Our Meet the Manager series is back for the 2021/22 season, as Joe continues his regular catch-up with some of the community’s best and most interesting Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.

As usual, this video and podcast series focuses on those with an incredible rank history but we are adding to that.

This year we will be including managers with an interesting story to tell about how FPL is impacting on their lives, irrespective of rank.

We’ll also focus on managers who are offering unique insight and research into the game to propel them – and hopefully us – up the rankings.

Our latest video is no exception, with sports psychologist Ross Dowsett joining Joe this week to chat about his latest book which looks at how psychology can help FPL managers.

This chat focuses on how Ross plans to use the psychological theories and ideas he is studying to improve his performance, using examples of why he has gone wrong in the past.

Joe and Ross (@FPL__Raptor) discuss the biases that prevent FPL managers from achieving a stellar finish and how to address them.

They also chat about why the time of day transfers are made is important. The science behind ‘dullard’ and ‘maverick’ managers is also on the agenda.

With the 2021/22 season in mind, Joe takes a look at Ross’s Gameweek 1 side to see how he is already putting psychology into action ahead of the new campaign.

Joe and Ross’s chat is available as a podcast as well as video via Fantasy Football Scout’s Youtube channel.

Stones- and its not close. Plays on a much better team, more clean sheets, and much higher PPG than Digne. But as with all City players, you need to cover on the games he doesn’t play.

I wrote off DCL earlier but I'm starting to reconsider a bit now that I'm forced to look at Watkins alternatives.

DCL is very nailed and I just saw a stat that Townsend had one of the highest cross completion rates from last season. Everything is landing on DCL's head from Digne, from Townsend from everywhere.

    Fixtures are great ofc.

DCL + Benrahma OR Antonio + Buendia

The latter is obviously template but it's still not actually THAT highly owned.

yeah i've kinda gone through a similar process with dcl: Rafa has got history of really setting his teams up for a target man, often with a lot of success (most recently Rondon for us)

I imagine it will be a player of a similar skill set.
Ings is one of the best strikers defensively in the league, so someone who can play that role in the press.

We already have enough wingers, Armstrong, Tella, Redmond, Djenepo, Walcott & Elyounoussi.
        It will be a striker.

We also don't favour loan deals unless there is an obligation to buy, i.e. KWP deal and recent Livramento transfer (a lot of speculation regarding loans of different players).

    Martínez

    Morning,
Having a look at a midfield spot I can 'play' around with

    Bachman
    Veltman TAA Shaw Digne
    'Havertz' Salah Bruno Raphina
    Ings Toney

Foster White Brownhill Obefemi 1M ITB

Havertz spot can go to Mahrez for GW2, could go Greenwood, Pepe, Grealish area at any time to get on good fixtures or players doing well
If I ignore Marhez I could make Veltman to Coufal now. Gives some room also for a later move for a 5.5 def to someone like Chilwell

Just playing around but any thoughts really welcome

My forward line is now Ings Vardy and DCL.
Really like the look of it.
    Vardy certainty on pens
Ings certainty and likely on pens
DCL headers and certain focal point

Ings is great signing for Villa he will have the legs around him from Watkins and Bailey should get a lot of goals until he is injured!

    1. Joggers Nipple

Maybe it's my pessimism as a Southampton fan, but Ings hasn't had a very good pre-season.
Then again, it could likely have been because his head was already turned. Interesting selection, who's on penalties is another question between him and Watkins.

Quick poll for the Man U fans here: will cavani start the 4 games? Give me a percentage chance

Not a fan but I'd say 0%. He's not even back in training yet.

Low. It looks like Lingard is staying so i think Cavani could sit with Lingard Sancho Greenwood front 3

Big news. Result: doubling up on SAINTS!!

Hear me out - Watkins to Obafemi, Brownhill to Tella (both now viable benchies). Fofana out too so Coufal comes in. I beef up my defence - 4.5s out. Can afford Martinez. Done.

Southampton will sign a new striker. Obafemi and Tella are not particularly viable.

Tella did come off with a calf complaint in their win against Levante.

Just benchies though - not expected to step up.
Wonder if Saints would splash the whole lot on Tammy? He prolly won't want to go, mind.

Tella a good one to watch out for if it enables all that!
