Sunday’s opening salvo delivers a pair of intriguing match-ups: there’s more than local pride at stake as the relegation-threatened Newcastle and Sunderland scrap it out at St James’ Park, while Southampton play host to an effervescent Liverpool outfit.

The Black Cats emerged victorious in the last six Tyne-Wear derbies but have registered a solitary win in their previous eight outings. That being said, only three teams mustered more attempts than Sunderland (62) in their past four head-to-heads, which bodes well for their attacking potential. Shifting our focus onto the Magpies, they managed a paltry three goals in their previous six outings and have just one clean sheet to their name in 14 fixtures.

At the Stadium of Light, Southampton will strive to stifle a Reds side that racked up 13 goals in their last quartet of matches. Balancing out their attacking exploits, Jurgen Klopp’s outfit also conceded the joint-second-fewest goals (three), second-fewest shots inside the box (16) and joint-second-fewest big chances (three). Investors in Liverpool’s defence will draw encouragement from the fact that Saints posted just six goals across the last seven Gameweeks.

Trying to pick 2 Arse mids is tricky. I quite fancy Ozil and Ramsey or Sanchez and Ramsey. Not sold on Sanchez so might go the cheaper option.

Still considering a DGW lite. Keeping players like Mahrez, Simpson & Kane and not buying players for the sake of it If I don't want them.

BB is practically 4 more players. Second keeper and 2 defenders more. I think people are overestimaging the bench boost

P.S. Good morning TM sunshine 😉

        1. Worzel Gummidge
          10 years, 4 months ago

Not practically. It IS 4 more players. All mi e will have a DGW as well so it is really 8.

i've had 16 double figure scores on the bench highest of 25pts.
average just over 10pts per GW.
I think with proper bench planning for a DGW I can get at least 30pts extra.

Picking the last 2 defenders to complete my DGW WC is annoying. Have Rojo, Clichy and Bellerin. Before anyone says rotation I think Rojo and Clichy will play both. Maxed out on Pool.

    Two questions,

    (1) Is Sakho nailed on? Sktel, Lovren, Sakho, Caulker and Toure all eligible for that position so makes me uneasy getting him

    (2) Is Elliot a safer bet over Robles with Tim Howard back to full fitness

    1. TheSaint
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Forget Caulker Skrtel Toure. Go with Lovren (bit expensive) or Sakho. To be honest, Id get Mignolet because he is the only one thats nailed on.

If you get Migs, then dont bother with Elliot or Robles. Get Jagelka and forget Newcastle, they keep a clean sheet to save there lives.

What about Bolasie for a cheap midfielder for those wildcarding gw33.

Playing oop, has Norwich gw33. Fixtures aren't great for the DGW, but at his price of 6.0 not sure there's much better options.
