I've boiled captaincy down to two options:

Arnautovic: looked very sharp against Aston Villa (but then again, who doesn't recently). Now he has another home game against Newcastle, who are just as bad recently as Villa at the back, if not worse. They will still have injuries and no competitive football from the last 18 days. That's a few days more than the standard international break, and we can see how much that can affect teams, especially clubs with very few callups due to lack of sharpness and match fitness. Unfortunately practice matches and extra training aren't enough to try and rectify the problems so soon.

Mahrez: It's been a while since the thought of comfortably giving the armband to Mahrez has crossed our minds. West Brom looked very sloppy at the back under the high pressure of Palace last game and they are sure to face a similar pressure when Leicester roll up tomorrow. Mahrez has punished them before with a brace in the last fixture. Quite simply the combined pace of Vardy and Mahrez is too much for the slow defenders of West Brom. With Brunt out now that adds another problem as McLean will probably be designated to try and deal with Mahrez. Mahrez and Vardy's stats were fairly similar last game, with Mahrez perhaps looking a little more likely to score. Furthermore, Vardy was very poor in the air, winning only 1 of 7 aerial duels. This is what West Brom's defence prime themselves on (supposedly) and I think Ranieri will have Mahrez do more dribbling/ cutting inside than crossing, acting more like the inside forward we came to love more than the wide player we've grown annoyed with lately.

As it stands I'm 60% Arnautovic, 40% Mahrez.

Very similar thinking, but I'd probably go with Vardy over Mahrez purely on Pens.

"looked very sharp" is an overstatement. Despite scoring two goals, Arnie wasn't that involved in the game, I thought Shaqiri played better than Arnie.

I honestly thought Arnie received an awful lot of the ball and was the focus of every ball launched forward from the back.

Shaqiri did play well though, I agree there. More of a creative force than Arnautovic for sure but Arnie looks more likely to score

Maybe Shaq isn't FPL material, his stats against Villa make him a better prospect against Newcastle than Arnie!

Good man. I think Arnie is your man to continue his form, and Newcastle look bloody awful away from home. Mahrez has fallen off the radar as you say, I don't know whether I'd be looking at him as captaincy material, and if you're chasing an ML lead or a high OR Mahrez (C) will pay less dividends than Arnie coming through for you in the same way as he did last week.

Bowstring, do you reckon I'm silly, by your citation above, to be considering Kun (c) over Vardy?

        Captaincy is hard this week

Nothing stopping Kun for getting a hatrick against Liverpool. After 120 minutes yesterday, Liverpool might be exhausted and City might dominate them. City might be exhausted and struggle to score. I simply dunno what the fitness/ performance levels will be like. Kun could pull something from so much football in a short space of time.

It's not that I don't think Kun will score well, I just see too many negative factors for me to be comfortable going with him as (C) over let's say Arnie. As I said though it's a tough call

Note: City haven't beaten Liverpool in open play this season, scoring 2 goals in 180mins of football.. They face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.

Okay cool. So maybe look at Vardy? I know there's lots of negative factors. My only issue with Vardy is that WBA will study how Nor negated them, and Lei do not look great as being a team on the front foot.

But Vardy will get 90 mins. Really tough.

            Thanks for your thoughts, Bowstring

Fair shout. Have been frustrated with both the keepers. Hart can be rotated with Butland fairly well in coming period. Shall I take a hit and get rid of Moreno as well for Arsenal defender? Swansea home looks good to get a CS and then alternate home games post that.

I have no idea what to expect. Probably another cs for SOU...

Not great for Daniels unless 0-0
Spurs leak a goal too much for me.

    Butland
    VVD Daniels Kosc
    Sanchez Payet Barkley Arnie Mahrez
    Vardy Aguero

    McCarthy Kane Wolly Toby

Save my FT and have a benching nightmare this week? Do you think this is right?

WHU have a great home record and Sanchez has Swansea so is getting a last roll of the dice.

Bench one of Sanchez or Payet ahead of Kane

Probably Payet if I do, Swansea do have a great defence.

Are there any articles discussing the best use of all the chips and the wildcard over the last few months? Guessing the wildcard will be before the DGW whenever that is but I'm a little more uncertain over when to use each chip?

BB is when you have a great bench.

Would it be possible for instance, to on a DGW, just pack your team with 15 players playing in the DGW? Or is it more beneficial using one of the other chips in this instance?

          AoA is near useless.
          TC just adds a captain.

You can get 15 in DGW37 probably and only have 1 week left.
          GW35 blanks makes 15 in GW34 harder.

I'm swapping my AOA for a FT hopefully.

Doesn't have to be useless 😉

Arsenal will probably ruin the plan.

I am planning on wildcarding before a DGW to get a good squad for BB. I only need to make 1 or 2 transfer for triple C

This came out at the start of the season: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/07/09/fpl-analysis-assessing-the-three-chips/

I think everyone is triple cap'n'n'n Kun when he has his dgw.

I'm tempted to use the WC gw33, can start offloading players in gw35, maybe even Lei players with their tough last few matches.

What to do? 2.0 ITB, Current team:

    Butland
    Fuchs-Dier-Dann
    Payet-Mahrez-Alli-Ozil
    Aguero-Kane-Vardy
Bench: Elliot, Evans, Cresswell, Hoolahan, one FT.

    A) Cresswell to VVD, bench Dann
    B) Hoolahan to Arnie, bench Alli/Payet or AOA
    C) Save FT

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I fancy Newcastle to get a cleany this weekend.

They absolutely battered Stoke at home, Butland prevented it from being 3 or 4-0 with the performance of the season. Additionally Stoke didn't create an awful lot.

If you have been watching Newcastle games you will know Elliott has been in great form and has pulled out some great saves. Poor defending from the other boys has let him down.

Mbemba and Collo are both returning from injury.

Newcastle have had 2 weeks off and should be fresh.

I fancy the Mags to sneak a 0-2 victory.

I'm a Newcastle fan, sorry for wasting your time....
