The Weekend Team News

Theo Walcott will undergo a late fitness test as Arsenal make their way to Sunderland tomorrow lunchtime. Scott Dann is back in contention as Palace entertain Liverpool, whilst Junior Stanislas remains a doubt as Bournemouth travel to ‘Boro.

Theo Walcott is set to be assessed later today with a “very minor” hamstring problem, according to Arsene Wenger. Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal also require late tests, though Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud are back in contention. Lucas Perez is out for six-to-eight weeks with an ankle injury.

Andrew Surman has recovered from illness ahead of Bournemouth’s clash with Middlesbrough. Eddie Howe has admitted he will make “a late call” over the availability of Junior Stanislas, who missed out last week with a calf complaint.

Hull’s Adama Diomande has been charged with violent conduct, following an incident in their midweek cup win over Bristol City. The club have until this evening to reply, with the Norwegian facing three matches on the sidelines if found guilty. Mike Phelan is already without the services of Robert Snodgrass, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury.

Slaven Bilic revealed West Ham “have a few knocks” ahead of their trip to Everton but went on to say “all those who played (in midweek) should all be fit and available for Sunday”. The Hammers boss also confirmed that Andre Ayew is “very close” being able to start after returning from injury in the 2-1 cup win over Chelsea.

Andre Gray is available for Burnley’s trip to Man United after serving a four-match ban. Stephen Ward has recovered from a knock and Sean Dyche is optimstic on George Boyd’s fitness, though Steven Defour remains “touch and go” with a hamstring problem.

Jason Puncheon remains a “slight doubt” for Palace’s clash with Liverpool, though Alan Pardew has confirmed that Scott Dann is now available for selection.

Daryl Janmaat returns to the Watford squad for tomorrow’s visit of Hull. Isaac Success is expected to be ruled out until after the international break, whilst Craig Cathcart, Kenedy and Stefano Okaka all remain sidelined.

Ben Chilwell joins Nampalys Mendy on the injured list for Leicester’s trip to White Hart Lane. Matty James is still unavailable as he builds up his match fitness.

Geoff Cameron is a doubt for Stoke’s clash with Swansea on Monday evening due to a knee problem. Phil Bardsley is likely to miss out – he’s been granted compassionate leave following the death of his grandfather.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Walcott Stirling Firmino Snodd Allen
    Lukaku Aguero Costa

    1 FT...

    A) Snodd & Walcott > Coutinho/Mane + up to 5.4 (or fodder) for a -4
    B) Hold & hope Walcott plays & 2 FT next week
    C) ???

Too much of a risk not doing anything. Wally to cout seems good. Double pool the way to go.

0.4 before any transfers, probably playing Allen anyway. Doesn't seem right to do a -4 for a bench fodder as 1 of the FT but if it means Mane or Coutinho then so be it I guess?

Would you go Mane or Cout?

I don't know why, you don't have Coutinho yet lol but I will hold and hope he plays if he doesn't
make sure your other mid is nice if you playing 343 but if you playing 352 get rid of THEO and get
Coutinho, for if Theo don't play, you wont get no bench points

Have Walcott in my team and Rashford on the bench.. Can I still save FT or should I swap one of them out?

Depends on the rest of your team really! Do you have bodies in who can play (e.g. someone like Capoue/Allen 5th mid) who can come in and fill the gap reliably?

If yes, save. If not, shift. Easy!

I have Swansea-defender for backup if both Rashford and Walcott don't play..

Hmm probably okay, as long as it's not Amat, who looks to have lost his place - I have him and am annoyed he's fallen off his perch as the 4.0 (I've had him since start of season) who plays 🙁

Really up to you - long term call may be better to roll it now and have 2 FTs next week. Big one will probably be rolling FT over next week because of the international break...

