FANTASY EFL GAMEWEEK 2 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPERS
While Mads Hermansen was popular among the panel, our experts prioritised other West Ham United picks. That led us to Alex McCarthy, who also received plenty of backing.
It wasn’t a convincing opening display from the Foxes in Gameweek 1, but a home match against Burton Albion could provide a good opportunity for a Leicester City clean sheet. Burton were underwhelming from an attacking perspective last season after all.
DEFENDERS
Two of our experts selected Konstantinos Mavropanos as their top defender heading into Gameweek 2. West Ham host Charlton Athletic next, which should provide the Greek international with clean-sheet potential, as well as opportunities to display his attacking threat from set-pieces.
Our panel were split on the second defensive pick. However, two of our experts ranked Adebola Oluwo as their second-favourite option.
Oluwo immediately showed how effective a Fantasy EFL asset he can be in Gameweek 1, scoring and racking up 14 clearances. A home match against Chesterfield gives him multiple routes to points once again.
MIDFIELDERS
Every single one of our experts selected Lewis Wing as their top midfielder for Gameweek 2.
Wing may have managed just six points in a 4-3 defeat to Luton Town last week, but the upcoming clash with AFC Wimbledon provides an excellent opportunity to improve on that return.
His overwhelming popularity among the panel also earns him the captaincy armband.
Another player with set-piece and penalty duties, as well as an excellent fixture, is Oliver Norwood. Like Wing, Norwood ranked among the best Fantasy EFL assets last season. Penalties, set-pieces, creativity and interceptions provide the Stockport County midfielder with several routes to points this week.
There was more debate over our final midfield spot, but a 21-point Gameweek 1 haul was enough to force Ilias Chair into the team. The QPR talisman produced two goals and an assist last time out, and a home match against newly promoted Bolton Wanderers could see him among the returns once again.
FORWARD
Jarrod Bowen came close to taking the captaincy armband from Wing, such was his popularity among the panel.
West Ham arguably got one of their toughest matches of the season out of the way in Gameweek 1. Even then, Bowen still produced an assist and three big chances.
Set-pieces, creativity and the goal threat he has displayed throughout his Premier League career could combine to help him deliver a big return against Charlton this week.
TEAM PICKS
Some of our experts were hesitant about selecting West Ham United, preferring to save their picks for future Double or Triple Gameweeks. However, considering their quality, fixture and home advantage, it’s difficult to ignore their potential for a big return this week.
Most of the panel also backed Leicester City. There may still be question marks surrounding the Foxes after their opening performance, but they should have an excellent opportunity to see off Burton Albion at home, so they also make the cut.
