Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke grab a goal apiece as Liverpool come from behind to see off Palace at Selhurst Park. Elsewhere, Salomon Rondon maintains his fine recent form by netting West Brom’s only goal against ten-man United at the Hawthorns.

Firmino form continues

In a stunning turn of events, ten-man Liverpool recovered from a one-goal deficit to seal a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the 96th minute.

Roberto Firmino drew the Reds level at the 72-minute mark, meaning he’s now tallied two goals and as many assists in three starts since operating in “the hole” – allaying concerns that his attacking potential would be curtailed by his switch from the lone-striker berth. In fact, no player has contributed to more goals (seven goals, four assists) than the 8.2-priced Brazilian in 2016, underlining his rise to prominence.

Those Fantasy managers in possession of Firmino will likely want to hold onto him ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming blank, considering that Gameweek 34 is a prime option for one of their future doubles.

In the absence of Daniel Sturridge – who was not deemed fit enough to take the field at Selhurst Park – Divock Origi was afforded his second successive start. Christian Benteke later replaced his compatriot and went on to convert from the penalty spot in the dying embers.

Having been sent off for two bookable offences in the capital, James Milner will be sidelined for Liverpool’s Gameweek 31 trip to Southampton, before returning to face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

At the back, Nathaniel Clyne dropped to the bench for the first time this term as Jurgen Klopp allowed the fit-again Jon Flanagan a second straight start, with Alberto Moreno returning to the left-back berth. With rotation looking likely over the run-in, then, many Fantasy managers may be reluctant to invest in the Reds’ rearguard, with Simon Mignolet now perhaps the safest bet.

Eagles fall to defeat

Despite taking the lead through Joe Ledley – who bagged his maiden goal of the campaign – the Eagles were unable to capitalise on their one-man advantage, ultimately extending their winless streak to 12 matches. Given that Palace face off against Leicester, West Ham and Arsenal in a four-match spell beyond their blank next Gameweek, we’re unenthused by their differential potential.

To make matters worse, Yohan Cabaye was replaced at the 70-minute mark because of a knock, rendering him a doubt for the Foxes clash. Alan Pardew is also sweating over the fitness of Connor Wickham- the forward had netted back-to-back braces but missed out through injury yesterday.

Rondon in the goals again

Salomon Rondon – one of our differentials this Gameweek – notched his fourth goal in five starts (Sebastien Pocognoli assist) to guide West Bromwich Albion to their first home victory over Manchester United since the Premier League’s inception. Pitched at 6.5, the Venezuelan frontman is displaying great form of late and is well placed to punish the generous rearguards of Norwich City and Sunderland over the next three Gameweeks (ars, NOR, sun). That Arsenal match is subject to change, of course – if the Gunners prevail against Hull in tomorrow’s FA Cup replay, their weekend trip to the Emirates will need to be rescheduled.

As for the Baggies’ defensive output, they recorded their second clean sheet in four outings. By virtue of his security of starts and offensive threat, Craig Dawson (5.1) – who ranks third among defenders for shots inside the box (23) this term – remains our favoured route into West Brom’s back line, though the right-back was subbed off with a minor foot problem and requires assessing. With regards to their short-term shut-out prospects, the Canaries failure to net in four of the previous six Gameweeks is a positive sign.

Mata off as United stumble

In the wake of their defeat at The Hawthorns, the Red Devils have tasted victory in just one of their last eight road ties. That’s a pertinent fact when you consider that they embark on trips to Manchester City and Spurs in the three Gameweeks following their imminent blank.

Chris Smalling’s return to the starting XI served as a boost to Man United’s defence, yet they proved ill-equipped to compensate for Juan Mata’s dismissal in the 26th minute – the former Chelsea recruit was shown a second yellow card for a cynical foul on Steven Fletcher, ruling him out of an FA Cup encounter against West Ham.

Up top. Marcus Rashford was afforded a third straight start yesterday. Louis van Gaal re-installed Jesse Lingard to the first XI at the expense of Memphis Depay, who had previously started each of the last two – this saw Anthony Martial take up the left flank berth vacated by the Dutchman, with Lingard stationed on the right wing in United’s 4-2-3-1- set-up.

When coming to defenders cheapers isnt always better. Attacking threat is something worth paying the premium for. Imagine

    Smith + Wimmer + Bertrand vs Daniels + Toby A + VVD

    2 + 1 + 1 vs 8 + 7 + 9

For those without access to a calculator thats a 20 point swing for scrimping on at the back.

Agreed - I usually go for at least two premium defenders, although it's not always best.

Yeah, I mean, it's great when you're just visiting, but I can imagine it becoming quite tiring after a while. If I go to London I imagine it will only be for a couple of years before I need to come back up north for a rest.

Depends on a number of factors, London is fantastic, but I imagine it can be quite a lonely city if you don't know anyone here, and it's obviously extortionate. Manchester and Liverpool are great cities.

