Andy North and Mark Sutherns drop into their regular Friday night slot for another laid-back look at the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points ahead of Gameweek 13.

Mark is recording for our subscribers every Gameweek throughout the upcoming campaign, so sign up via this link in order to see his regular appearances.

Ben Chilwell‘s (£6.0m) injury, coupled with some early Sunday night transfers, has forced Mark to take only his second hit of the season. However, when it’s Marcos Alonso (£5.6m) coming in, he seems more than happy to take his medicine.

As for Andy, he’s closing the gap on Mark after another green arrow and, having resisted a hasty move for Reece James (£6.1m), is still considering his own hit to swap out Phil Foden (£8.3m) for Diogo Jota (£7.6m).

Subscribers can view the embedded video below:

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning all.
In my shoes would you do something or save FT
I could take out Semedo for James (though timing seems wrong) or bring in another striker for Antonio/Armstrong and bench Semedo

    Ramsdale
    Trent Cancelo Rudiger
    Raphinha Jota Salah(c) Gallagher Son
    Toney

    Foster Antonio Armstrong Livra

I'd say save and decide if you want James or Alonso next week, .6 in the difference between their prices now and that can go a long way but if James keeps performing the way he is that may be worth spending on him. But I'd be a tiny bit wary that not playing across from Chilwell may impact him a bit. Alonso is very attacking too but he's more selfish and doesn't have the pace Chilwell does so teams might focus more on doubling up on him.

    4. TopBinFc

Save, play Semedo next 2 GWs if you've kept him until now

I think I am just gonna bench Chilly this week with a view to bringing in Alonso next week and despite the Foden doubts, I am loath to ditch ahead of great fixtures. Looking ok?

I would just probably get Alonso to be ahead of the bandwagon and set you up . Foden is too wide and Pep will rotate.

      1. Art Vandelay
        • 15 Years
        4 years, 8 months ago

Cheers, but I disagree on Foden and believe he remains the best option at City despite recent disappointments.

I did consider Alonso this week but don’t feel there is a rush and am happy to bring him in for the Witford game.

Fair enough. I thought a lot about it but sold him for Gallagher to free up cash . I thought with the way Pep rotates i want players who i know will start over this period. With them playing so well midweek without it wouldn't shock me if he didn't get straight back in but who knows . I would want him playing false 9 really or Silva is a better option

I'm in the exact same boat. Moving to Alonso next week (which is only a few days away of course) and Foden isn't moving from my team even if we got early news he wasn't playing tomorrow, he's been playing too well and fixtures are too good to drop IMO (and a lot of signs are pointing to him being ready anyway).

Yep, this is how I see it.

Congrats! Yeah most of my better moves this season have been when I've not made moves at all, I'd normally pigeonhole myself into a stupid position with some move I didn't need and then need to stick with it or take hits to get out. That fixture run is great and after watching how much City's attack was focused on Foden against Everton even though he was out wide I knew I wasn't selling. Think I'll end up with a triple up actually soon enough with Bernardo (in addition to Cancelo), it'll undoubtedly give me headaches at some point but they've looked so good this season and I think it wasn't far off January last season when they really turned on the style and went on that amazing run after a bit of a slow start, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again.

I don’t know what to do with my 2 FTs here:

    Ramsdale (Foster)
    Cancelo TAA James (Livra Duffy)
    Salah Jota Raphina ESR Mbueno
    Vardy Jimenez (Antonio)

Duffy & Mbueno to Alonso & fodder appeals, but I like Mbueno v Everton this week.

Shipping out Vardy to fund an upgrade to Bernado also appeals, but I want to give the Watford match.

Any thoughts? Should I ignore this weekend’s fixtures and think longer term?

    0.7 itb too

I would hold for at least this GW. Mbuemo and Vardy have every possibility of scoring against their opposing teams this week. Both at Home aswell. I’d give it one week before deciding to ship them out.

Foster Williams Brownhill Livramento 1 FT, 0.2 ITB

    A) Chilwell > Alonso

I decided to do B for a hit as well as Chilwell to James, even if Foden may play this week, I didn't like Pep's comments and feel he could see a fair bit of rotation going into the Christmas period so wanted Jota. My mistake was bringing in Foden instead of Jota last week.

Don't get rid of Rudiger, Alonso and James will both be rotated a bit in this next period, it's possible Rudiger may not even be rotated at all given his history. His attacking stats of late have been very good too, don't discount the possibility of more returns in the near future. Find a different way

I would be really surprised if James doesn't play this game. James and Chilwell have given Tuchel the goals they need, having struggled at times earlier in the season. Now he's forced to not have Chilwell, James doesn't get rested vs United. Maybe vs Watford though.

I think Azpi had a chance but longer term makes sense to get in James/Alonso I think.

Also wouldn't be getting rid of Antonio, but can understand your reasons. Though would defo not be for Hwang (very short term).

If the Liverpool game got postponed would we find out before the deadline?

I either want to bring in Gallagher or Jota

I'd hope so. I have injuries and Livra on my bench, so I'd be wanting to bring in a starter to cover TAA and Salah myself.

    Only Livra on my bench.

Yeah if that’s all your bench cover, both are good moves so id take the -4 for one of those. Dealers choice really … and do the other one next week. Maybe Alonso this week as Foden might still play.

    Morning all,
On my way back from work and need to lock in my team before bed so would appreciate some last minute advice.

Antonio or Duffy for the bench?

    Current starting lineup is:
    Sanchez
    TAA, Rudi, Cancelo
    Salah, Raph, Gallag, Son
    Ant, Vardy, Hwang

    Subs: Duffy, Manq, D.Luiz

Apologies in advance for the jinx!

In total, Salah has been on the winning side seven times from his eight games against Southampton and boasts an impressive nine goal contributions (seven strikes, two assists) in that run.

Furthermore, Salah has never failed to bank a goal or assist against the Saints at Anfield, and the 29-year-old will have no intention of breaking that hot streak on Saturday.

That last clause is pure tabloid lazy bolllox padding, isn't it?

Pointlessly telling us his age and that he doesn't intend to stop scoring goals in football matches!
