We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Sunday’s Double Gameweek 26 fixtures.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-expanding website, and our own Premium Members Area.

GOALS, ASSISTS AND BONUS

INJURIES AND BANS

Harvey Barnes (£6.5m) was left out of Leicester City’s squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday through injury.

The winger was expected to start, after producing three assists in his last four Premier League appearances, but manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his post-match interview that he had a tight hamstring.

“He was due to play, but felt a bit of stiffness in there (hamstring). It was too much of a risk really. With a few days to rest, he should be back for Thursday.” – Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers also provided a positive update on Jamie Vardy (£10.3m), who has been missing since the end of December.

“Jamie (Vardy) will be back in seven to 10 days.” – Brendan Rodgers

Elsewhere, Robin Koch (£4.3m) was involved in a first-half collision against Manchester United. Despite initially being allowed to continue, he was then later replaced by Junior Firpo (£4.7m) after 31 minutes.

Pedro Neto (£6.4m), meanwhile, has not featured since April 2021, when he suffered a major knee injury in a Premier League match at Fulham, but made his long-awaited return as a substitute in Double Gameweek 26.

The talented winger will surely be eased back in gently, but could perhaps be a useful addition further down the line.

“He can bring good things for us. He’s a special player. It’s a long time without playing and we need to give him minutes like this to give him confidence. We know what he can do for us, and now it’s teamwork. Every time to keep going.

We have Pedro (Neto), we have Hwang, we have Trincao, we have Podence, one more time he scored a goal, and it’s about going with solid things with solid performances, every time, with the chance to win points and grow up as a team.” – Bruno Lage

FPL TALKING POINTS

LEEDS’ DEFENCE WOBBLES AGAIN

Having shipped another four goals at Elland Road on Sunday, Leeds United have now conceded a whopping 30 in their last 10 Premier League outings.

Across the season, only Norwich City have allowed more than their 50, with their last clean sheet arriving all the way back in November against Crystal Palace.

It could well get worse, too, with Liverpool still to come in Double Gameweek 26 on Wednesday, followed by a vibrant Tottenham Hotspur outfit in Gameweek 27.

For those on a Free Hit, an attacking double-up of Son Heung-min (£10.7m) and Harry Kane (£12.2m) will surely now be under consideration, given how open the Whites have been of late.

“We have to defend better. We are missing Kalvin Phillips and Robin Koch was substituted and we could not count on Pascal (Struijk) in midfield because he went back into defence. Not being able to come with the three defensive midfielders we have, there is a weakness in the recovery of the ball.” – Marcelo Bielsa

“It is impossible not to be worried. We have conceded 50 goals. Do you think I cannot be worried? How can I not feel responsible?” – Marcelo Bielsa on Leeds’ league position

RAPHINHA DROPPED

The idea of Raphinha (£6.5m) missing a game of this magnitude would have been unthinkable a while back, but after some indifferent form which led to him being hooked at half-time against Everton last weekend, Marcelo Bielsa went a step further in Double Gameweek 26 and dropped his star man.

However, his half-time introduction worked a treat, as he netted Leeds’ equaliser from a Daniel James (£6.0m) cross, his first goal this side of Christmas.

Now, he will surely return to the starting XI against Liverpool on Wednesday, before he embarks on a kinder run of fixtures, which sees the Whites take on Leicester City and Aston Villa in a Gameweek 28 double-header, followed by Norwich City at home.

As for James, he has now produced three goals and an assist in his last six Premier League appearances, although FPL managers will understandably have reservations about investing in a player who so often flatters to deceive, despite those good fixtures.

IN-FORM SANCHO

Following today’s win at Elland Road, Manchester United are now unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches.

They certainly didn’t have it all their own way on Sunday, but were inspired by the excellent Jadon Sancho (£8.9m), who registered a pair of assists, maximum bonus, and in turn, his second successive double-digit haul.

As a result, it’s now three attacking returns in his last three starts for the England winger, as he enters the conversation for those activating their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 27, when United take on Watford at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, Harry Maguire (£5.4m) opened the scoring in the first-half, ending United’s unwanted record of being the only club in the Premier League not to have scored from a corner this season.

