It’s time to drop into the Weekly Shop for our final Wednesday article, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Crystal Palace travel to Upton Park where West Ham have been resilient of late, keeping five clean sheets in seven home matches. With 15 saves and five bonus points over his last four appearances, Adrian (FantasyBet 5m, DraftKings $4,000) could be worth the extra investment compared to more budget-friendly keeper options. In midfield, Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $8,600) carried his league form into the international friendlies by netting a trademark free-kick against Russia, and the Frenchman’s two goals and four assists in five make him difficult to ignore.

Chelsea will be optimistic of extending their 14-match unbeaten league run when they visit Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime. While the Blues have been porous at Stamford Bridge, they have four clean sheets in six on the road and Branislav Ivanovic (FantasyBet 6.5m, DraftKings $4,100) offers the opportunity of points at both ends of the pitch against a team destined for the Championship.

Arsenal’s 2-0 victory at Goodison Park was a promising result for those considering investment in the Gunners ahead of Watford’s visit. The Hornets travel to the Emirates with a single shut-out in nine away trips and Hector Bellerin (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $4,200) offers the form route into the hosts’ rearguard with three assists over the last two outings.

In midfield, picking between Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 9.5m, DraftKings $8,000) and Alexis Sanchez (FantasyBet 11m, DraftKings Forward $7,800) is once again a conundrum. The former has been more consistent in the long-term but the Chilean’s goal and a pair of assists over the last three hints at a return to form. A potentially rewarding and cheaper alternative has emerged further up the field, though, with Danny Welbeck (FantasyBet 7m, DraftKings $5,500) bagging three goals and an assist in five since returning from injury.

Sergio Aguero (FantasyBet 13m, DraftKings $8,800) may have blanked in three of his last four outings but travels to a Bournemouth team that have leaked six goals over their previous three. Despite his recent toils, the Argentine has fired 14 attempts in the box over the last four – joint-top along with Harry Kane. With City still limited by injuries in midfield, he may well be paired with Wilfried Bony (FantasyBet 8m, DraftKings $4,900) once again. While the Ivorian has not been on the pitch as much as Aguero, his 11 attempts in the box compares favourably, earning the forward a high placing in Jonty’s Goals Imminent table.

Poundstretchers

An injury to Joe Hart should see Willy Caballero (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $2,900) earn a rare stint between the sticks as City travel to Bournemouth. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have allowed their opponents a mere 11 shots inside the box in the last four – less than any other side.

Norwich are looking to chalk up a third straight clean sheet as relegation rivals Newcastle roll up to Carrow Road. Timm Klose’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $2,400) defensive displays have been key to the Canaries improvement, with the centre-half earning five bonus points in the last two Gameweeks. Wes Hoolahan (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,800) has chipped in with two goals and a pair of assists in his last four home appearances and looks a value option amongst Alex Neil’s attack.

After three successive draws, Sunderland will be hoping to give their survival bid a shot in the arm as West Brom visit the Stadium of Light. Patrick van Aanholt’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) five goals from defence this term is only equalled by Scott Dann, Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $5,400) continues to return some promising attacking numbers, while Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m, DraftKings $4,700) has scored in back-to-back outings and also looks a good value option against the Baggies, who have kept a single clean sheet in four matches.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

I thought with Man City having games in 33 and 35 and a double GW34 that they would be a shoo in for 3 players in my WC, but I'm just not seeing who else to get other than Aguero?

Are others still getting 3? Who are you getting?

I'm thinking of just Aguero and Hart at the moment (fitness dependent)

Aguero and Yaya perhps. Not touching their defs. Either too expensive or rotation threat.

I down graded Sanchez to Ozil to upgrade clichy to Othemendi. I wanted MCI defence and clichy rotation was nagging me too much considering I also have Gabriel and Sakho (LIV) both of whom are probably rotation risk. I don't like Yaya. KDB would be interesting differential but I have Ozil, Mahrez, Coutinho, Payet and Antonio and I don't want to switch anyone

Just do the boring/perfect transfer Eriksen - > Payet (C) and bench Alli? Or anything else you would sort? WC next week. .1 FT and .7 banked.

    Hart
    Bellerin Huth Dawson
    Ozil Arnautovic Mahrez Alli
    Kane Aguero Vardy

    Hennesey Eriksen Williams Francis

Do it This Week and Save the FT the next week to get 2 FTs for GW34...maximize on DGW 33 and 34

So I've been thinking about when to WC (a lot) and, trying to keep things simple, if WCing in 33 with a view to maximising DGWers and minimising hits, we can only have a maximum of 5 GW35 outfield blankers in our squads (and be committed to using FTs from GW34-35 to remove 2 of them).

Assuming then that we load up on CPL/EVE players to make the most of their double double, that means there are 0 places available for MUN/WHU/WAT assets, i.e. no room for the likes of Payet, Smalling, DDG, Antonio, Lanzini, Iggy or Deeney(!). Even if we reduce our EVE/CPL outfield players by 2, that still only leaves room for say a Payet and Smalling - does this really justify an early WC, even when most already have Payet?

