While Danny Welbeck’s winner for Sunderland attracted keen interest from Fantasy investors, another player in the mid-price bracket quietly went about his business and hovered up another 3 Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points as a result.

Morten Gamst-Pedersen failed to register a goal or assist in the 1-1 draw with West Ham but, on investigation of the OPTA stats available to our Members, we can not only see evidence of perhaps his best performance of the season, we can also detect a transformation in Blackburn’s play that could promote the Norwegian in our thinking for weeks to come…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Funnily enough i'd consider winning the Champions League, the premier league, the FA cup and countless other medals a good judge of footballing abilty. But then, he is english after all right?

To win a lifetime achievement award at 35, yes 35! you have to be pretty damn special and have done something pretty damn extraordinary.

If they want to give it to him for representing england aborad and being a media boy then i can understand.
But to give it based on just footabll over all the players who have a greater impact than him is beyond a joke.

There is no way you can justify him winning it now at 35 after his substandard performances in the major tournaments, him being pushed out the door by fergie, then being benched during his overall unsuccessful times in Real and then spending the past 3 years in America.

If they gave it to him for representing the country then fine but on football ability and impact it cant be justified at 35!

In a small? Explain? Do you pay a licence fee? That's the only way the BBC is funded. I'm sure RTE will award Robbie Keane a lifetime achievement though, for services to celtic on loan. Don't worry.

Yes I pay for BBC as part of my channels package with NTL.

On Beckham. He wasnt even the best English player of his generation on ability impact or anything football related.

The only thing he has done better than anybody is to build his profile and sell products.
Thats the only thing we can say without refute he is the best at. Which sums up what he is about.

Then when you compare him to what other British sports people have done in their sports its get even more ludicros.

Then theres the age and then there the fact he was booted out of United and other English players went on to win more and play better for longer (Scholes).

And then theres the fact he never won anything with England ever.

Yes he done well with United but so did many others both british and from other nations and so do numerous other sports people

There's so many things wrong here, yet again, I can't even be bothered. You're still a cretin as the reasons he won are spelt out for you yet you still blather on about media image like some jaded PR hack. The only shred of sympathy i have for your crap talk is the fact Beckham is still too young for a lifetime achievement imo. Other than that, you have nothing to whine about. If only there were more DBeckhams in the world rather than DBRonaldos.

I'm not accusing him of being one. Even Chill Pill said Beckham was world class. He was pretty good in his prime, great ability to spot a pass and fantastic striking a dead ball. TBH though giving a 30 odd year old a lifetime achievment award is a little premature.

I agree, lifetime achievement is a bizarre thing to award Beckham, in 10 years maybe, but certainly not now. What i find entertaining is DBs reasoning, the bigotry is all about his media image and the fact he wasn't born in Ireland. Let's not forget that media image has done a massive amount of good in the world too, aswell as selling after shave/pizzas/shirts/cars/etc etc etc.

You know what its not as simple as that.

My real massive issue with Beckham is that he courts the limelight for his gestures.

Giggs and Bellamy have opened numerous schools in Africa and kept it secret. Thats the sign of true humanitarians. I think its all part of the brand idea. Positive effect etc.

I wouldnt put it past him or Clifford to have planned the dedication to the troops.

I love to know what "massive good" his image has done so much more than others. His image is mainly based around selling merchandise. Lets not forget he went to America "for the good of football" again another "look at me for doing something" when reality he got a huge contract , the league hasnt improved and when he had free time to actually build up the league he left and went to milan.

He feeds the media and they love him. But there are 10's of other stars out there who do the same and never say a word.
I think he is a nice guy but i dislike his methods and his motivations.

He was world class for about 4 years. Along with another 10 united players in that period.

Suffice to say I think the "lifetime" achievement award at the age of 35 is beyond a joke.

There are people over here who are so in love with everything Roy keane does and has done in his career they could make you think he was pele.

And yet if Roy Keane won a lifetime achievement award in Ireland in his 30's, yes small tiny ireland compared to england, with far less stars, personalities etc the award would still be laughed out the gate and there would be up roar.
And yes Keane too has done huge amounts for charity.
                  On Beckham
He was brilliant for us between 1997 -2001. I think the award was in someway trying to compensate for a lack of a proper national fair well to Beckham in the national team

Playing against someone who has Rooney, and I have a feeling with Berbatov back in the lineup, both are going to run riot.

    Considering that which seems better...

    1) Jagielka and Tevez off ----> Nelsen and Rooney

or forget Fantasy Cup and go with original plan
    2) Jagielka and Lee off ----> Rafael and Y Toure

Got 2 transfers this week btw

I would go with Kolarov on bench, getting a bit tired of him. But im hoping the liverpool game is off, so that I don't regret benching Kolarov

      For this week : Rafael>Coleman>Kyrgiakos>Kolarov

N'Zogbia Bent Dunn, pick one to bench. Other midfielder/attackers are below if none of them.

    Nani Nasri VDV
    Drogba Carroll

The bottom 5 my H2H opponent has, so am looking to keep them in my team and playing, my defence should do the business Vs his crappy defence, so this is key really, his three differentials are Lee Drogba and Cahill.

Just put £100 at 13.5/1, odds look great (way higher than Eng, similar to Italy)

What's the consensus on Elmander > ?? after this GW. Since I brought him in, he's been about as effective as Jimmy Anderson as nightwatchman. For similar mid-tier price bracket - Gyan, Bent, Welbeck, Berbs?

Current team below - have one free transfer with 1.0m to play with:

    Robinson (Foster)
    Baines, Vidic, Kolarov (Kyrgiakos, Foley)
    Nasri, Nani, VDV, NZog (Ferguson)
    Drogba, Carroll, Elmander

Who was it said earlier that the SSN girls looked and dressed slutty? Wish I could remember, so wrong. Fit? yes, Slutty? NO!
Rachel could not look more demure tonight but is still the hottest SSN girl for me!
For the record, I don't think any of them look slutty.

Is it a mistake to drop Nasri for N'Zogbia? :/
