We turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics once again in our latest members’ article. Having assessed the form of Forwards over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures late last week, we now turn our attentions to the men in midfield.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Can you explain it to me please? Some things I don't understand are - higher numbers are more negative, why improvement is important if the original base stats were rubbish. I've too many questions but that might start to explain.

Colo, Baines, Fab and PvA on my injury list. Thankfully Bego is ok again 😛

    Should I activate my WC?

I wouldn't. I have Baines, Colo, PVA, De Gea and JWP, and will likely try to ride it out. Baines, Colo and Fab should all hopefully miss no more than a week. PVA is the one that has to go for a guaranteed starter this week.

Anyone going Rangel, after this week.

Decent attacking history with good cs potential.....and crucially not on 4 ycs like Naylor.

Didn't realise Naylor was on 4. I think Naylor's appeal is/was his price, mind you.

They've been in Uefa since '92, mainly due to security reasons. The Australians joined Asia so they wouldn't have to face a play-off with the South American first non-qualifiers (and so they could play in the Asian Champions League).

I love the stats articles but the KPI ones confuse me a bit -- if the focus is on percentage of improvement, what if the player started from a baseline of awful, or historically bad, or Taarabt? They might be mediocre, poor, or Townsend at best now.

Is the takeaway here that they are trending in the right direction so your eyes don't deceive you? I have a hard time tracking the numbers themselves.

    foster krul
clyne chester naylor yun chambers --- def is crap for this gw
siggy adm alexis tadic --- arfield
    costa kun sakho

    A: chester >>> def upto 5m...rose/vlaar
    B: chester + tadic >> azpi + chadli (-4)
    C: clyne >> azpi

Not really how else to improve this team...bring in baines somehow? but that would have to wait next week by upgrading clyne...

C doesnt make sense for this gw as clyne is the only def this gw that might keep a cleanie.

On the other hand saving a FT for this gw also seems daft as my def for this gw is:
clyne (avl) naylor (mci) chester (SPU) chambers (MUN) yun (new)

No, not really..we started talking about Damon Hill who got involved heavily with the Down Syndrome Association after he had a child with Down Syndrome...so it's just asking if the same applies with Gerrard and maybe he was inspired by a family member...not that it matters much because he does fantastic things in that regard whether or not.

I've no children but we've (wife) discussed this and there's no true answer I guess until your in that situation. I've 2 friends/acquaintances in that situation and I reckon we all have an un-forced (!) connection, communication & love in the situation but IF it is your child, that is difficult to answer.

Learning disabilities is the term used to distinguish between learning difficulties..and learning disabilities...The former being a delay, the second being an inability to learn certain functions.

I must admit, I never quite understand these KPI articles...as in, why does it focus on improvement from period A to more recent period B? If they were very poor in A then they can show a big improvement but still be pretty poor.

I like the article as it gives the absolute numbers but I find the table a bit hard to interpret for the reasons you give, a rise from 0.1 shots in the box to 0.2 would look like a 100% improvement but it's still rubbish.

I do get that it's useful to reinforce that S has dropped off, S, H and D stepped up so validates my opinions on how all 4 of those have changed as an option, also reflected in the flow of transfers

    2 FT- Any suggestions?

    Lloris/guzan
    azpil/clyne/baines (dummet/Wisdom)
    downing/dimaria/siggy/fab/sterl
    welbeck/costa (ulluo)

Was thinking Ulloa to Sakho? Or do i look to get Aguero in somehow?

I'd look at downgrading Sterling and Lloris as Guzan is playable all weeks to Xmas.
And then Wellbz to Aguero next GW

Nice. Yeah, if you put the C on Kun, you could get that -4 back this GW too

What would you change in this team ?

    1FT 1.7 in the bank

    Forster
    Baines Clyne Moore
    ADM Hazard Sanchez Downing
    Welbeck Sakho Aguero(c)

Subs - Elliott PvA Marney Wisdom

Looks good. Probably try shift PvA to Duff, Yun, Dummet or Welbz up to Costa with a downgrade of a mid or down to Austin

You need to lose PVA. Naylor or Collins look viable, if you can get over a 1 pointer this week.

I'd look at WHAM and CHE defenders over them first

Def not Moreno! Easy fixtures or not pool can't defend for toffee. Clichy could work out as a shot term punt. Kompany injured for another 10 days or so, so they're by no means assured a CS against Swansea.

Chelsea haven't been that good at the back . isn't someone like Cresswell better ?

No....Chelsea have the best defensive stats in the league,. They've just be conceding the odd daft goal. With their upcoming easy schedule, will def be a few CSs and Azpil loves a bonus point or two.

Some quick advice would be appreciated...

    Foster/gilks
    Colo - clyne - naylor - Hutton - chambers
Di Maria - fabs - siggy - Sanchez - young
    Kun - pelle. - welbeck

1FT, WC intact, but carrying some deadwood, injuries and fixtures are turning for some.

Had a decent few weeks having been patient but wondering if it's time to WC to keep up the momentum?

    Cheers

Do you have enough to hold this week and Pelle --> Austin and Welbz --> Costa next week?
      Don't think it's worth a WC myself.

        0.8 short of that.

Concerned about not having costa for this GW and not having the depth if fabs doesn't make it.

If Fabs is ruled out, Fabs downgrade to afford Costa in for Welbz perhaps

Tempted by fabs to hazard if fabs is out.

    Would like some advice....

    Bego Krul
    Baines Wisdom Manquillo Duff Clyne
    ADM Fab Sigi Downing Sanchez
    Pelle Costa Sakho

    Thinking about doing:

Pelle -> Aguero....then have costa and aguero with topfixtures ahead!

But for that a need do ADM or Fab to a max 5.4 midfielder....

YES or NO?? And who you guys recommend for a 5.4 midfielder??

    CHEERS!

Take an extra hit and do:

      Manquillo > Dummet/Yun
      ADM > Chadli
      Pelle > Aguero

Wouldn't normally recommend extra hits but no value I'm midfielders 5.4 or under and you need Aguero.

Be wary fabregas on 4 yellows so might be worth losing him over ADM. I fancy Fabs to score more over coming weeks though.

Definitely go for it, will be your 5th Mf anyway so you can bench them. Aguero must have

      Lose fab

Sorry can't think who to recommend though

This is a good point. Revised transfer plans:

        This week for -4

        ADM/Fab > Boyd
        Pelle > Aguero

        Next week for free

        Manquillo > Azpil

I'm screwed this week if he's out as already need my bench to cover Baines. Means I'll end up having to play wisdom away at Chelsea.

Baines has a good chance of starting. Was going to get rid of Tadic next week anyway, so might take him out for a hit if he is injured.

I was originally going to lose him this week but made an early transfer already so need him to play. Unless he bags a hat trick he's def fine next week either way. Been a passenger in my team.
