Joe, Seb and new regular Scoutcast presenter Andy help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 1 and reveal their own teams.

In one of the longest Scoutcasts yet, Joe, Seb and Andy look ahead to the 2021/22 campaign and, in particular, their Gameweek 1 line-ups.

In this season start survival guide special, each of our presenters focus on the key events and information driving their decisions, as they take it in turns to reveal their teams.

For Joe, Fantasy Football Scout’s Complete Guide to FPL Pre-Season has been a major factor in choosing players.

Using the guide, he highlights some of the key developments, particularly in recent friendlies, that have interested him.

This includes the chance for fringe and squad players to shine, while their teammates recover from international duty. Minutes racked up, injury news and tactical tweaks are also covered.

For example, could Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) shine early on in the campaign, with injuries and lack game-time elsewhere among Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City troops?

Armed with an array of statistics, Seb has been using information around last season’s over and underperformers from the Premium Members Area to guide his likely line-up. As a Leeds fan, there is certainly a place or two for the Yorkshire side’s assets in his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Andy marks his Scoutcast debut with an audacious plan to ignore one heavily owned premium pick and instead use his money to spend big on a potentially lucrative double-up elsewhere. If it pays off, he could leave his fellow Scoutcasters for dust this season.

Our trio pick a differential each, which marks the return of an old favourite of Joe’s. There are the next four fixtures to frisk too and the Scoutcasters look back on their career history and outline their realistic goals for the season.

In addition, there’s a new feature. The Scoutcast is taking over the team of a Fantasy manager with a stellar rank who has to dip out of this campaign for mental health reasons. Unable to delete his team without removing his career history, the show is to step in to collectively help him out while he takes a well-earned break to recover.

This episode was aired live via Youtube on Monday 9 August. Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to get notified of future live episodes.

In addition, the Scoutcast and all our other podcasts are now also available via our Soundcloud channel.

    Morning everyone.
If Kane remains at Spurs what will their forward line look like? I’m contemplating bringing Dele in but maybe he gets benched with Son playing off Kane? Bergwijn, Lo Celso and Moura also in contention.

Antonio / Ings / Toney GW1. Switch out Ings for DCL in GW2 or 3 at the latest.

Son for sure. More game time and underpriced for a player who got 245 last season.

I'm starting with Mahrez, swapping to Son from GW3.

Veltman better option irrelevant whether you have Sanchez or not.

What are peoples opinions on Tuanzebe as a 4.5 defender? I feel like he will get good game time at villa and could be good for a starting bench player and possibly rotating to starting position too certain games. He’s by far Villas best 4.5 option and I feel they loaned him to get game time. Certainly underpriced too at a Europa to mid table team

Slightly dull but which is the best 2x4.5m defender rotation?

Currently on White Ayling because of security of minutes and avoiding doubling up on Brighton defence with Veltman and Sanchez.

Anyone know of a good place to see each teams pre season stats? Results, who played, if anyone stood out?

I do read the articles on here that cover them but would like to maybe have somewhere I can just click on a team and see everything.

Suppose the first place I could check is that teams official website.

    Mo and Mane thoughts

Negative is that historically they rarely blast off together - it is normally a binary equation where one gets double digits but not both simultaneously. A hedge play and poor if you consider the chances of double defence returning together is almost a slam dunk.

Negative Jota is simply waaaaay cheaper.

Positive is that an in form Mane is a viable captain option in a way that Jota never will be with rotation and minutes worries. That opens up th e possibility of starting with both and moving one on in week 3 while retaining Liverpool captain option in weeks 5 on.

Assuming minimal price changes Mane is an easy swap to Bruno or Son - this allows a wait and see approach to which to move to in midfield for weeks 3/4 captaincy.

Same assumption made, Mane or Mo are likely to be straightforward swaps to either Kane or Lukaku - again leaving a Liverpool captain in place. If you go Mo Bruno then Kane is a - slightly - harder reach if you want to retain a Liverpool captain. If you go Mo Son then any move for a premium forward is going to be more awkward if you want to get a higher status mid in return.

Mane or Bruno? Which fixtures do you prefer in weeks 1 and 2. Are you feeling like a lucky punk?

Mane? He traditionally does well when TAA fires. When TAA returned to FPL form in weeks 28 on Mane improved his attacking returns in the exact same proportion (42% to 41%)

    1. mack

TAA, Tsimikas and Jota better picks as other liverpool spots in my opinion

      1. Moderately content penguin
        • 7 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

But do any offer a second captain option there? TAA arguably if you're feeling bold.

If you start with Mo as single premium then it is tricky (not impossible -simply tricky) to move onto a second 11.0 plus premium option as captain and still leave a Liverpool captain in place.

Is Son a great captain choice? Might be. But Kane playing makes him very second best there. You need to hope the Kane move doesn't happen.
