Tough question, haven't read why he left at 45 min, if this happens once more with Ranger and Best- definite drop. Did you see that two or three ffs writers here picked him as a top choice. Give it at least another game week. He did so well last year. Scores in bunches.

Just checking the Opta's in the member's area, and Young essentially outplayed Nani statistically (and visually, to me).

And those aren't 'blocks' as much as opposition players kicking Nani with the ball. He's a tw*t, you know 😉

In fairness and with my red glasses on, that particular team (like many this week, no doubt) was a bit patchwork. At moments they were fluid and at others almost bumbling.

They'll get it sorted. For me, as a Nani (c), Young made a compelling FPL point.

To be fair, they were whipped in at such a pace they arent aimed for anyone in particular, just an area and one touch sends it in however the likelihood of getting that touch is slim.

I bet the average score before BP right now is 20-21.

Average ten players have played per team, look at the choices of some of the players- fabregas, nasri, coleman, tevez, zero points drogba/(berbs?) get a single point.
That said, I'd like to see the average- normally cheers one up a bit.

Is planning my transfers 4 weeks ahead to prevent myself from kneejerking a bad idea??

    is kneejerking sometimes good?

It's not a good strategy from my experience. I never plan more than 2 weeks in advance, and usually, I end up scrapping those two week plans anyway.

Just go with it, but be sure to think every move through. You can't undo a bad transfer!

Ben Arfa - Walcott - Taarbart - Sinclair - Moses
    Bent - Rods - Gyan

    wildcard to:
    Given - Ruddy
    Enrique - A Cole - Lescott - W Brown - Collins/Warnock
    Downing - Yaya - Moses - Malouda - (6.5 Mid)
    Suarez - Rods - Gyan

No shit. Everyone's starting somewhat slow though. The best place to invest this week is defense lol so the newbies have their day in the sun with their Huths, Cahills and Hangelands.

I'm not too worried. I don't feel like a wildcard is needed, and my team is looking much better for this week than last.

It's always interesting to see how people react after GW1. My week was below average: 32pts with Kompany still to play, after getting bit by Gabbidon's OG.

I think I will probably stick with my team for one more week so that I get the free xfer.

    Given (Ruddy)
    Cole, Kompany, Gabbidon (Brown, Simpson)
Nani (c), Malouda, NZogs, Dyer, Moses
    Rooney, Carroll, Holt.

Have to admit I am feeling a little worried by not having Suarez, but I feel like I'm still set up ok for next week.

    Thoughts?

Thanks Camzy, I really respect your opinion. It was just a toss-up between RVP and Roon, but the late injury test for RVP pushed me towards Roon.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly Arsenal settle. A big game like Liverpool might bring out the best in them. I'm hoping for the same from Nani/Rooney.

With Given/Ruddy, Brown, Cole, Dyer, Nani, Malouda, Holt, and Rooney all at home, I think it's worth sticking tight to see how things shape up.

i would be happy enough with this team to go into GW2. after which you can probably get rid of Nani, since you already have rooney. for Silva or whoever that performs.

i prefer Young over Nani as manutd's midfielder though. i think Young will be more nailed on.

Seems to be lost of pain GW1, going by people's posts, thought I had was in the shiz with 39 points so far and silva (c) still to play.
GW1 lessons - Rooney over RVP (I did)
    - Bosingwa over ivanovic at RB (I did,got the mickey taken out of me for saying it was %100, but hate to say I told that person so!)
    - Villa + Mcliesh = defence. (had given and warnock)

A couple of potentially dangerous assumptions to make.

1 - One week doth not a season maketh. Rooney out-performed this week but to write off RVP already is pure madness. Additionally when Hernandez comes back in a few weeks, Rooney's potential will probably fall.

2- Ivanovic had a knock. Boswinga did well but to proclaim he controls the RB spot after being the most senior fit player there this week is a tad premature.

Villa defence does sound good, I will try to invest in that in the near future if possible, more pressing concerns currently.

I hear you, but I feel the Rooney's returns will be greater in the united team than RVP's in Arsenal - man for man it's RVP every day of the week, but I feel the goons will struggle this term.
Boss over Ivan, I base it on the portuguese connection - dangerous - yes, correct GW1 - yes. GW2? worst comes to worst over a few GW's I have my wildcard. BUt I don't know, I think boss will get the spot if fit.

Out of favour knee jerk - sell nzog. CURSES!

If Wenger brings in a couple of new players and they settle RVP should be back to his devestating best within a few weeks.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Bos was the main man, but I think there's a very real possibility he will lose his spot. I don't know if you have Bos already or not, but I wouldn't go out of your way to get him yet.

Some of these Knee-jerks are ridiculous though. N'Zog has not become a bad player overnight. Nani is not suddenly a terrible player, Carroll is not suddenly a terrible option etc.

I think people need to take a step back and keep faith. If you go out and Wildcard now and bring in all the players who did well this week, next week all your initial selections will go and score. You need a good few weeks to evaluate everything.

I'd go as far to suggest that unless you have a player who isn't starting, you should save your transfer this week for next week when we will all have a clearer picture.

Fair enough in regards to Boswinga, well picked there. Fingers crossed for you he nails the spot down.

I wasn't accusing you of being a knee-jerker for the record, I was just saying that some people who are knee-jerking are being a bit short sighted.

I think we've gotta wait a few weeks before we can really judge the RVP/Rooney debate though.

I reckon that the guys agt FPL towers have seen that both players are due for ridiculous levels of investment as the knee-jerkers go mad, and have decided to prevent large price rises at GW1.

