Amr Zaki is reportedly out of Wigan’s Carling Cup tie with Ipswich this week but more significantly, he’s a doubt for the weekend game with Man City.
The Egyptian striker suffered a calf injury at Spurs on Sunday, reportedly as a result of a heavy challenge from Assou-Ekotto. He was duly replaced on 84 minutes.
“I had some pains in my calf. I wanted to carry on but I couldn’t bear the pains. I eventually asked to be substituted,” Zaki remarked after the game.
I’ve yet to see further confirmation of this so I would certainly hold fire on any changes to your squads as a result of this news. It’s a big blow for Bruce and for thousands of fantasy managers going into the weekend though. We can only hope it’s a minor problem for the 4 goal striker.
