a bit lower on the variance spectrum. A blank is probably unfair to be fair. It's got to be Man City and Liverpool attackers for the next few weeks.

      1. George Sillett
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 6 months ago

This is nonsense. What evidence do you have to back up the claim that he is not fully fit ? How on earth can you also know in what manner he will score his goals ?

        1. Plant Based FPLer
          • 7 Years
          4 years, 6 months ago

He's been looking a little sluggish, not running around fast anywhere. If he's not running around, he's probably not outpacing defenders on breakaways, etc... His goals against Villa were tap-in like, the one at the edge of the box good skill but also first game of the year defending from that Villa defender who was probably equally tired. Moura was placed in front a bit I read? That's the evidence that the manager knew.

There was no telling just how bad Newcastle were going to be, so I'll give anyone that. They stepped up defensively, at least in individual efforts. Maybe Kane's xG was still very high on this note, I can't deny it.

          1. George Sillett
            • 8 Years
            4 years, 6 months ago

He's never outpaced any defender though. Pochecinno is the problem not Kane.

            1. Plant Based FPLer
              • 7 Years
              4 years, 6 months ago

Ok. Well, if he's naturally not so fast then I don't know. It still seemed to me he was cardiovascularly not quite there yet which could keep his mental wherewithal down, maybe his reaction time and quickness. His preseason goals looked very sharp so he still has the talent. We'll see, obviously.

Pochettino is probably the new Wenger. He'll probably need a sudden super squad one year to win and then it's top 5 finishes. What do you say he's doing / not doing?
