In a new series of Members articles, we look to examine the progress of proven Fantasy talent, mining the Opta statistics and our own ICT Index to assess their progress so far and the likelihood of Fantasy profits in the future. The first player to fit the profile and come under scrutiny is Wolves’ Jamie O’Hara.

The former Spurs man has tested the patience of his Fantasy owners to the full so far this campaign- time after time he seems on the cusp of pulling out a substantial points haul, only to walk away with a blank. A miserly total of 14 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points would suggest O’Hara is going missing in games for Wolves in the opening two months of the new campaign but closer analysis of his stats shows this is far from the case.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Got 2 freebies this week.
    Decided upon Sessegnon > Ramsey
2nd will be Dzeko > Sturridge OR Adebayor

    Alternatively, I could keep Dzeko.
Who'd you rather have, irrespective of price long-term?

    Dzeko, Adebayor or Sturridge

    Cheers.

Keeping Dzeko would be a good risk. Have a strong feeling he will start and score some goals, could be handy with everyone selling him. The safest bet however would be to get Adebayor in, he will be a certainty all season baring injury. Sturridge is at risk of rotation but will probably start for the next few gameweeks

Thanks Ryan, valid points there. Getting Adebayor would allow me to have a nice attacking spread from the 'big' teams to cover any 6-0 thrashings that may take place.
Ramsey (ARS) - Mata (CHE) - Nasri (MCI)
Rooney (MUN) - Suarez (LIV) - Adebayor (TOT)

I think Adebayor is less of a rotation risk long term and more likely to add points regularly if less spectacularly.

Why can't I read the article above? There's a blue box blocking the rest of the text. Is there meant to be some sort of message in the blue box? If not, I can't see it for some reason.

Also, the "Next Six Ticker" only shows Game Week 8. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is it just me?

enrique, jones or kompany? I want to get one of them in for de laet.

if i got enrique in then id have .6 in the bank and could save my other ft (keep swp for the blackburn game) or i could downgrade swp to ramsey (or murphy or walters). however if I got in jones or kompany I would be forced to downgrade swp to either murphy or walters first in order to get the spare .2 or .3 mil I need.

Jones. He'll keep his place for a while yet, maybe all season. He's a good footballer, will get you the odd assist and goal and won't concede much. Can't see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet against Utd so Enrique not good for this week. As a Pool supporter I'm not convinced by him yet and don't think defence is that solid at the moment.Kompany looks nailed on for every City game but rarely gets assists or goals and I reckon City will concede more than United this season.

Starting Woodgate at home is definitely sensible but, in my position, I would like to gamble on S.Taylor to score/assist rather hoping Woodgate to get thru 90mins with CS.

Newcastle will be at home and Fulham usually do well at Stoke.

Note that my thought is highly influenced by the recent form of Fulham.. 😉

Start Woodgate, I think. Stoke are a beast at home. Besides, Fulham's form has been inconsistent this season.

I also think that Villa will be ultra-defensive against Man City, so I'd start Dyer over Agbonlahor.

could do with some advice on what transfers to make if anyone's still up?
    current team:
    GIVEN (KENNY)
(STAYLOR) - (ENRIQUE) - DE LAET - KOMPANY - WARD
    MOSES - ARTETA - SILVA - DYER - (BARKLEY)
    RVP - AGUERO - SUAREZ

thinking of Kenny to Vorm to free up .3
then it's either get rid of BARKLEY and DYER and have 10.4 to spend on replacements ....thinking of Petrov/Tiote/Bannan......or should i downgrade Arteta? Or should i downgrade a striker and get Nani in?
btw - i'm planning RVP to Rooney GW10

Have a look at my team for some ideas.

Vorm goes with Kenny and frees up some cash.

I think we will see that the better teams start keeping more cleanies and the ones at 5-6 will signicantly outscore the cheaper ones. I only like Newcastle/Swansea cheapies, the rest seem pretty useless..

