How does 70 points stand as a score with 15 to play. Is that good, fair, average or below par!

I'm on 71 with 15 to play and disappointed. Had 6 who either didn't play or got cameos. Fully expecting more rotation upset though

Lottery to bring in Sturridge imo. Actually any Pool player. I've had Coutinho for two weeks. Played 0 minutes.

Hurts to know that Firmino/Sturridge were apart of my second plan for this DGW
Arsenal need to finish the chances Ozil creates!

Thinking Pelle (Villa away) for a one week punt then wildcard.

There were some chances, but no gimmes. Ozil does not seem at his best, but maybe just needs to get more fully integrated with Welbeck, Iwobi, and even Coquelin, who showed a bit a class a couple of times in the final third--who knew he was more than a def mf executioner?

Arsenal fans must be beyond frustrated this season.

Finally the likes of Chelsea, United and City have fallen away to allow them a path to the title. None of the usual suspects with world class players and great teams hogging the honours.

Arsenal with a settled management, settled style of play, settled squad with only 1-2 new players to bed in this season. And they're still on to come 4th.

the manager and the players do not have the champions's spirit to win and that is reflected in the way they pass the ball around and insisting on not taking any risks . i cant see Arsene Wenger winning the League anytime soon.

Fair enough with Bergkamp and Wrighty, but RVP and Henry really made their names at Arsenal.

Be nice if Wenger tried for a real top tier forward.

I've always seen him as a winger. But yes, they did well to get him even after he was forced out of Barcelona, sure he had other suitors.

Still, a real top level striker would bring them on leaps and bounds. So many chances go begging...

No leaders, no fight, no balls.

And to be honest not enough quality.

Ozil has been better but he's flakey. And Sanchez has been a huge disappointment. Both those players should be grabbing the team by the scruff but they don't have it in them.

    DGW37 Prospects

    Chelsea (sun, liv)
Nothing to play for, and high rotation risk - not the most enticing combination. But the league champions do have some quality players with points to prove so the likes of Costa and Hazard could be profitable punts. My rating: 2/5 - Mavericks only.

    Everton (lei,sun)
Terrible form, and nothing to play for, unlike both opponents These players seem to have packed their suitcases and are already halfway to a sunny Hawaiian beach, dreaming of coconut punch and hula girls. My rating: 1/5 - Avoid.

    Liverpool (WAT, CHE)
Two home games against two sets of sunbathers. Liverpool seem to be in good form and still appear to be motivated to get results (Klopp). The problem? Rotation. Let's not mention Danny Ward 🙁 My rating: 3/5 - Do you feel lucky, punk?

    United (nor, whm)
Likely to be still fighting for a top 4 spot and face two poor defences. There should be a few players we can be certain of starts by this time (Smalling, DDG, Rooney etc?) It will be interesting to see if Rashford, Martial, and Rooney will start together over the next couple of games. One to monitor. My rating 4/5 - Unappealing, but a source of starters and strong motives.

    Norwich (MUN, WAT)
Appalling attack, appalling defence. But at least they have something to fight for, right? My rating: 2/5 - Potential DGW hero hidden here

    Sunderland (CHE, EVE)
Two home games against poorly motivated teams with leaky defences, in great form, with high motivation. This could well be the team to back. Targets: Defoe: 3g, 1a in last 6. PvA: 5 goals and 3 assists this season and Sunderland have kept 2 CSs in their last 3! Borini: Pens, 12pts this week, knee-jerker's darling. My rating: 4.5/5 - Could be a few gems here. Khazri?

    Watford (liv, nor)
AVL and SUN either side of their DGW does heighten their appeal, but this is a team that might as well be bringing buckets and spades out on the pitch. It's been 10 GWs since Ighalo scored a goal... can you believe it!? Deeney has scored 1 in the last 8... which is better I guess. With 1 clean sheet in the last 6 even their defence has lost its shine. My rating: 2/5 - Ben Watson? 😉

    West Ham (SWA, MUN)
Terrific team in great form and two home games. What's not to love about this attacking team? Payet, Carroll, Antonio, Cresswell, Lanzini... just fill your pockets and run. My rating 5/5 - Triple up.

    .
Just my crappy opinion. Which teams/players do you have your eye on?

I really wanted to get Klose for DGW37 but now he's out for the season I think I'll avoid Norwich all together.

Up front I'm going for Aguero + 2 of Ighalo, Deeney and Defoe.

    16. Ruth_NZ
      • 9 Years

I disagree with most of that. 🙂

Everton shouldn't be dismissed as 1/5 when you consider their fixtures GW36-38 (which you need to do). Lukaku is a must in my view and Funes Mori is a proper contender too.

Liverpool can't be 3/5 when rotation risk is so severe. At the moment they are best avoided entirely. People are still misguidedly looking at their fixtures whilst ignoring the fact that whoever they pick is highly unlikely to play all of them.

United are overrated at 4/5, they are a team in disarray who won't make the top 4 and are focused on the FA Cup. Martial would be good if playing as a striker but he isn't. Smalling is the only certain starter in defence and is over-priced at 6.5m. Rashford could be dropped any time, this is LVG we are talking about. 2/5 at best.