There's a good reason for both.

Suarez just had his yellow flag removed, and that entitles him to 3 days protection I believe.

Young just moved to United. New squad additions have a one week period where they're protected.

The problem with price rises is they're still very unpredictable. The other problem, is that since the site has revamped, noone knows how FPL are going to do it.

Read this if you want to know how the whole system works (well, as best as the general public can know).

Greetings.... How is everyone? Seems to be a lot of people not happy with GW1 scores?

Well if it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. I would suggest that a majority of people had a bad GW1. Anything aroundthe 30 - 40 point mark will be OK I'd suggest. Just don't knee jerk and use your wildcard (I did last season and regreted it).

I must laugh at the people who played Ruddy or any other 4 mil goalie ahead of Given. They guy is class and will at least get you save points evn if the clean sheet doesn't come.

Agree with Camzy's earlier post that 2 free transfers GW3 could be vital so I am sticking fat with my team. Even Alcaraz who didn't play a minute (kinda luck as Simpson will come off the bench).

What are people thinking in regards to Malouda? Surely he will start again next week? Who would take his starting spot and why?

    Cheers guys

I would rather have saved a trasnfer, but I wanted to get Titus striaght out for Brown. I'm a big fan of Sunderland defence and just wanted to get a full squad straight off. Furthermore I'd rather play the Sun defender than QPR or Newcastle this week.

Completely agree about the knee-jerkers. It's mad to think that suddenly all our wise picks have become terrible on the evidence of one set of games. It's been a strange opening weekend, so to suddenly judge the basis of your squad on this week seems silly. Cahill is the most transferred in defender FFS...

A bit of surprise to me that Bramble didn't get a game, a need is a need.

Yeah Cahill scored a goal and kept a clean sheet means the majority will be all over it, a good transfer if you are chasing early season proce rises I guess? Still prefer others at 5.5 mil or less tbh.

28 points with Silva and Kompany left.... captain nani sucked, especially when he missed that sitter 🙁 crappy week in general but at least all the players i picked played and done well enough after seeing all the matches... apart from gabbidon of course

Malouda should start but his minutes may be hindered... Torres played well but surprised drogba didn't get more minutes

Not knocking Ruddy, just people who played him ahead of Given.

There were some really bad performances from captain choices so far this week (cue Silva 2 assists and 3 BP's). Point is everyone is in the same boat, no need to hit the panic button.

Really need Malouda to do well as my two rivals (whom I have bets for $100 each) don't have him. Ah FPL is back, got to love it!

I think Malouda will start again. No reason to think he won't. Chelsea weren't very good on the whole, but they're still trying out their new 4-3-3 system, and Malouda is still the best option for the left sided role in the forward 3.

There look a few potential bargains around such as Senderos , however its too early to tell if most of them are jusr playersbeing rewarded for a good pre season , before being reegated back to the bench.

Im happy to make no transfers , and if need to will make up to 3
transfers next week for a 4 point hit. By then many will be using wildcard so will be good advantage to be able to keep it

Best time to use the WildCard: After GW3 during the international break. (my most important learning from last year). You will get advantage of price hikes and can set the team for next 10 gameweeks. Also transfer out all the injuries that happen in international.

Best reason: For 15 days, when it gets boring, you will love to use the wildcard and keep changing team.

I used to think that, but on super long breaks, you don't really get any more price rises than usual. I remember we had a long international break and I wildcarded hoping for more price rises but I didn't get any who went up 0.2 for free profit.

If everyone start thinking like me, there would be more WC after GW3, and hence upward pressure on more hikes.

Other way to think is , by 3rd GW, we will be able to identify strategy of most teams and the players that have regular spot, and the gems. Wasn't it gw3 when we identifies Carroll as a gem last year.

I made my team purely for the first 3 weeks, getting in more coverage from Villa, City, QPR, Chelsea as they have nice fixtures

GW 3 could be a good time to WC considering the fact fixtures change for quite a few clubs. Arsenal and Man City start a really great run, Liverpool's tails off etc. It certainly looks like a decent time to do it, but considering the season's 38 weeks long and there are bound to be loads of doubles. I think it may be best to hold on to this one. Save a transfer this week or next week so you have 2 frees to prep the team for GW 4. Take a 4 point hit if you must.

Previous poster correct , last season the break after gameweek three or whenever it was was a cracker.
Every years different though. Last season there were many players just begging to be picked , this time round
        it hasnt happened yet.
Might be first double gameweek that sparks all the wildcards. On tht subject when are we likely to hear regarding the everton game?

I agree that using my WC last year during the international break sure helped kill time while waiting but I dont think I'll be doing that this year. I really regretted not having it when all the double headers started showing up and I had to take some 4pt/8pt hits to get in on the action. Basically, if you dont need to then don't IMO.

Thanks TM. 🙂 Sorry for confusion, I have to say it seems a bit crap to have to go to another site to get what is fairly essential info. I have kept away from the bulk of criticism till now,but they really haven't thought all this through very well at all imo.

I must be cracking up, I can't even find a stats page on FPL. Where have they hidden it?

I thought that was only me, no stats on the FPL page this year?

The more I look the less I like what they've done to it. I really don't want it to be necessary to open other sites for what is part of their game rules.

They've basically eliminated the Stats page, which seems a basic set of information to provide (like they've always had before)

Thanks Dadoune, I can see there's lots, but not price increase/decrease.

The number of goals/match last year was a record high. And that bought the focus on Forwards and Midfielders.

the start of this season has not lived up to that. May be defenders will attract more attention this time