In fact, it was the first goal that the Reds have scored from a Premier League corner since April 2021, when they overcame Burnley 3-1.

“I’m embarrassed by the stat (nearly 140 corners without a goal). I’m a big part of that set-play routine but as a team we’ve been nowhere near good enough. If we scored more from set pieces we’d be higher up the table.” – Harry Maguire on Man Utd finally scoring from a corner

WOLVES DENIED CLEAN SHEET IN DGW26 OPENER

Ademola Lookman’s (£6.0m) first-half equaliser denied Wolves their 10th clean sheet of the season in their Double Gameweek 26 opener.

Surprisingly, they often looked vulnerable at the back against Leicester City, allowing the visitors 17 shots on goal, which Bruno Lage touched on after the game.

“I think we had that consistency. Today we didn’t. They created a lot of problems. Against these teams, they have quality players, who can find spaces between the lines, they created a lot of problems and we were there, but not as strong as we usually are.” – Bruno Lage on his side’s lack of defensive stability

However, there are still some excellent fixtures ahead, including another double-header in Gameweek 28, followed by a guaranteed fixture against Leeds in Gameweek 30.

    Foster
    Livramento - Dawson - Cancelo
    Foden - Bruno - Bowen - Ramsey
    Antonio - Edouard - Broja

1FT and probably going to wildcard in 28

    A) Antonio/Edouard to Weghorst
    B) Salah to KDB/Sterling (He would be coming back on the wildcard but I would lose 0.1m)
    C) Something else?

Is it risky going with Foden on FH after he and his mother was involved in a fight this week?

Last time Foden was punished by Pep for his off field antics by dropping him for a coupe of games

(keep in mind he didn't retaliate much. most of the action was taken by his mother)

I generally don't post scores, especially mid-GW, but think I'll make an exception this time.

Was really down after falling from 160k to 1.2m after the GW9 debacle and was stuck around the 1m mark till GW18. Glad to be moving up now and up to 120k. Still some way to go though.

67 with 9 left to play.

Not sure if your a member or not mate but rate my team is a good gauge to help making free hit decisions for me. I put my team in this week against a potential FH team and it was nearly 25 points better off with no hits etc.

I could get 11 out with a -4 but it was awful. Had to play both king and Dennis away to Utd. DCL played city etc..:

For me it’s worth it if it’s over 20 points difference. You have 2 as well!

    FH27

Is there a reason people are overlooking KDB or is it just that he's too expensive?

Having seen a few FH draft teams on here, it seems many are going with Sterling and Mahrez.

I'm currently leaning towards KDB and Mahrez but with Sancho instead of Bruno.

    1. Subzero (-4)
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Likely team value a factor. I’ve currently hit KDB in my free hit draft. if you want Kane son and Bruno I can’t see how you get another city midfielder in there.

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

It is possible but it would most likely mean getting rid of a City defender and going very cheap in defence as well also having the lowest value bench.

This is not an option I like a lot as it doesn't allow for much flexibility in case certain managers choose to rotate their squad

    2. Cojones of Destiny
      • 7 Years

KDB is a great shout however he is a bit pricey which could hurt rest of ur FH team Id personally go Foden or Mahrez or even double up on their attack

KDB is the safer pick for captaincy against almost any time, likely to get 1 return + bonus. But since I'm probably captaining Son, I quite like going with the 2 higher risk, higher ceiling City mids who are maybe more likely to bag a brace v weak defences

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

I'm likely to captain Kane and the higher risk/higher ceiling comment is certainly food for thought.... especially so when free hitting.

Because it's City and Pep, and because it's a good fixture against an out of form team, I feel I'd want to go with the attacker whose place is most secure in that roulette and who also consistently returns. Coupled with an explosive high risk/high ceiling player could be the best way to attack FH27 even if not captaining KDB

It's a good team. Exactly the same 11 as one of the drafts I'm considering.

I would rather have Bruno to be fair, but I also really want KDB and Mahrez as my preferred City attack.

