Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 27?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are faced with another challenging captaincy decision as Gameweek 27 and its Friday-night deadline rolls around quickly.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are, of course, facing blanks due to Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, while Burnley are the only club who play twice.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 27 xaptain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Friday’s 18:30 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Wout Weghorst (£6.5m) leads the captain poll for Gameweek 27, pulling in the support of 36.36% ahead of Burnley’s double-header, which includes games against Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

That gives the towering Dutchman a gap of 18 percentage points over Harry Kane (£12.2m), who comes into this round with 18.04% of the vote.

This week’s top three is closed out by team-mate Son Heung-min (£10.8m), who, despite not finding the net in his last three league appearances, is still chipping in with assists and remains a constant threat.

Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m) and Armando Broja (£5.4m), meanwhile, are the best of the rest this time around as Manchester United host a Watford side who conceded four against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, while Ralph Hasenhuttl and his Southampton squad take on rock-bottom Norwich City.

      Very difficult, because I like Pope and Sterling. I think the point gains from Sterling over Sancho will be higher than the point gains from Pope over Forster. So, 2.

      If you fancy a punt, i think Elanga's not a bad option. Played up front at end of Leeds game when Ronaldo went off - could end up there v Wat if Ronaldo rested & Cavani not fit

    Morning! Quite annoying ESR was ill yesterday, as I was hoping to see who starts between Martinelli/ESR when both fit now. Planned to hold Marti long-term, but also want to BB in 28 & obv dont want any non-starters. So I'll have to resort to guesswork I suppose. Anyone know any details of the illness or want to take a stab at who starts v Watford?

      don't sell Dennis. He is still the best value-for-money forward in the game, and the best bench option among the attackers (you can play with 5 mids, who return more points per million spent).

      Looks first choice at the moment but 3 games in 8 days could mean he drops out for a rest in one of them for Lowton.

      I’d upgrade him to Mee or Tarkowski.

    I’m set on using my FT on Jota > JWP this week.
    This will give me 11 players.

    The question is~ Worth a -4 to do Salah > Son?
    This would mean benching one of Dawson or Dennis but at least have some bench cover.
    So essentially it’s Dawson/Dennis +4, Salahs value lost.
    v
    Son v Leeds + bench cover for no shows.

    I’d be doing Fernandes > Son or Salah in 28 depending which way I go.

            Oh no, please decide for yourself. People say a lot of things. For example, everyone here is buying or captaining Weghorst -- I think he will get 4 points. Everyone here is buying or captaining Bruno -- I think he will get 2 points.

            Anyways, I think KdB will play. I have Mahrez, because I can't afford KdB with my TV. Otherwise, I would have gone KdB.

            If you have KDB in your main team, that's great. Don't expect him to be benched. On FH I fancy chasing upside of Mahrez/Sterling (& theyre cheaper), but KDB is still an excellent, captainable option this week

      Salisu is the most nailed defender, but Walker-Peters is close second. He can play both LB and RB, and Ralph really likes him. But, he has been benched before.

          Yes. But, Ralph has a very well documented habit of keeping the winning combination (in reality, the Saints don't win often but he keeps the combination which apparently plays good). So, Livra can be safe for this week, but its up in the air.

              I think KWP is as nailed as it can get in this congested scheduled. Ralph recently compared him to Lahm. He will play all the matches, hopefully.

              But, as I said, Salisu is the only defender whose game time is absolutely guaranteed if fit.