I do love London, there is so much here, but it is a very high pace of life (that's why we moved away from the centre and to Richmond recently, as it's nice after a day/week working in the City to have a bit of downtime).

Yeah it's quite daunting moving to London. Such a big place and although I have a few friends and a Sister down there, it could be quite lonely at first. Guess I would just have to dive in headfirst and try meet as many new people as possible. The high cost of living is another major downside and would depend on my ability to land a decent job down there I guess. Would be a big leap into the unknown in any case.

I'd advise doing a house share, affordable and the best way to meet new people. The good thing is that most people are in the same situation, so people are very willing to get to know new people. If I'm still here when/if you move, feel free to get in touch for a pint! There are quite a lot of FFSers down here.

Am I correct in thinking that all teams with a blank this week will likely have a double in GW34. Then Man C, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, will have double GWs in GW37 due to the previous blank?

So bench boost would be better used in GW37 for more choice of players, then save triple C for GW37?

Got Kane, Costa & Aguero as my strikers - getting Costa out this week.

Vardy obvious choice to come in, but what other options would you say are worth looking at?

Yeah, I'm hopeful I can still win my own personal mini-league comfortably enough, but I'm down in 11th in the league that I care most about.. behind HVT by about 130 points at this stage (not much shame in that tbf!)

Hey all - another GW30 post, sorry!

I have an XI, but 1 of those is Saylor.. so I clearly need to make a move ^^.
I'll wait til Arsenal play tomorrow but, in any case, here's my team as it stands:

    Butland / Mc
Daniels Fuchs Kompany / Saylor [Dann]
    Mahrez Siggy Eriksen / [Morrison] {Payet}
    Kun Kane Vardy

    1ft, 4.8

    Would you rather:

Get a fifth mid in for Morrison (I'm thinking a 1 week punt on Ritchie because Alli seems to be doubtful), play 3-4-3
Get a fourth defender in for Dann (not sure who yet!) and play 4-3-3?

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah I'll save - might end up having to draft in Ramsey instead (can't afford Sanch/Ozil, unless I remove Payet which I don't want to do - think he's fixture proof) for Morrison to cover Arsenal if they lose.

I was thinking Alli and Spurs triple up was a good option actually. It really depends on if he's fit. The only other thing is the potential benching headache the next week... but if (when?) Spurs maul Villa it'll be alright I'm sure!

Pochettino admitted that Alli has some problems with knee and ankle. I know he will rest in Europa as he is suspended but it is a risk he won't play or won't start the game against Villa. It is probably the easiest away fixture they can have, so anybody may play instead of Alli

I think the dynamic of the Villa vs Spurs match swings it in a tottenham assets favour, Villa surely cannot sit deep like an away team and try and counter, they don't have the players to do that. As the home team, they will be expected to attack. The city game is slightly different, norwich have been relatively tight at home and although City will like come out with the win, Kane/Alli have a higher celing of potential points. I'm going for Kane

Sir Viv's birthday today and I've just seen this amazing stat!

Richards starred in the West Indies side that did not lose a single Test series between 1980 and 1995.

Now that's what you call domination.

Very true. When you have a pace attack like they had I guess batting was a lot more relaxed as you knew they could just blow the opposition away with the ball.

I loved watching Carl Hooper and Richie Richardson bat as well.

Faaaakkk...just noticed that my wife's 30th birthday is in two weeks 😐 She probably expect something special and I'm really poor at buying gifts. I know she wants Luis Vuitton handbag but paying +1000€ for it is just pure madness.

Any ideas? Maybe taking her to weekend trip to London/Berlin/Copenhagen?

I'm not chasing, I'm in the lead by 40 in one and 50 in the other ML.

However, I am reading people's thoughts on here - Which I appericate

I'm surprised people thinks Alli as a 'risky' Captain choice.
    I would've though he'd be a 'safe' choice.

I may just switch to Aguero Captain now - seeing as I'm not 'chasing'

Nah don't change your game just because you're in the lead, that's how to lose a lead.

Your own methods put you 40 points in front, so keep playing that way.

I'm struggling between Mahrez (overlooked by many for some reason) and Alli (safe enough alright).

Hmmmm. I'm almost hoping for a blank, as I have a fairly strong team playing eve without ARS players, which might give me an advantage

Let's not lose focus people. We need to stay ahead of the curve. Start looking for Ali replacement for GW 32->.

I haven't started him for the last 2 weeks, and it seems this week when everyone needs him he might not play.

Why? Because he'll be involved in Europe? England games?

-It seems he has been overplayed/not fully fit at the moment
        -15pts in his last 5 Gw's
-I've got bigger fish to fry with the upcoming DGW's

He was great at the beginning, amassing points and moving my TV in the right direction.

        Time to part ways. Soon.

      I agree with this

Alli to a DGW player is my thinking