    Pickford
    Clyne Vertonghen Evans
    Antonio Firmino Capoue Coutinho
    Ibrahimovic Lukaku Aguero

    Heaton Snodgrass Collins Amat

    Which option is better?
A Collins > Pieters and bench Evans
    B Antonio > Shaqiri
C Snodgrass > Allen and bench Antonio
D Save and have 2 FT next GW

Liverpool plays Palace who are a very solid team up top.... Liverpool defends don't keep a lot of clean sheets so will say Capoue even tho he is not scoring, He plays HULL which is a team he can assist or score... if they keep clean sheet that's +3 for Capoue, if Liverpool concedes you looking at plus 1 or 2... Now Lovren will be in for headings, so is a big risk but will say Capoue

Keep Benteke for another 2 / 3 weeks and see what happens... his underlying stats are very strong. Furthermore, his team's stats look very promising regarding him, they are playing to his strengths vis a vis quantity of crosses

    A) Start Walcott, Will Keane or Stones first sub

    B) Walcott > Chadli - 4

Other midfielders are Sanchez, Firmino, Payet and Coutinho

Mmmm. A few knocks for Liverpool.

It got a bit missed but Firmino took a heavy whack at the end of the last match. I've checked online and he seems to have been training, so hopefully it's not him.

With Walcott out, does it make Sanchez a stronger captain candidate than before?
I dont know if anyone has looked into stats of Sanchez performance with/without Wally in side but can think Wally no show can help Sanchez pts as Wally is more selfish for goals than other Arsenal players

If you know from history, walcott is bit of a weakling...At best he will strat from bench as next UCL match win almost clinches Arsenal top spot

        • 11 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

Yeah Walcott has been known to be made of glass but the fact is we have no other information other than he's tweaked his hamstring and will have a late fitness test. I don't see how that means he's now out?

Although he's been in decent form I wouldn't say he's (as) essential as Sanchez for instance in crucial games so i think he has a chance of starting tomorrow if he gets the all clear. I just think people are getting ahead of themselves just because its Theo thats all.

Is De Roon the best 4.3 mid or risk on Hojbjerg?

Have Capoue and Snodgrass and 0.1 off Snoddy > Redmond so was thinking could downgrade Snodgrass and upgrade Capoue next week.

Arsene on Theo's fitness - "There is a slight hamstring alert, a very minor one. He will have a test today."

Makes him a doubt, not a cast iron benching. Get a grips folks!

Agreed - He'll either start or he wont make the bench. No point bringing on a winger, who's main asset is pace if you think he's at risk of tearing his hamstring.

Is this worth a -4 hit. I have the exact cash.
Capoue out - De Roon in &
    Walcott out - Cotinho in

    Will give me:
    Foster
    Bellerin, Holebas, Pieters
    Sanchez, Firmino, Coutinho, Allen
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku (c)

    Jaku, Smith, De Roon, Amat.

    Thoughts & thanks.

Yes for Countiho, but not dor De Roon. Your going to take a 4 point hit to put someone on the bench. That doesn't make much sense to me.

    Gomes
    Walker Valencia Bellerin Holebas (Smith)
    Theo Firmino Capoue (Coquelin, Fletcher)
    Lukaku Kun Costa

No FTs, 1.0 in the bank. Depending on news on Theo later after his fitness test, do I:

    a) Start Theo, Smith first sub
    b) Start 5 at the back (Theo first sub)
    c) -4 on Fletcher for Allen/King

Nb. Think I want to keep Theo in the long run. A few dodgy games then a lovely run. Also planning on losing Walker next week to fund upgrading Coquelinto Redmond or another.

      Start Wally

He will either play 60 + or not come on at all. I agree that he is worth keeping. Just be mindful that Holebas and Costa are both on 4 YC and suspension is looming.

I would have Amat as first sub - if he plays, I think he's more likely to get more points than Rodwell. Roswell has an absolute horrendous stat......has not won a game, in 33 matches, when he has started - stems back to his Everton days!

Both have good runs coming up, though Sterling is more prone to rotation die to fixture congestion.

Its not a good move.... but not a bad one either. Might be worth waiting this week as both (Liverpool and Man City) have good fixtures. Next week Arsenal fixtures get tough. If Sanchez blanks again tomorrow or scores low vs Walcott (yep I know injury risk) or Ozil, You could dop Sanchez for Wally/Ozil and upgrade Anthonio (West Ham have an absolute gauntlet of fixtures coming up) to Coutinho.

Your defence is a little light, with Holebas, (on 4 YC btw) and Mustafi the only point scorers there. Might be worth investing there.

Tricky as Amat didn't play last week. Usually I would suggest not taking a hit, but bringing in Lallana for snores would be a good shout for the run they have coming up.
