The Saturday Surgery has closed. Pre-season is over. The sea of “Rate-my-teams” will begin to subside. The deadline for team selection has slammed shut and then some.

At least for now, what’s done is done. It’s time for the football to begin and for some new Fantasy Football champions to be crowned as we open the Dugout Discussion…

Fulham and Aston Villa have new managers looking to start their season off in style, QPR and Norwich both return to the Premier League with ties at home to Bolton and away at Wigan respectively.

Liverpool and Arsenal are seen as big rivals for fourth place as they open against sides from the North-East. Blackburn also host Wolves.

As you can see, plenty of action going on as the season kicks off. Will your gambles pay off? Have you made the right captaincy choice? Will all that effort require a sudden wildcard? Were you even able to get through the sky-high walls around the Fantasy Premier League castle this last 24 hours? The Dugout Discussion will be open through it all as we welcome “soccer” back with a warm embrace. It’s been a long three months.

Here’s hoping Gameweek one starts with a bang deserving of the last day’s frustration. I’m sure we’ll all have a new bandwagon to jump on by the time evening is upon us – Mauro Forimica anyone?

    People have said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
    It wasn't broke, they fixed it....managed to break it. I almost dread a new fix, could even get worse with some of the IT monkeys they probably have at FPL towers.

    Damn enrique was probably one of the best players at both ends of the pitch. Pity Flanagan had to have a crap game and adamn showed why you cant rely on him in the center of midfield for the whole 90mins, especailly when the other team starts pressing up. i would have liked to have seen aquillani play.

      Pretty awful, by normal GW standards. But this is an awful GW, so you're doing about average, I'd say.

      pretty much the same as most - its been a low scoring week. you should be targeting 50 points a week at a minimum. consistency is important as is patience and planning around the fixture list. try not to chase last weeks points, but anticipate next weeks

    I think the site failure is going to put a lot of people off playing the game. It can get stressful enough deciding on players but when the site crashes too? That's too far. So far today Carroll hasn't performed, my little punt on clint hill resulted in 4 goals going past him and apparently a red card. If we had the old site this wouldn't matter too much, I'd be a little bit annoyed but could focus on other matches easily. Now its more annoying with the site crashing. As all the others have said, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

      My guess is.. it actually won't. And by next week, all these problems will be forgotten and every one will carry on as normal.

      Or maybe everyone will suffer a mass FPL induced bout of hysteria and civilization as we know it will change irrevocably.

      Personally, I'm leaning towards A.

        I dont know site crashes like this make people wonder if its worth the hassle. If they're new people who dont know how good the game is and their first week they experience this it'll turn some of them off it.

      No its not life or death but what people (myself anyways) have an issue with is how it could handle the load very well last year. They've made it more sleek looking but haven't tested its functionality and the whole thing is a mess right now.

    If people are saying Moses would've got BP with the previous system but not with this system then I really will reach the end of my tether.
