Our next members article of the week turns the spotlight on second-placed Leicester City. After scoring in each of their first 17 league matches, Claudio Ranieri’s side have gone off the boil in the final third, drawing a trio of successive blanks and conceding just once as the festive fixtures take their toll on the Foxes chief protagonists.

The tactic of doubling-up on Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, which proved so successful over the first half of the 2015/16 campaign, is now coming under question by many Fantasy managers. Indeed, with wildcards now in play, the former has been transferred out of over 160,000 FPL sides due to an ongoing groin problem which makes him a slight doubt for next Wednesday’s trip to Tottenham.

With a few days still remaining until next Tuesday’s Gameweek 21 deadline, we delve into the data over the last few fixtures to assess the Foxes performances and to ascertain whether the recent exodus is merited.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    What a great article.

Also, Aguero's goal today is worth a watch if you are deciding on whether to bring him in or not 😉

The last Derby favourite for Wimbledon was a Derry dog Farloe Blitz.

Failed to perform in the final all the same.

I guess, but before the last three Leicester have performed in a majority of their tough fixtures

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 3 months ago

Liverpool, okay bad game away at Anfield

Man City, both sides seemingly happy with 0-0 (Will they be against any other side?)

Bournemouth, shooting was wayward but there in volume as normal, Mahrez was a missed penalty away from a 11 point haul.

No, I'm talking about their tough fixtures prior to their last three.

Lost against Arsenal at home 5-2. Beat Chelsea 2-1. Drew with United 1-1. Beat Everton 3-2.

Now all of a sudden they are doing a lot worse against the bigger sides

              • 12 Years
              10 years, 3 months ago

Yeah but what I'm saying is the City game was unique in the fact Leicester were happy for a close niggly draw and I'm happy to write off the game against Liverpool as a one off. In stark contrast to City, Arsenal were more than happy to take them on at their own game also Everton do the same because their defence is crap and they go for the same approach of we're going to score more than you.

I wouldn't say that Leicester were happy for a draw against City. It was simply a tight game. City usually concede without Kompany so a clean sheet in that game was an anomaly, as was Leicester not scoring.

I'm happy to agree to disagree 🙂

Go for it. I have him since his return from injury and observed him carefully, he's been very poor, if I didn't have more urgent matters to deal with in my team, he'd have been out this week.

Siggy is a good pick, playing as a CF in a 4-3-3.

That's true, I like the idea of having Aguero and feel Kane's next two Leicester and Sunderland are more attractive than Lukaku's City and Chelsea.

If Lukaku is confirmed as struggling or out prior to the City Everton game I think I'll take the plunge, if confirmed fit the decision will be tougher.

I just did this. My value for Kane Iggy and lukaku are all around the same so it was easier for me. I will get lukaku back in for either Kane or Iggy depending on how they do in the next two. But risky but could pay off, fun way to play anyhow for me.

I fully expect Afobe to displace King from Bournemouth's first eleven.

Eddie Howe made a point about King's pace being key to them in the forward position. Afobe is fully of pace and seems a far better finisher than King, they've spent £10m on him too. If he comes in at under £5.5 on FPL he'll be a decent cheap striker option I'm sure.

He was strongly linked with Watford before he agreed to join Bournemouth on loan. From what I've read, and it's only rumour, Watford weren't prepared to offer him guaranteed first team football and that resulted in his move to Watford falling through. As I said only rumour but if it's true I'd anticipate he'd feature quite regularly for Bournemouth.

I've not seen a great deal of Iturbe, but I think he usually plays down the right hand side, I think that's Matt Ritchie's position though and I doubt he'd lose his starting berth ahead of Stanislas so not 100% sure how Howe will integrate him to be honest with you.

Not a big fan of that, considering Moreno has a likely DGW soon. If you can stash & just play him for his easy fixtures him until, it'd be better. Do you have another weak link in defense?

      How's your attack shaping up?

Iggy - Kun - Kane now 🙂 all good.

        hows yours?

when do you predict Liverpool DGW? the rest o my defence is Koscielny, Dier, Dawson & Simpson.

          Nice one.

I'm not sure yet, similar to yours probably.

Seems it may fall between GW25-27, if they win that is 😉 Yeah, checked your rotation out, & it's alright. Don't think a hit is necessary right now.

I don't have hope that West Ham will hold a significantly higher amount of clean sheets than Liverpool. It's just a useless transfer at this point in my opinion.

      coin flip really.

I have Kos, but would rather Bellerin for attacking potential

Wee bit late but thoughts on who to play of
    1) Moreno (ARS)
    or
    2) Bellerina (liv)

Currently on Moreno just cuz he home but Bellerin in better form right especially after 2 non counting FA Cup assists?

Doubt pool will keep a clean sheet. I have more faith in Liverpool conceding than liverpool not scoring. Therefore I'm going with Monreal over Moreno.

I'd play Bellerín here. Better form, better defense, with a more reliable CB partnership ahead of him, & is facing a weaker attack.

      Foster?

Do we expect Foster to replace Myhill straight away or will Foster be eased back (using U21 matches and the cup replay)?

I own Myhill but have no playing back up - if I did I'd probably go Myhill to Foster, as I don't I'm considering Butland, Courtios and Fabianski. I asked the same question earlier today and the generall consensus was a cheap starter (ruling out Butland and Courtois)

        I'm leaning towards Butland.

I'm a firm believer in cheap mid-table options (dumped Butland before his insane run like a true pro :), but I'm tempted by Courtois

He's mid-table, but definitely not cheap! Heh

No. If you are going that route you need backup.

Thee are loads of good keeper options. Butland is pretty good and secure and pretty cheap tbh for what you get. With one transfer you could do worse.

Depends on rotation tbh. In any case, I'd cross that bridge when you get there, do you have another playing GK?

Hennessey. 2 FT with no urgent changes needed this week and Myhill is my only glaring weakness

    Butland (Lloris)
    Dann Bellerin Williams (VVD Targett)
    Ramsey Ozil Mahrez KDB (Alli)
    Ighalo Kane Lukaku

    2.FT 5.4 ITB

Lukaku to Kun and save the other FT?

Would you bring Kun in for a hit?

    Butland
    Kolarov - Alderweireld - Williams
    KDB - Ozil - Payet - Mahrez
    Kane - Lukaku - Ighalo

    Myhill - Alli - Moreno - Francis

    Cheers.
