By losing at home to Blackburn Rovers in Tuesday night’s FA Cup fifth-round clash, Leicester City avoid the Blank Gameweek 28 that six teams will have.

Suddenly their upcoming fixture run looks superb, as the defeat also ensures they play in Gameweek 32 during semi-final weekend.

The Foxes sit 14th in the league table with mixed form and a surprising closeness to the relegation zone. Should they use this schedule to concentrate and pull themselves away from danger, it could be a great time for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to invest in their assets.

With Wildcard season well and truly, so let’s assess the best Leicester options.

JAMES MADDISON (£8.1m)

Just Maddison if fit. Maybe Iheanacho if he's scoring goals and Watkins/Toney become less of an attractive choice

That's the problem with Maddison, if fit, on that basis he is just a double gameweek or blank punt, so may look at him in GW 28

It's a good team. Would probably have someone who plays in bgw28 and dgw29 over Shaw as bgw28 will be tougher considering your Utd, City and Brighton assets.

Dalot can come in as a cheaper alternative to Shaw when it's time to jump back on Utd's defence

Agree with this re: Shaw. Especially if you’re not gonna play him vs Pool. Not much point having him really.

I’d also play Maddison against Southampton - I suppose instead of Mitoma.

Think you'll benefit more by wildcarding this week. Can set your teams up nicely for gw27-29 and get rid of the deadwood in your team without needing to resort to hits

    2. Rico123
      • 3 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

I had almost that exact team last gw (just a couple of alternatives in defence) and have just done Salah and Gnonto to Mitoma and Toney for a hit (might not benefit this week on its own but should payback over 2 weeks). Don’t think you need to rush a wildcard - something like that and then switching a defender (prob TAA) to a Brighton or Brentford player next week gets you to a pretty good place

Just got 106 points(No Hits) with this lot:

    Kepa Ward
    Estupinan Gabriel TAA Shaw Trippier
    Saka Martinelli Andreas Gakpo Rashford
    Haaland Kane Mitrovic

    Proposed Transfers:
    GW26 : Mitrovic+TAA > Toney+Mee (-4 Hit)
    GW27 : Gakpo > Mitoma (4 DGW players)
GW28 : Andreas > Maddison (9GW players) OR FH and get 11-12 players with 2 of the cheapest options as enablers.
GW29 : Martinelli > A DGWer. BB with Saka, Gabriel, Kane, Haaland as Single GW players.

Saves me the WC with just a -4 Hit.

    Thoughts?

I had made a WC team and only made 4 changes to my current squad.
That's why I think that saving it for later makes more sense as I can reach my desired players for DGW27 by a -4 hit and maybe use a FH in 28 or 32.
That being said, I will definitely re-visit my WC team in GW27 and GW29 just to see if it makes more sense. With the international break coming up before DGW29 I will have added flexibility if any injuries or a Toney suspension takes place.

    Kepa (Ward)
    Mee Shaw White
Salah Rashford (vc) Saka (C) Odegaard
    Haaland Havertz Watkins
    - TAA Trippier Andreas

    This is my current team
    - 27: will get 2-3 Bri/Bre players (-4)
    - 28: one or two players less than WC teams (Salah vs Bou should cover a bit)
    - 29: can get as good BB team as WC teams

Hence I don't feel the need to do WC26/27 and again I don't see any point in delaying either.

Suggestions plz whether I should do it or not 🙂

What’s your plan for 28 with Mitoma, March, Estu and Rashford blanking?

  23. Ibralicious

Why are people going with 2 DGW27 goalkeepers with intentions of BBing in 29? Won't it make more sense to ditch the extra Sanchez for a Mac Allister for instance if you can only field 11 players in GW27 anyway?

    1. Fulchester's New Centr…

Because GK transfers are usually avoided & there's a matter of cost involved. Personally I think Kepa/Raya is probably a better combination but then I'm 2m OR so hardly to be considered an expert.

Ah cheers, it makes more sense to go with Kepa, in that case, to have 29 covered and a committed GK for 27 with 2 other outfield options from their respective teams

Sanchez is an option as Brighton have 4 or 5 double gameweeks before the season end. Just need to have another keeper to cover the Brighton blanks in 28 and 32

    Sanchez (Kepa)
    Estu Botman Tripoier Gabriel Mee
    Almiron Saka Martinelli Mitoma Rashford

Have plans to swap Martinelli with Maddison and potentially get Watkins closer to the DGW.

Yeah I do agree that. He doesn’t blank in 28, has dgw in 29 and can sit on my bench for the remaining games.

Did think of JWP as a punt but I will have to bench Haaland / Kane / Rashford / Saka or Martinelli next week which doesn’t feel right.

Was looking at Tarvenier as a punt for 29 but he’s injured

WHU do have a blank in 28.

With everyone overloading on Brighton, and still has city and United players, 28 would be an issue if they want a full team out.

Villa -> Buendia (if nailed) and Watkins
Chelsea -> Felix and Chilwell (if nailed)
      Newcastle -> Almiron (solid option)

It’s a tough call deciding whether to WC 26, 27 or 28!! Any other pros to add to this list?

    26:
    Remove LIV players for MUN
Get Maddison for sot and James for LEE
    Get Kane for wol/NFO
    Extra FT for 27-29
    Max on 27 DGWers

    27:
Extra week on 26 to assess injuries/suspensions etc
26 teams already generally decent this week
    Max on 27 DGWers

    28:
1-2 extra weeks on 26/27 to assess injuries/suspensions etc
    Keep LIV/MCY players for bou/cpl in 27
Ensure 11 starters for BGW28 and get the optimal DGWers for a 29BB (eg less BRE)

I already see the immense flexibility 26 allows over 27 and 28 from your list of points
