We turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics once again in our latest members’ article. Having assessed the form of Forwards over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures late last week, we now turn our attentions to the men in midfield.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

    united's legendary 4-4-2 had keane and scholes in the middle of the park.

    neither of them was a defensive midfielder.

      I think most would agree there. It becomes more confusing when you have 3 in the middle with either a CAM (4411) or a DM (4141).

    Struggling to manage this team while having a tough semester... Would appreciate some help from the DZers if possible!

    Current team:
    Foster Krul
    Baines Clyne Chester Moore Vlaar
    Tadic Adm Sanchez Siggy Poyet
    Aguero Costa Sakho

    In a situation in which I've have 3 players doubtful which has screwed up my plans.. (Baines Vlaar Tadic) and 2 being rotation risks (Chester Moore)

    Willing take a hit if necessary to take a hit to get out of this mess.. Wc available. Sorry about the format, typed it out on my smartphone.

        I actually just bought Vlaar in the previous week and took Naylor out... Not knowing the fixtures to be able to get sanchez in.. You think doubling up on Newcastle's defense would be good?

        Was thinking of getting rid of Moore to Yun and maybe tadic to downing if he is ruled out and then sell Clyne and Chester to Cresswell and duff/Dummet. How does that sound?

      They are a bit meh tbh. PVA -> Dummett kind of makes sense. The first one seems a bit sideways but is an alright move.

        Newcastle look like they're gaining some pace back up to form after losing their first seven games. Dummett would be a great investment for the next three games with Coloccini and Taylour still out.

          When you have 2FT's and you have nothing urgent its often a good time to make a boring defensive transfer and carry over a FT for next week.

    Am I the only one looking to lose Costa soon? Kun and Sanchez are far better armband options imo and at 11m surely there is better value elsewhere. Can really beef up the rest of the team.

            Mourinho's going all guns blazing in the league this year, not resting anyone even for easier home games, regardless of CL games on the horizons etc. Whilst I agree that Costa will never have the raw footballing talent of Suarez, he's a street-fighter and will score 25+ goals comfortably if he stays fit playing in that lone striker role. Not having him is too big a risk IMO.

          He doesn't need to go near Suarez. This is an all new season. He just needs to be the top or close to the to scoring striker THIS YEAR to hurt you.

      Sorry i do not see how much u can improve your team with the spare cash. Remember we can only field 11 players at a time. If u replace costa with a worse off alternatives u have to gain back in other areas.

      Most can afford siggy + 2 of adm/sanchez/hazard and baines
      Which leave only the 4th mid and 2 defender spots+ gk to be upgraded. With the budget mids like chadli downing available amd still on form i do not see the need much improvement in points if u sell for hazard/fab

      For defenders we can see that many budget defs are getting cs while the big guns are not. Filling your def with coleman ivan instead of the likes of azpi and naylor does not guarantee u points too.

      In short most team looks decent with costa+aguero..see no big need to change

      I did a very similar move. I get austin and terry in this week.
      Yeah i agree with ur opinion about terry, i got that sense too. When i look into his stats, no goal, no assist i believe good things are coming in a very near future.
      My only worry is about his gametime in festive period, but that's why u need the fourth and fifth back as cover, right?

    Anybody actually considering keeping their Saints assets?

    Clyne (avl) naylor (mci) chambers (MuN) Chester (TOT) yun (new)

    - naylor, yun, chambers are for long term unless they loose their places. Agreed? Good value in all 3
    - I can do Clyne to azpi this gw by Clyne is the only Def I have thats got a decent fix
    - could do Clyne to Baines and tadic to downing for a hit?
    - if I leave Clyne there for one more week...that leaves chester, crappy fixtures, poor team form so happy to remove it
    A: chester to rose...can downgrade Clyne next gw to do tadic to sterling/xxX
    B: chester to cheapish def...can't think of anyone with a decent fix this gw and that's decent for rotation purposes till Jan. Vlaar is the only one
    C: chester and tadic >> azpi and chadli (-4)...looks good but a week too early to be getting rid of tadic? Also not a big fan of chadli
    D: save ft and just play clyne / hull /chambers

    I am leaning towards D. It's funny how when you need to make a transfer, can't think of anything good and when u have don't need to make a transfer..u will waste it on a luxury like taarabt; )

    Looked at the fixtures and aguero and Sanchez seem fine to captain... over Costa

      I just don't agree with skimping on forward players. It's the one area of your team where the budget needs to go out of the window as these players tend to be the highest point scorers of your team.

      Possibly. Siggy certainly has season keeper status about him. If WHAM, remaining an attacking force, then Downing could be a long-term prospect as well.

      A lot depends on ADM I feel. A midpark of Sanchec, ADM, CHS mid and Siggy/Downing may be the order of the day at some point.

    Morning early birds, thoughts on this ensemble? Knee jerked Chadli in for Eriksen which I feel quite silly about but should I be looking to take some hits here?:

      No Sanchez is a worry and I think you have too much money tied up in your GKs and defence. I like to have a cheap attacker such as Boyd so I can maximise the funds in my starting 11. You've got good players but the team structure needs work IMO, which is hard to do with few transfers.
