Our first members piece of the week delves into the data from Gameweek 17. Everton and Leicester’s frontmen arrive under our analytical eye, as do United and Southampton’s toils up top, whilst we also turn to midfield and set our sights on Chelsea, Stoke and Villa.

8% until GW21 where it's likely to go to 10%.

    GTG?

    Butland
    Ward / Toby / Bellerin
    Mahrez / Ozil / KDB / Alli
    Lukaku / Vardy / Kane

    McCarthy / Wijnaldum / Dawson / Moreno

Thinking of taking Wij out for Ramsey for a hit.

      • 12 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

I wouldn't do it this week if it's for a hit, considering you have already got a strong team AND strong bench without needing to, but next week I say go for it.

Tbh I haven't much clue. I have no idea which Newcastle is going to turn up each week, which is largely why I don't own and haven't owned any of our players this season. Given his form, and easier fixture, I'd say play Alli. Though I would like to be wrong 😛

Looking to replace Richards with a Spurs defender, and I've been playing around with the comparison tool. Truth is that I haven't watched much Spurs this season, or owned any of their players apart from Kane in the past few weeks, and I was looking for some opinions as to the comparative value of a few of their defenders.

In particular: Walker, Dier and Alderweireld.

This is how I currently understand it:

Walker: Higher assist potential, propensity for YCs
Toby: Goal threat from corners, not really a BPS magnet unless he scores
Dier: Small goal threat from open play, not a BPS magnet at all

Considering my defence currently stands at: Kolarov - Bellerin - Moreno - Ward - Richards

...which do you think would be the best addition if I'm looking for depth over the festive period?

I think ordinarily I would pick Toby but is his higher price justified? I don't want to dig too much into the Aguero fund, or unbalance the defence too much. Plus there's a minor differential to be had in going for one of the other two.

    Penny for your thoughts.

Toby probably is the best to go for as most nailed. I got Walker in yesterday but only went for him as he was the cheapest and need the cash to do the two transfers I intend over the next couple of weeks ( Kun and 2nd Arsenal mid)

Current results “prediction” for each match this GW (based on each team’s number of team goals spread market mid-point).

    Stoke 1 Man U 1.25
    Villa 1.2 West Ham 1.15
    Bournemouth 1.4 Palace 1.2
    Chelsea 2 Watford 0.75
    Liverpool 1.75 Leicester 1.25
    Man C 2.8 Sunderland 0.75
    Swansea 1.4 West Brom 0.85
    Spurs 2.2 Norwich 0.85
    Newcastle 1.3 Everton 1.5
    Southampton 1.1 Arsenal 1.5

For example, if Stoke v Man U was played, say, 100 times, the spread-betting website reckons that Stoke would score 100 goals (i.e. a 1 average) and Man U 125 (i.e. a 1.25 average).

Interesting way of looking at it. I'm especially surprised that the odds think Bournemouth would beat Palace more times than the other way around.

Would appreciate some second opinion on what to do.
    Current team:

    Butland
    Smalling, Bellerin, Ward
    Özil, Eriksen, Barkley, Mahrez (C)
    Lukaku(vc), Kane, Vardy

Schmeichel, Hoolahan, Moreno, Galloway 5,2 ITB. 1FT

Sold De Bruyne last week for Mahrez back in, got away with that. No City cover for now.
In midfield its either Eriksen or Barkley out, but not to keen on that with fixtures this GW.

    A) Smalling & Vardy -> Dier & Aguero -(4)
    B) Eriksen-> Silva
    C) Barkley-> Silva
    D) Sort out Galloway for x-mas rotation
    other options?

    1. Geordienufc1
      • 12 Years

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how come this next week isn't a double GW when teams are playing on 26th and 28th-30th?

      2 different GWs.

Because a gameweek doesn't always equal a week. It is a round of matches. Sometimes the schedule gets messed up and a few matches get rearranged in gaps between existing rounds of matches. It is in those weeks you get double gameweeks.

Single GWs as they are scheduled fixtures.
Double GWs happen when teams have had a previously scheduled match postponed because of weather or involvement in a cup match when a PL fixture should have happened.
Keep an eye out on here and you will get plenty of notice of future DGWs and you can plan accordingly.
Not a stupid Q, GL with your season 🙂

It's the same with KDB who may not start if he wants 2 fast wingers and you will get the joy of Navas instead..

Your question is a little vague but I believe Sterling will start this coming G/W for what it's worth.

I have the option of doing Surman to Ramsey and leaving very little in the bank or doing Eriksen to Ramsey and have money to get Aguero in.

Yeah, we got the joint second highest score out of all the countries across all the groups by my reckoning- Indonesia were the only team who could possibly have beaten us. I very nearly used my AOA chip - would have gotten Alli's points if I had and we'd have beaten them 🙁
