Our weekly analysis of the Captaincy contenders arrives once again this Thursday evening. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

This week’s Captain Poll is a two-way tussle for our attentions between Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero. With 41% of the votes cast so far, the Chelsea striker slightly edges it ahead of a home encounter against West Brom – he’s scored six times in five appearances at the Bridge, failing to net just once, and faces a defence that has conceded twice in all but one of the last five Gameweeks.

Aguero has been selected by 38% as Man City prepare for the visit of Swansea. The Argentine has failed to score in two of five appearances in front of his own fans this term, though with nine goals and 57 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game in the last six, he’s the man in form. The Swans have been decent on their travels at the back, though, earning a clean sheet in two of their last three away matches.

Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez could be real differential armband options for the Gameweek ahead. The Chelsea midfielder is seeking his third straight double-figure haul at the Bridge, whilst six goals in his last four underline Sanchez’s form as United’s patched-up rearguard limp into the Emirates.

The avalanche of votes for Costa and Aguero leaves little interest elsewhere. Cesc Fabregas has mustered 1% of votes – mirrored by Southampton’s Graziano Pelle for Monday evening’s trip to Villa. The Italian has failed to score in his last three now, but with the Midlands outfit sweating on the fitness of a number of defenders, Pelle’s owners will be giving him one last chance before the fixtures turn nasty. There’s no doubt he’s better in front of his own fans, though – the summer signing has mustered just one goal and a single assist on the road compared to five goals and three assists at St Mary’s.

Keep calm and carry on. You need three playing and scoring defenders. Make that happen. Nothing else.

I have the same three injury doubts and am holding all three.

I reckon Coleman will start. Not sure about the other two, but still a decent chance that they will feature.

I have, by default, ignored Liverpool players on my wildcard due to their form. But their next 4 fixtures are a dream! Is there a case for putting Sterling or a Pool defender in my team? An interesting either/or here which I expect I know what the answer will be...

    A. Siggy + Baines
    B. Sterling + Lovren/Cresswell

I'm thinking about Sterling, never trusting their defence though.

He's got 50% goal involvement both with and without Sturridge, expect them to improve their strike rate over the next few.

That said, certainly wouldn't want to lose Siggy or Baines.

At least I am not the only one that does not see it as a straight forward choice . Pens make a difference over the course of a season but one game unlikely and Costa picked up baps when he scored vs Pool . Maybe I am just being stubborn because everyone is writing Costa off ?

No. Fab's consistency will mean he's likely to get something. So Hazard has to get something + 4 + a bit extra to make it worthwhile.

Anyone risking playing Moore over Duff? I think Leicester have a better chance of a CS than Burnley, but a Moore cameo is a worry.

An injured player is worse than a player with a bad fixture.

But in this case, regardless of who I transfer in I'd (looking at Caulker) probably bench them this week. Is it not worth using that transfer for instant impact especially given bad runs of fixtures/form for a few of my current players

    Sanchez, ADM, Siggy, Downing, Boyd
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

Don't think so, the last think I have heard is that he is likely to miss the West Ham game.

right, so panic for nothing? last I heard was Everton saying the injury was a minor grade 1 and that he could make this weekend.

He will be assessed before the game, but it's 50/50 I think.

                From the comments I've seen.

                @physioroom earlier today:
Baines is almost certain to miss out for #EFC "We're checking Leighton on a daily basis - we're not sure if he'll be fit for West Ham"

Can't see why they would risk him if he's not 100% with all the fixtures coming up.

Tempted to bring in Perez (Newcastle) for Naismith. Is this a good idea?

If you have 2FT and nothing to do then yes.

No, Cisse's fit. Started, skippered, and scored last night for Senegal.

If Cisse played last night then that strengthens the case for Perez to start - he is on form. Yes Nuttman88 I do have 2FT though there are quiet a few changes I fancy making but I'm holding these for next week

Another rumour flying around - Song joins Reid, Sakho and Downing on the sidelines and won't make the squad against Everton.

Have 2 FTs, 0.9m in the bank with a team that has served me well over the past 2 GWs with 99 and 74 pts respectively. Feeling compelled to use 1 FT so as not to waste a transfer. Help please?
