Burnley sit top of our Season Ticker for the next ten Gameweeks, with their first fixture after the international break kicking off a run of matches in which they meet only one of the ‘big six’ (a far from watertight Chelsea side) between now and the end of November.

Those Fantasy managers who place a lot of emphasis on favourable fixture runs will, therefore, be surely considering a move for a Burnley asset or two ahead of Gameweek 5.

Sean Dyche’s troops have had a tricky start to the campaign but haven’t disgraced themselves so far, following up a 3-0 win over Southampton with a battling defeat at Arsenal and then a 1-1 draw with Wolves – a game they really should have had won before Raul Jimenez‘s (£7.4m) last-gasp penalty.

The Clarets were outclassed against Liverpool in Gameweek 4 but the Reds and Manchester City are already starting to pull clear of the chasing pack and again look to be in a class of their own following their dominance in 2018/19.

There is plenty of encouragement for Fantasy managers, then, particularly as Burnley are free of the Europa League commitments that plagued them at the start of last season.

The Clarets’ form had picked up at the back-end of 2018/19 with Dyche going back to basics with a settled side and a 4-4-2, an approach he has carried into this campaign.

Our Members’ article below looks at who the stand-out Burnley performers have been this season, asking whether Ashley Barnes‘ (£6.7m) form can continue and whether Dyche’s side can keep a handful of clean sheets over the coming months.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 4

Been tweaking my WC squad (naturally). Decided to maintain my triple-triple model. I started with Triple Liverpool/Everton/Wolves (and 2 City). Wolves didn't work out. Now it's triple Liverpool/City/Burnley, plus a short-term Hammer and a Villain for fixtures.

I thought I'd be clever and get Wood rather than keep Barnes whom I'd got a couple of weeks back, but the latest FFS analysis has persuaded me to stay on Barnes.

Yeh, that's what swayed me in the first place, but the article on Burnley persuades me to pay the extra for Barnes.

Burnley are good until GW15 - that's long-term enough for me. Come the day, 2FT and a benching creates a new model.

Yeh, that's how I roll. Everton' defence's initial 2 clean sheets did me proud until it didn't!

Pope will be busy with saves, so I'm happy with him.
Tarkowski for the fixtures - if they disappoint he can go.
Barnes - again, easy alternatives if he lets me down.

      Points / Games / Price / PPGPM

      A VVD 19 4 6.5 (0.73)
      B TAA 22 4 7 (0.78)
      C Mo 36 4 12.5 (0.72)
      D Mane 25 3 11.5 (0.66)
      E Firmino 27 4 9.5 (0.71)
      F Matip 17 3 5.5 (1.03)

If you go TAA, VVD, Mo you get all their corner assists plus all VVD’s attacking returns...

Still reckon Robbo could come good though

Penalties & selfishness will keep Mo firmly ahead of Mane on points, as it has done the last couple seasons

I actually think more points will come from attackers this year so goinbg with slightly weaker defence hoping it pays off?

        Team would be

        Adrian
        Zinchenko | Pieters | Robertson
        Salah | Mcginn | Sterling | Mount
        Barnes | Aubameyang | Haller

        Button | Dendoncker | Kelly | Rico

          A even with Pope.

It's okay to have a relatively 'weak' defence like that but the problem is your 2 subs could be albatrosses if they are non-starters.

Curious what your WC team would look like since you are considering to use it. Gotta be a pretty damn good one

I don't know why but I want to bring Aubameyang in. I have the feeling that he will score high.
But then whom to sacrifice from my big hitters.
Also want to go invest less in defence. Get rid of two pool defenders.

Yeh you keep that all day long. Maybe a downgrade on Robbo or VVD to facilitate an upgrade on Cantwell or Greenwood.

Watched the Everton game, and Mina was really threatening with his headers, almost scored as well. Digne is the best Everton defender but I can see Mina getting at least 3-5 goals this season if he keeps fit for the whole season. Wins majority of headers from corners.

Digne can get points out of nowhere.
Digne if you have the dilemma

I think you're right. Got 3 in 10 starts (and 3 sub appearances) last season.

He is really good getting headers on set pieces, will soon get first goal of the season.

Looking ahead to GW 7 as it will help inform my next moves who do we think is the best captaincy option that GW?

    A) Salah (shu)
    B) Sterling/Aguero (eve)
    C) Kane (SOT)

Salah or Kane. Everton play well against the top sides at home.

Salah at this point in time. Tottenham and Kane have quite a few alarm bells ringing right now.

Interesting week for captaincy. Kane out of those options, but it could be a good week for Vardy. Need to look into it more.

Looks a week where it could be pretty split so taking a punt might not be as risky but weighing up whether to lose Salah in GW6 for a few GWs...

      D) Son (SOT) a good options I hadn't considered -arguably better than C

Thanks for the article. Very useful. I have Pope and likley to double up with a DEF for the next few weeks.
However, why did you not mention the full-backs at all? Pieters (4.6) & Lowton (4.5) give as cheap an entry to the Burnley defense as Pope does and Pieters has scored more fantasy points then anyone apart from Barnes so far, albeit due to a monster 14 pts in GW1 - but surely this should be analysed to whether Pieters can replicate his assists or whether GW1 was just a fluke.

I've both Pope and Pieter's in my WC team. Big fan of Pieters, surprised Whoscored have him as weak on crosses.

It's the same with Andy Robertson! If the completion rate goes down that pops up.

You get passing as a weakness with people with high key passes but low pass percentage too.

What is this hype about city defenders? With Laporte out surely they won’t be that solid?
