Aaroen looked lively in that second half. Could become a future star and he already has the neck-tattoos required from a top player 😛

How’s this looking for an early 1st draft?

    Haaland Ferguson

    Areola Botman Beyer Archer

Think Flekken will wear the number 1 jersey for Brentford. That would give you an extra 0.5m to upgrade elsewhere. Or just keep in the bank.

How's she looking? Wissa good enough to start? Defence good enough? Foden relies on Mahrez leaving.

    4.5
    Chilwell, Gabriel, Estupinan, Botman
    Salah, Rashford, Saka, Foden
    Haaland, Wissa

    (Travers, Botman, Garnacho, Surridge)

    Cheers

Flekken would be my £4.5m goalie choice. Other than that I'd try and get Mbuemo in the team as he's the penalty taker, and maybe have Burn as my other 4.5 defender.

I'm on a similar draft that I'm increasingly liking, but with a weaker bench to fit Jesus instead of Wissa.

      4.5 GK
5.5 DEF, Gabriel, Estupiñán, 4.5 DEF
      Salah, Rashford, Saka, Mitoma
      Haaland, Jesus

      (Aréola, Baldock, Nakamba, Archer)

      Looking at Steele/Flekken, Stones/Shaw and Botman/Fofana/Henry

Thought on the following striker picks?

Gakpo - probably first choice striker at Liverpool, did quite well after joining mid season, scored only 10 points less than Darwin who's been there 6 months longer.

Ferguson - promising young player with 6 goals and 2 assists from 10 starts, but there's question mark under his minutes.

Solanke - looks like a machine, but he's an enigmatic type. Bournemouth have shown glimpses of quality but ultimately they are the underdogs teams love to play against.

Alvarez - great quality but rotation prone like any other City player.

    1. CABAYE4
      • 13 Years
      2 years, 4 months ago

None of Gakpo, Ferguson or Alvarez are nailed on to start.

Solanke - he’s pretty much as good as it gets at his price point. He’s not that exciting to me though.

Not for me apart from Solanke, unless there are injuries. Gakpo could be good shout depending on how pre season goes and if you don’t have Salah. But not gw1 for me

What is driving the one-premium template?

Salah and Kane didn’t have their most successful seasons last year but still ended up clearly 2nd and 3rd for points.

Kane could well leave but if he doesn’t then both are clearly ahead of the 8/9m pack imo.

The fact that you can confidently permacap Haaland. Yes Kane and Salah are great but they're not worth 12.5m if you're not captaining them at least semi-regularly.

      1. CABAYE4
        • 13 Years

I guess it all depends what you do with the money - I’m seeing teams with extra funds on the bench and luxury midpriced defenders because they have surplus to spend.

The reason they’re so expensive is because they’re so reliable. Even the likes of Saka or Rashford who I think will have good seasons again could have periods of struggles.

Am I crazy or could Rodri (5.5m) be a decent set and forget option? Doesn't bother me that he takes up a City slot. I very rarely go for a City triple up due to the rotation.

Lots of other good defensive options that you can pick instead of Stones though. Not a whole lot at 5.5m in midfield. And you could have both unless you really want Foden/Grealish.

At present he's a starter yeah, either as one of our wide midfielders or alongside Watkins.

Ramsey has picked up an injury with England too, so there isn't quite as much competition.

However, we've been linked with Brennan Johnson and Moussa Diaby (wishful thinking perhaps) in recent days and I'd be amazed if we don't sign one, maybe two new attackers, so he's by no means nailed.

Just followed him over last few seasons and think he has come of age and 11 goals and 7 assists from 22 starts....of course he scored some of them coming off the bench, of course, you can't guarantee anything with Pep, but I will have him from start of the season..and I am no Man City fan...

I've talked up Gakpo here for a while. He's the closest to nailed imo, with his main competitors for the position (Jota and Nunez) both being able to play on the wings