My team mirrors the scoring patterns of FPL:

              - cheap defence = defs score lowest anywayz

              - quality midpark = Mata,Nani and Silva will deliver the big points as mids traditionally do in ff

              - ultra-superstar forward line that picks up the big points.

Gained 100k last week after playing w/c so early evidence is positive 😀

My issue with Mata isnt about ability, its about miniutes on the pitch. If i splash out on a player, I want him on the pitch each game for as long as possible. Many goals are scored in second half of games also.

Well isn't your team just the best 🙄
The fact that Bosingwa, Enrique and Jones were 5.5 or less meant you could have 2-3 of them as they will easily outscore all the 4.0 defenders come seasons end, and then have a good team elsewhere anyway.
The highest scoring teams in my league for the last 2-3 had the likes of those players and very good elsewhere. Rooney/Aguero will not score 3 each week, and when they dont, teams with bad defences will struggle.

No,no, no, no no. Plain wrong.

Man U are hardly the doyen of cleenies so there is no way I'm investing 5.5+ in Jones.

CHS are hardly a cs machine either. Boswinga out.

I have Enrique which somewhat dismantles your theory that my defence is "weak."

Would I rather have Boswinga and Jones instead of Aguero and Nani? Hmmm...now let me see...:?

Vidic back and fixtures clearing up soon, you will see.
How exactly would having Bosingwa (when he was 5.5) or Jones (when he was 5.5) mean you couldnt have Nani and Aguero 😕
With Suarez/Sturridge/Adebayor and others showing plenty of value up front, I dont see the need for such bad defences, Enrique doesnt really change that, going by your lack of cleanie theory, he would be worse than Jones/Bosingwa long-term 😐

"- cheap defence = defs score lowest anywayz"

Value(season) which is Total score/Current price and the more representative stat imo is topped by defenders

At the FPL site there is a stat called Value(season) and measures how many times a player produced his price in score so a player priced 5 with a Total score of 35 has a Value(season) stat of 7. Defenders are topping this stat so saying "defs score lowest anywayz' is wrong

And there is clearly flaws in that idiotic statement.
                    1. It is based on Current price, Jones/Bosingwa are no 5.9 and 6.2 so people who dont have them have missed out on getting them at a value price as they have risen.
                    2. If we were choosing on value, nobody would have Silva, Mata, Nani, VDV, Nasri in the midfield...

How are those ubercheaps working out for you Jaf? Last week in the sub-5m market only Swansea defenders got clean sheets. The week before, only West Brom. In GW5 QPR and Sunderland both came good but have leaked goals since. As the season goes on the expensive defenders will come good- the likes of City and United already are doing, with decent options emerging around the 5m option too (Stoke, Fulham, Enrique).

Cheap defenders are essential to get money to spend elsewhere but I think your "1+4" formulation takes it too far.

All 5 of my "1+4" dee-fence have been put together on the ticker and have given me a majority platform whereby I have mostly 3 of them at home in any given gwk in this first 15 gwks or so.

Cedrtainly no less than 2 play at home in any given gwk.

SWN rotates well with QPR. I drop SWN.

Anyway, out of interest (read boredom) just had a look at your history, and it's not keeping over 2 a week at all! Unless you're counting players on your bench that is.... I counted 10 clean sheets from playing defenders all season, and 4 of those are from your expensive defender!

Therein lies the problem... you play the expensive defenders most if not all weeks, so you get all their points. If Swansea/QPR/Newcastle etc pick up an unexpected 0-0 on the road somewhere and they're on your bench, it's no good.

PS I may be slightly biased in this having benched Simpson for every single one of his clean sheets.

SWN have kept q a few cs. NEW too. Tierney - more thinking here behind this selection - was selected primarily on his opta data for crossing.

I've selected defs that offer a bit more than plain rotation and cs potential.