Norwich are better than you say, their recent defensive performances were OK until they panicked against Sunderland. I think Redmond is well worth having at 5.0 but Brady at 5.4 is also a valid choice if you want someone safer. Also good for a cheap DGW defender (Olsson maybe), their fixtures are quite good.

Sunderland look a decent bet but you have the wrong players I think. Khazri is set pieces but little else. Defoe is a worthwhile selection but with Watford's fixtures I marginally prefer Deeney at the same price. Kirchhoff is the one that probably offers most value and potential.

Your categorisation of Watford as "being on the beach" is wrong in my view. They aren't that kind of team. Soon the penny will drop and they will relax on the pitch and start celebrating their extremely successful season. Deeney is notoriously a Spring player. He's almost a cert for me.

West Ham I agree about. But I think 2 would be enough. Probably Cresswell and Payet for me. 😉

Completely agree. Teams that seemingly has nothing to play can still do great when the fixture is with them. Their motivation will be their fans.

      Leaving this out here.

For 37 wildcarders, looking at 36,37 and 38 as a unit, here is my thinking.

Ars - You want an attacker and maybe Bellerin in 36 and 38. Definitely need one attacker for sure.
      Avl - avoid
      bou - avoid
Che - poor fixtures around 37 so maybe just Costa. Or maybe a striker punt in 36 and then Costa in 37. Azpi punt only if you are feeling lucky.
      Palace - avoid
Everton - great fixtures around 37. Monitor their form because their fixtures are great. Robles looks an ideal second keeper.
Lei - avoid (they are doing one nils and play mun EVE che)
Pool - decent fixtures. But rotation imminent. Clueless. Not more than a punt though in my opinion. Studge if Origi is injured.
City - Aguero/Kdb or nothing. Its a risk going without. Monitor. (sot ARS swa)
United - LEI nor whm BOU (tough fixtures even for the defence. Don't go overboard. Even double defence doesn't have value with those fixtures. Maybe just one defender and Martial/Rashford)
      New - Avoid
Nor - poor fixtures. One midfield punt maybe and an enabling defender.
Sot - avoid (punt in 35)
      Stoke - avoid
Sun - decent fixtures around 37. Playing for everything. An attacking punt definitely with a Kirchoff/PVA
      Swans - avoid
Tot - you want Kane in 38 so keep space for him or keep him. Id rather Kane/Alli over Vahrez. Decent fixtures.
Wat - great fixtures around 37. I'd go Ighalo/deeney punt for sure. with an enabling defender.
      Brom - avoid
Wham - great fixtures around 37. Payet, cresswell + 1

      I'm thinking something like this:

      DDG (Mannone)

      Cresswell Smalling Simpson Morgan Gabriel

      Lanzini Payet Sanchez Debryne Mahrez

      Kane Defoe Aguero

Depending on performances over the next few weeks I might get Rashford in as well.

Biggest problem is that if I did these transfers now it would be -20 need lots of transfers to get there..

Who's more likely to start both games? Everton and Newcastle.

    Firmino or Coutinho

      Neither

Maybe Firmino just on the grounds that he may not make the starting 11 in the EL.

There's a good 5 days before the EL tho

          Can't see it mattering.

Makes sense to play your first 11 in the derby and then give them a rest so they have a full week before the EL.

Especially when your second string is doing well for you.

Totally agree. Will be a similar team to today's match, rotation galore.

Champions league qualification through the Europa league takes priority over everything else.

Firmino doesnt seem to need as much rest, even before this injury he played all the games easily

I can't believe the gameweek is only half over. Is this the biggest DGW we've had? Feels like the Boxing Day rush all over.

Not even done the first 10 fixtures yet!

I think because we've talked it up endlessly before it even started makes it seem longer.

What a JOKE of a week!

On 53 with Kane to play, he may save me a bit...

No Migs, Sahko, Gabriel, Cout, Lingard OR Darmian - will any of them play the next?

Plus the Arsenal draw ruined my multis. Buh.....................

Does anyone have an average number of players left to play this week for top 10k or something like that

I wonder if this small Origi injury may just win Studge a bit more gametime against Everton

      Firmino oop por favor.

Maybe but he just played today as well. Klopp would surely favour playing an actual forward if availabe

Yep, unless he wants to protect Sturridge for EL.

Or figures Origi will be back by then so make sure he is fit and sacrifice Studge by paying him.

Impossible to know with Klopp atm. He´s protecting Coutinho - that´s for sure.

Sold Ozil for him on the WC, not exactly worked out. 0 points in two games for Cout.

So better not dropping Yaya for Firmino?
Think I'll bring in Pelle Or Save FT then.

What say you on these moves?

Martial, Mitro, Clichy > Kane, Defoe, Kaboul -8

No way Kaboul is worth a hit IMHO. A complete bombscare who could easily see a red card at any time.

Good moves you'd think with Sunderland set to perform the annual escape.
