The Saturday Surgery has closed. Pre-season is over. The sea of “Rate-my-teams” will begin to subside. The deadline for team selection has slammed shut and then some.

At least for now, what’s done is done. It’s time for the football to begin and for some new Fantasy Football champions to be crowned as we open the Dugout Discussion…

Fulham and Aston Villa have new managers looking to start their season off in style, QPR and Norwich both return to the Premier League with ties at home to Bolton and away at Wigan respectively.

Liverpool and Arsenal are seen as big rivals for fourth place as they open against sides from the North-East. Blackburn also host Wolves.

As you can see, plenty of action going on as the season kicks off. Will your gambles pay off? Have you made the right captaincy choice? Will all that effort require a sudden wildcard? Were you even able to get through the sky-high walls around the Fantasy Premier League castle this last 24 hours? The Dugout Discussion will be open through it all as we welcome “soccer” back with a warm embrace. It’s been a long three months.

Here’s hoping Gameweek one starts with a bang deserving of the last day’s frustration. I’m sure we’ll all have a new bandwagon to jump on by the time evening is upon us – Mauro Forimica anyone?

      yes. only for him to score 3 goals in his next 2 games... im keeping him as i put him in my team for those 2 gameweeks specifically. predicted a 0-0 draw today so didnt care, any points he got were a bonus.

    I've been out all afternoon, been trying to check my points and my rivals points but nothing. Got home and still can't see anything?

    This better be a temporatry glitch, that is one of the best things about the FPL, the rivalry with mates and the banter when checking each others points. If they remove that then they remove one of the main reasons to play.

    And thats not to mention the farce of not being able to log in.

    Can anyone fill me in what is going on?

        I am still logged in and when you go to transfers, you can select 'transfers in'/'transfers out'. Suarez is the most popular player being transferred in atm.

    I know Carroll to Suarez is going to be a very popular transfer this week but i have a feeling it could be a wasted one. Ok so Carroll didn't perform today but away to Arsenal next week i'm sure Dalglish will look to utilise his strengths and he's the kind of forward the Arsenal back 4 won't want to come up against and he could be dominant at set pieces. He fared very well last year at The Emirates with Newcastle. Reckon i may give him another chance and look to transfer next week. Instead may look to get some Chelsea coverage in or get Baines back in (hopefully we'll know more about the re-arranged fixture by then.)