Well, for what it's worth I'm all over the cheap defenders as well:

                Vorm, Kenny

Jose Enrique, Woodgate, Gabbidon, Tayor ( Swa ), Simpson.

Absolutely nothing wrong with them. The man/woman Katie, who could have won the whole thing if she hadn't destroyed her team at the end of the season, said she hadn't had a defender valued over 4.5 all season. And she was in the top 10 at one point.

I'm not convinced about Vorm/Kenny as a) I can't see very many clean sheets and b) GW11 + 12 you're left with a choice between MCY/liv then stk/MUN. I think Vorm and GIven rotate better.
Arteta for Ramsey sounds like it makes sense although Arteta is on set pieces?

Right, team news is due a full update today. We just got the team news template up and running on Monday without giving it much attention. We have Bendy flagged correctly however.

              I'll update Sunderland now.

Very strong - only real weakness I can see is a lack of Arsenal attacking coverage over their run of three home in four. You're also a bit reliant on form up front - those three are flying but one of Rooney/Aguero/RVP would offer a bit more assurance for me.

2 assists and 1 goal in his last 3 games (in all competitions).

Mata's just not getting the minutes or points to justify the hefty price tag in my opinion.

Sturridge appears to be much better value for Chelsea and seems to be starter under AVB.

          If you say so.

I dont see what he has really done wrong to justify selling him. He got an assist last game, and an assist the game before.

And from what I saw of last game, he is taking more shots each game.

Anyhow, I wont be selling right now since:
          a) more pressing issues 🙂
          b) I only bought him 2 weeks ago, in which time he has returned 2 assists. A bit more time is needed methinks

Most people are in that situation.
I can guarentee any of you people have much more pressing transfers then getting Mata out, the majority would have got him in 2 weeks ago, seen his score, not watched him play or how he got what he got and are selling now... 🙄

Yeah I was gutted when he was subbed on 59 minutes - he was my captain! And had Torres not COMPLETELY lost his mind, I think Mata would have been on for a large haul.

Your right, he hasnt done anything wrong - its just that other players are doing a lot more RIGHT than him and he is falling behind - as am I. He is in my team because i see him as a genuine "4th" striker - so far he is not living up to the expectation I had when I signed him up (the day he appeared on FPL btw - such was the optimism I had) other cheaper and not so cheaper options are outscoring him consistently.

Well its a fair question - I looked at the various "form" indicators for midfielders that appear on the FPL site and Mata rarely makes an appearance in the first 15 - on any of the indicators they are using - I mean thats what they are they for, to determine performance and form and he is not really hitting the numbers - others are!!

I do hear what Blue Zulu below is saying...................... lets put it down to an itchy trigger finger and not having Nani in my squad!!

I feel the fear too...but I think patience is required. His fee does put a bit more pressure on your team but he's been close and when Torres returns we should see more from him...he clearly is improving his relationship there and it could really fire...he also has set pieces so don't forget that...

Yeah, I am. Bit of a punt but he looks to be moving into form and is relatively cheap. The only thing is 3 out of next 4 are away games. But Bale is the type that has the potential to suddenly score 2 or 3 in a game so I I thinking seriously about it. When he does score, he scores big.

With Swansea showing some steel in their defense so far I am considering a move to get someone in. I know Vorm is a favourite around these parts but I don't want to break up my keepers just yet (Given / Begovic). So....try the cheaper N Taylor or jump for Rangel...I see Williams is also in the mix but not sure if he has any other potential other than the clean sheet option.

    Any opinions on this move?

The transfer would most likely be Ward to Taylor leaving me with this defense:

Bosingwa, Warnock, Brown, S Taylor and the Swansea option...

Mind games, Hybrid, is what I would bet he's doing. So don't panic or try to beat his team on a weekly basis, but get your team the best it can be and the results will follow. If he has any interest in football he will be as chuffed as Larry to be top, only if he only joined as work thing and has no interest will he really not have looked,in which case you'll get him in the end anyway.
