It’s back! Fantasy Premier League has relaunched for 2020/21 and, as usual, we’ll have everything you need to set you up for the new campaign.

All of our pre-season content will be collated on THIS PAGE, which will be regularly refreshed between now and Gameweek 1.

It is where you can find our price-by-price, position-by-position rundown of pretty much every asset in FPL.

There’ll also be analysis of all 20 teams, Scout Reports on new signings and Moving Target articles on those switching allegiance.

Any information we learn about the various pre-season fixtures, from line-ups, goals and assists to the wider Fantasy talking points, will also be documented here.

As the transfer window develops, you can track all the ins and outs of FPL assets throughout the summer.

A lot of our content is free but, to gain access to every single article we publish and benefit from all the tools and stats on offer in our Members Area, subscribe from as little as £1.46 a month by clicking below.

What's this about Wolves blanking GW1?

Speculation due to Euro League involvement. Probably more an issue for City and Utd, but I think all of em will just have to deal with it and start GW1 like everyone else.

Anyone know Martial PPG since Bruno joined ?
Bruno has 8.4 but he's 1.5m more than Martial.

Can be a good swap & savings of 1.5m

Would be sooooooooooooo useful if we could just get those pesky FPL points added to members area

Its mad that we don't even have the ability do a simple analysis like this 🙁

Ah, so Bruno isn't untouchable then!

Sorry, don't have Martial's post-Bruno ppg. Considering him though. Can't find space for Bruno but can easily find space for Martial.

        Double United attack 😛

Martial can save 1.5m ! Can be very helpful tbh

Indeed. Also another thing is Martial could easily outscore other forwards in his price range, depends how Werner settles I guess.

Losing the extra points for goals and clean sheets will more than negate any extra bonus points though.

I like Rashford, because of his re-classification.

United assets have been well priced. Could see lots of attacking double ups but not sure if they can handle playing with such attacking energy over a long period. There is precedent for them dipping

Who are the best full backs/wing backs now?

Obviously TAA and Robbo, but anyone else?

    Issues for me are:

Mendy & Walker won't always start
    Pereria & Chilwell are injured
Who is Chelsea's left back gonna be? Alonso is in talks with Inter.
Will Chilwell go City or Chelsea?
Man Utd defense holds no appeal.
Docherty & Viangre may not have a GW1

Jiminez, Ings, Martial, Wood, Kane, Antonio.

Decent prices for guys you can rely on every week.

Look, we know all the big boys are in midfield this year, but you still need 3 strikers. The forward prices could have been much worse. At least you can get what I would consider to be a premium forward for £8.5m.

          1. Amey
            • 7 Years

Tony Ings Jimenez are good options.

Rest all will be outscored by Taa Robbo Doherty VVD 🙂

I'm sick of swapping 6.5m striker's around like a clown mate. Maybe I'll drop that price point all together 😀

Pick one and stick for a while. If a good option in that bracket emereges, switch. But don't waste more than, I don't know 3 transfers for entire season on that posistion.
Just pick Antonio and anything better comes out, consider it.

Yeah so do I, but was playing around with 4-5-1 and you can get an awesome midfield...obviously the lack of money left means the choice of strikers then isn't great. But playing just 1 means you can still get a good defence.

        Just trying things out though...

Having said that, depending on fixtures and results there are a lot of interesting 4.5 defenders to have. VvD and Doherty may also easily overscore similarly priced forwards and transfers might be needed more in the midfield. So atm I have 4-4-1 with rotating 4.5 def and Soucek. The risk of early fwd bandwagon being a false one is also significant. 5.0 and 5.5 fwd:s are also a bit meh imo tbh.

Yes, that's where I'm coming from...the £5.5m Forwards seemed like a waste and putting that money back to the DF seemed better value.

Also, I consider certain defenders like Trent, Doherty to be pretty much midfielders with CS points.

Add to that the midfield having players who just a few weeks ago were actually forwards anyway, i.e. Rashford, Auba, etc.

    5. The 12th Man

One of the 4.5m strikers needs to be nailed on for back up.

If your starting forward doesn’t play and both your 4.5m forwards are non starters then your playing with 10 and no striker.

I did some math on this in a community article last season. Historically, 4-5-1 has been a very middling formation with which to start the season. Obviously, this season could be different, and with all of the movement of really good players to the midfield (auba, greenwood, etc), it might be.

Every season its the “big at the back” because of value argument. While there is some merit there, it always shifts forward as the the season goes on.

On that note, if the Manchester teams really do blank in 1 and 2, big at the back followed by a GW3 wildcard to add the power midfielders may prove popular.

yeah it's the shift of forwards like Auba, Rashford and Greenwood to midfield that has got me considering this.

Also, the Manchester teams possibly blanking and an early wildcard does allows to shift focus.

one to think about a bit more...

Three big hitter mids and Werner makes it tight on the budget for rest of the team. Either I give up on Werner and downgrade, or compromise in the midfield.

Werner is coming off 28 Bundesliga goals and 8 assists - if he had gone to City he would cost 10.5.

Im not sure about Bamford or Gomez at 5.5 - is he definitely starting every week?

Matip was (is?) injured and it's Gomez's place to lose, I think he starts the season, but not nailed.

I rate Werner, if I decide to risk it'll be him.

I understand the deadline change to 1.5 hours before the first game to deal with the team leaks issue. But I can’t help but think it would make more sense just to accept the leaks and instead move the deadline to be 30 minutes before the first game.

That way everyone has access to the same information. The reason being too you’re always going to get leaks, and all that will happen now is the leaks will be earlier.

    Thoughts?

I agree with you, but it is what it is.

At least there should be no more of this ‘game is still updating’ nonsense while the first match of the Gameweek has already kicked off and you’re trying to check your opponents teams.

