Hold Alvarez and roll with just Senesi in the bench covering Pau?

Or get a replacement in for £7m?

No guarantees that Haaland is back for gw19 at all. Does that improve Alvarez?

They might play 120 mins with poor pitch conditions on Friday as well then another long flight.

They'll have to strap Grealish into his seat and keep him away from the bar onboard.

He'll be gagging for one by now!

Shame Jimenez is out. Don't really see any other worthwhile moves. Think I'd just stick. Senesi is fine to play - would expect more of a weird atmosphere rather than new manager bounce from the Nuno appointment

I'm going to just tag along with your question if that's ok since I was 5mins late back for the 2nd half....

I believe it was due to a bad tackle by Caicedo on Gordon's standing leg in the 2nd minute of the game. Howe called it a nasty-looking knock. Gordon was moving reasonably freely before going down in the 2nd half.

He was limping when they came out for the second half. It was more noticeable when he tried to sprint for a counter and couldn't. Surprised it took so long to replace him, even if Ritchie was the bench option.

Really can't decide on the best keeper option,

    Have Johnstone* and Areola

for max 4.5 keeper, who to get?

A- Dubravka (have Trippier and he might be benched if NEW decided to sign a new keeper in Jan.)
    B- Petrovic (some nice fixtures)
C- Pickford (not the best fixtures)
    D- Henderson

    1. Atimis
      • 9 Years

Not overly excited by these options tbh, looking at the fixtures, possibly B with the highest CS chances, C for the saves

It's frustrating because we really shouldn't do anything about it just in case they play 😀

Tbf, they're cheap enough to bench for the foreseeable future anyway

I think I'll bump Lascelles up to Trippier by GW22. Probably third sub for GWs 20 and 21

Yeah, should start them, pitty that both Las and Livra been playing well and may suddenly be benched anyway as all the boys are back. Would be defo getting Tripp but he has to sort himself first.

      I think he starts

Howe said they wanted to ease botman in with 45 mins, can’t imagine then that he plays the full 90 3 days later, Schar still injured i believe

I’ll be starting lacelles and fully expecting him to play

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years

        The unknowns:

. Schär's injury prognosis. Howe hasn't given a clue of when he'll be back, IIRC

. Botman getting 60 minutes in GW18 or GW19 as he's eased in means he can start and be subbed off at 60' for... Lascelles 😀

. Trippier was benched as he recovered from a knock. Who will be come in for?

The possible lineup combinations are a bit nuts for this coming GW and the next one

That said, I'm starting Lascelles for the next two and hoping

Botman has said before that he doesn't play RCB and considers it a completely different position which he isn't comfortable with. Not sure Burn has ever played on that side. I'm not sure Howe would want to unsettle that side of defence any more with Trippier's confidence not too high. Just conjecture, but I'd guess, Lascelles starts while Schar is out.

Sorry asked before, but looking for views:

Thinking of a free hit on this squad:

    Leno Areola
    Tsimi Pau Digne Gabriel Udogie
    Salah Son Hwang Saka Cheapie
    Haaland Alvarez Darwin

I think it's a decent play, always a lottery of course, but I'd say I could make 15 points out of a FH if lucky.

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

How about just Alvarez to Solanke or Cunha?

KDB is hovering around, so Alvarez's string of starts is at risk

Gives you a 4-4-2. Not the best with Tsimikas and Gabriel starting, but I wouldn't burn the FH to run from that... Maybe 3-4-2 if Pau misses out, so I'll consider taking a hit for cheapie to Palmer

Martinez has the fixtures, but that's a double-edged sword: he doesn't get save points often because Villa tend to dominate those games now, then one goal goes in and things look dicey for his points

Leno's at the summit for the same reasons he was so close last season: saves galore, then the random CS boost

          TLDR: Leno

    Early thoughts

    Team is

    Dubravka (Areola)
    Porro Lascelles Tsmikas (Gabriel Maguire)
    Salah Son Saka Palmer Gordon
    Darwin Watkins (Archer)

    Thinking:

    A. Roll
    B. Maguire to Pau/Konsa and bench Tsmikas
    C. Darwin to Solanke
    D. Gordon to Richarlison
    E. Archer to Solanke, play Gordon and Darwin 1st sub.

All options leave enough cash for Darwin/Solanke to Haaland in one move if fit for 19, except option E.

    Thoughts?

Gordon out to Richarlison not worth a hit is it? Like Gordon longer term anyway but how bad did the injury look?

Didn’t look bad at all, Howe said he wanted to carry on so yea, he might not even miss 1 game, wouldn’t do that for a hit

If Darwin is didn't start tonigh, then most probably he will start vs Arsenal

I'd give Isak the Luton game, since Wilson started last night

Darwin to Solanke or Jesus for me here

Do you have funds to go directly from Isak to Haaland?

Wilson started because Isak wasn't fit.

Ah yes... Checked for a quote:

Howe admitted the absence of Isak (vs Fulham) was more of a precautionary measure. 'Alex has a problem with his groin; he had a scan last week, but it is not a big problem. It is minor, probably more fatigue than anything. It is enough for us to need to monitor him and be careful with him.'

          https://twitter.com/BenDinnery/status/1736696807579582942

A bit murky from Howe, as usual. But I'd sell based on this if I had him, yeah

Yeah, same quote. Both before yesterday's game, where he then missed out as you rightly pointed out

Bailey or Gross to replace Gordon?

Already got 3 spurs and used FT on Watkins in for Darwin.

    1. Ze_Austin

Think of how many times you'd have replaced Gordon recently, if going by Howe's flags and press conferences

At least we saw what happened this time, and it looks minor enough to hold for the Luton game imo

Bailey barely makes 60 minutes and Gross/Brighton is unpredictable... Plus I guess you've got Haaland, Salah and Son to worry about with FTs

      I think it's a wait and see

I will be shifting Mbeumo after the deadline tomorrow. Who should I bring in?

    a) Bowen

    b) Kulusevski

    c) Kudus

    d) Richarlison

    e) Other

Current midfield - Odegaard Son Palmer Gordon

Kudus only has 3 GWs left before AFCON. Really close between Rich/Kulu for me

    2. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

      Richarlison

Kudus will be a three-GW purchase before he joins Ghana for AFCON, and those aren't three great fixtures anyway for him and Bowen

Richarlison is now Ange's striker and he's finally playing well, so I'd put him ahead of Kulu as well

yeah I mean it's still weeks away and if it's 21 then Newcastle away is not a good game defensively at least.