Sancho was also excellent against Leeds, took max bonus points, and is 2.8 cheaper than Bruno. That allows me to upgrade JWP to Mahrez, and have a little extra to upgrade my bench in case of rotation

It's the upside he brings when he does play. He's on penalties as well. I actually think City will outscore Utd this weekend and want to jump on this.

If you've got Livra as a 1st sub, it's good cover in case Pep decides to spin the roulette wheel

Agree with all you've said about Mahrez. Problem is its highly likely he comes on for 30 mins like he did last game, which could easily mean a 1 pointer and blocking any bench points. It's a tough call considering everything, but as of now I'm tempted to stick with Brno and jwp.

I think Dalot but can consider Soton defender over United too.

His benching against Leeds has put me off a little.

Currently on Shaw but trying to work out if Maguire is a better option and worth the extra money.

I also have Livra as 1st sub option

Worth selling White for a BGW 27 player, or save FT and play these 11?

    DDG
    Cucurella, Cancelo, Coufal
    Foden, Raphina, Bowen
    Broja, Kane, Dennis

Rest of bench is Saka, Salah, TAA

If Coufal is fit then save IMO.

What's the big attraction of playing a FH in 27 when only BUR have a double and most of the other fixtures aren't that appealing?

I have 5 players from Liverpool and Arsenal plus Duffy and Reece.

Can get a significantly better team with all the Liverpool/Arsenal plauers benched, and it's not like it's a blank gw with just bad teams playing - Man City and Spurs can be targeted along with Burnley who are decent recently

Although I wouldn't like to target Man City because you never know who is going to show up.

They have a week's rest, Pool are 6 points behind them with a game in hand, Grealish/Jesus are not fit and Everton def is trash.

My FH will well and truly outscore my non FH team given 3 Pool, 3 Arsenal, no backup keeper + the likes of Watkins Antonio

6 players from Liverpool and Arsenal that I'd prefer to keep going forward.

That leaves a team of 9 players which include Foster and Dennis away to Utd and Douglas Luiz. Have 2 other Villa assets who aren't in good form but compelled to keep them as Villa double in 28 and play in bgw30.

FH27 is the only play for me. Allows me to attack the good fixtures that Utd, Spurs and City has plus I can load up on Burnley's double gameweek without being stuck with them later

    FH draft.

    DDG
    Cancelo Livramento Tarkowski
    Bruno Sterling Son Cornet JWP
    Kane Weghorst
    ----------------------------------------------------
    Foster Broja Dier Billiams

    Nothing in the bank.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

Really don't like the Cornet pick. He hardly ever completes a game.

Also think there's value in getting Pope as he can rack up save points over 2 games giving you extra points

      No.

Overpriced for what he has been returning. Seems to be quite fond of picking up petulant yellow cards as well.

How does this free hit draft team looking?

    Pope, Gunn
    Cancelo, Laporte, Mee, Bednarek, Tsimikas
    KDB, Bruno, Son, Kulusevski, Romeu
    Kane, Weghorst, Broja

      Decent.

Kulusevski is an interesting differential. Could pay off

Probably a similar amount of minutes for Weghorst as well and many are jumping on him.

For FH it's okay to go with a punt imo

So is this team worth FH-ing in 27:

    Sanchez

    Bavies, Livra, Cancelo

    Bruno, Bowen, Rapha, Cornet

    Broja, Weghorst, King?

Eight players with decent home games including two dgweekers?

Robertson, Salah and TAA on bench. 2 FHs, WC, BB left.

    B) Pogba/Dennis to Son/4.5m for -4 ?

Wouldn't be too worried about Mahrez benching against Spurs.

He starts 4 games consecutively since 5th Feb till 16th Feb

The rest was due in this game

      Hope that's the case.

Experience however has taught me that Pep roulette doesn't often follow a logical formula and can just be totally random as to who plays and who doesn't

    Sá, Dubravka
    TAA, Digne, Bednarek, Saiss, Tierney
    Salah, Son, Raphinha, Coutinho, Saka
    Jimenez, Broja, Weghorts