FPL is a global game. I’m GMT - 6, so the first deadline is usually in the middle of the night. I actually have kicked myself out of bed at 4:15 AM to see if there is early news, but I certainly don’t enjoy it.

You mean having the deadline 1.5hrs before gw starts? Well less leaks then so you can setup your team on a more level playing field.

I live in Berlin so took advantage of leaks last season, I would prefer not doing it.

No as in having it 30 mins before first game as opposed to 1 hour before.

I get the different timezones, which is just naturally an issue with a global game, moving it 30 mins from the current deadline shouldn’t make too much of a difference.

Because you could change your team the night before. Moving the deadline to enable team news worsens the problem discussed above.

If half an hour before gw then that forces dedicated players to be there at that time, if not then you are in a disadvantage.

That is something that I'm not keen on, and I think I'm not the only one.

Not to mention players that would have to set an alarm in the middle of the night to setup according to lineup news.

But in all honesty it's a bit bare bones for me, basically no real sub unless Brewster gets a good loan deal. So one of the mids will have to go, likely Sterling for Puli and upgrade to get some more value in attack and a decent first sub.

Not sure. It's a pathetic move, though. As long as the free option is available to all, why penalise those who want to add a bit of interest to it? I've played FPL fairly seriously for about a decade now but not sure how long I could be bothered with it if there was nothing to play for.

Good to just play around with a few of the budget players to enable you to see how many premiums you could have.

Also, planning no United or City. Means you can almost choose your premiums already. It’s their price players that you really need the fixtures for.

Will get more mins, but will rotate with Azpi.

If you're going for a Chelsea defender (brave) then Chilwell (5.5m) will be the best option.

            • 14 Years
            5 years, 8 months ago

I think Azpi is too big of a threat to him. Rudiger is probably the safest bet atm.

These players don't have a lot of goal threat, but the CSs should be enough for 5.0m.

I know the XGC thing but I’m put off by how Frank has failed to out a cs sheet side together yet. His Derby team was not much stronger in defence than Chelsea last year

Im also swayed by the analysis that Chelsea are susceptible to goals from quick breaks - exactly as Derby were. Personnel change may not alter that much.

Some will doubt Werner but 28 goals in 33 Bundesliga games is an incredible return. On top of that, he managed 1.6 key passes per league match - the third most in the Leipzig side. 8 assists were fair reward.

Yeah, I was quite surprised Mark isn't keen.

I know the forwards are at a disadvantage, but this is a player with pedigree, will be on the shoulder of the last defender, probably on pens, and in a team that had more xG than Liverpool last season. He'll get chances.

Very early first draft purely to satisfy the addiction. Playing 3-5-2 and will have to do something about the City and Utd given that they would miss the first GW. Here it goes

      McCarthy (Nyland)
      TAA • C.Taylor • Dallas (Lascelles, Branthwaite)
      Salah • KDB • Fernandes • Ziyech • Soucek
      Jimenez • Antonio (Brewster)

2 for me until we find out what 18a and 18b means.

Don’t fancy using a chip on players who will be coming back in on close to zero training and preseason. Think City and United may take time to get up to full speed. One at a time feels ok

It does depend fixtures totally. See below a potential team for instance if I am to BB in GW1.
Why do you say about GW3, you expect that’s a double?

Last couple of seasons I considered BB in GW1 and always pussies out. Both times it woulda done me really well. This season I’m sure I do it, just have to find some decent players based on the games that week

Also, another benefit to it imo is when you load up on cheapies you surely find some who instantly have an impact. Then for the next two weeks I have a decent squad to choose from, essentially not having to make any transfers as I legit have 15 to choose from.
I might not even need to WC

      Mitro - Wood - Antonio

Probably followed by a WC in GW3 or something to get KDB and probably Bruno in.

All fixture dependant. Looks ok for a BB but whole team could look completely different if Liverpool and Arsenal don’t get a favourable GW 1 fixture.

      Was Vinagre injured last season?

He has never been injured before in his entire career.

But he is 21 and is behind Jonny in the pecking order. But Jonny has a serious injury and won't start the season, so Vinagre looks a good option. Looks a good player when he plays.

            So you're saying he's due one? 😉

Proper nailed into my squad until Jonny is back. Plenty more 4.5 defs to switch to when the time comes.

No, Jonny is the regular left wing-back.

        McCarthy Pope

        TAA Dalls Braithwaite Shaw Tierney
        Salah Soucek ______ Ziyech Auba
        Davies Jimmy Mitrovic

It’s a team based on both logic and emotion, here is my reasoning:

Anyone know who the designated penalty taker for West Brom will be this season?

Man Utd's attack looking very enticing this season

        - Greenwood as a mid & only 7.5 - could be a Delle Alli/Harry Kane/Gareth Bale type breakthrough season ahead
        - Rashford as a mid could be glorious
        - Martial only 9.0 (less points for goals & CS's, but baps will even out at least half of that deficit)
        - Bruno only 10.5 - probably good for 30+ returns easy, possibly 40+

Plus they're all going to have 2 extra games vs. most of their peers from GW3 onwards into the bargain

Probably good to have some sort of route towards some Man Utd after their blanks

Treble attack involving Greenwood could even be lucrative if fixtures are kind

You've been all over this place for days telling the world how you're going double or treble Liverpool defence plus Laporte, now you're adding triple MU attack to it?

Are you getting Kane, Aubameyang and Aguero as well?

I'm still on my triple Pool defence, with Bruno and Greenie. KDB anf Foden too. How's yours looking?

Too much choice! Laporte & Doc at the 6.0's look lovely, as does VVD at 6.5

He could get triple Liverpool defenders + Laporte + 3 Man U attackers. It is feasible.