Considering (i) the poor form of CPL, (ii) the poor fixtures for MUN/WHU in 33 (and the 35 blank), (iii) the lack of LEI and TOT players for 33 and 35, (v) the fact that 34 looks best suited for a TC, (v) the likely rotation for those teams in the FA cup semis, and (vi) the inability to really maximise quality DGWers due to the 35 blank, I'm really not convinced an early WC is the way to go.

Using the below FTs from now until 35 I can get what looks a decent team for all of 33-35 with no hits, before unleashing the WC in 36 with no blanks or LEI/TOT FOMO. Sure, I may have a few less DGWers, but there are only a couple I'd be worried about not owning.

    GW32: Eriksen -> Ozil
    GW33: Kompany & Kane -> Sakho & Lukaku
    GW34: Arnie -> Firmino/Payet
    GW35: Elliot -> Mignolet

    Current squad:

    Hennessey, Elliot
    Bellerin, Kompany, Wolly, JEvans, Simpson
    Sanchez, Mahrez, Eriksen, Arnie, Alli
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy
    Bank 1.3m, 2FT

Interested to hear your thoughts, DZ!

I'm going for a GW36 WC and I am quite convinced it is the way to go..
I would try to get Sanchez instead of Ozil...rest moves look good..

Instead of Mignolet you can go for Darlow or Robles..

Cheers. I already have Sanchez so am going big on ARS attack 🙂

Migs (NEW) could also be Forster (avl) in 35 - the Elliot injury means I have no keeper that week so kinda makes sense to use my FT to get one.

Agree with your plan. Much easier to lose all tot and lei players and go all in on DGWers for the last three games given the fixture list.

If you nail the triple captain correctly, don't think you'll lose much ground on the bench boosters in 34.

Would bring in Payet this week though, and Ozil for 34.

Cheers. The problem with Payet is that if getting Lukaku as well (which seems a no brainer) then in 35 I either need to:

        i) use my FT in 35 to remove Payet/Lukaku - this means no keeper
ii) change keeper as planned but have to start Wolly (mcy) or JEvans (tot), or
iii) take a 4 point hit and do both of the above. Elliot & Lukaku -> Lloris & Pelle could be good.

The Payet blank vs the Ozil and Firmino better DGW and good 35 is edging me their way as my 2 from the 3.

          Fair enough.

Yeah, it's a minefield trying to create a solid GW33, 34 and 35 team without resorting to hits or the wildcard!

Good luck, hopefully the Arsenal attack starts clicking again.

I am seriously considering Ozil for captaincy this week as Watford seem to be coasting in the league now

If you scatter x2 SGW players in there (eg Mahrez & Kane)

With no transfer in 34, and a WC in 32 you can get..

      1 pal
      3 eve
      1 Utd
      1 WHM (Payet)

Just adding to your thread Jinny, my issue is I have NO Everton, No Payet so I think to stay in the mix WC is necessary in my circumstances...

I'm just wary of more rotation later on, I know this may prove to be a myth but let's see...

Yeah, WCing this week gets you an extra FT (and therefore an extra 33 DGWer), but it also means you have 3 eve and 1 cpl for their tough fixtures this week AND you run the risk of another week of potential injuries/bans that could scupper your GW34 double plan.

I also have no EVE and no Payet, but I do have 2FT this week, which helps. In your plans, will you be bringing in CHE/SUN players in 35? This is another factor I didn't like about the early WC which I forgot to mention above.

That being said, I think both routes have their merits and a lot depends on current squads, but I'm back in the 36 camp. Best of luck!

It's priming for the GW35 blank though, gives you the opportunity to have an Eve/Palace player and switch to a Man City/WBA/Liverpool/Newc for GW34

So I stupidly don't have my WC left but have drafted the below for GW 35 which I can get taking a 4 point hit in both GW34 and GW35.

A little worried about no United or WHam defence and am lumped with Yaya (already have him). I intend to bench boost! Thoughts?

    ROBLES, HENESSEY

    AGUERO, LUKAKU, Kane

My every wildcard draft ends up having either Mitrovic or Welbeck if I want atleast 10 players for gw35.

Is Barkley must have for gw33 or is Lukaku and Robles enough for dgw33? Is Özil enough attacking coverage from both Arsenal and ManU for gws33-35?

They could be, but Barkley for x2 DGW seems like the right thing to do.

Mark's WC strategy is now clear. Occasional visitors will return tomorrow and become disoriented by the new site. They'll mess up their own WC selection while Mark and his team charge up the ranks.

I suppose it's one way to get that top 10k rank.

Quick question lads, currently on a WC and any draft I put up, I get comments regarding the likes of Rojo and Gabriel not being nailed etc.

Is it worth downgrading a Cout/Firmino or Barkley to a Milner/Lallana or Lennon for example in order to upgrade the DF's to either Smalling or Bellerin/Kosceilny???

My thought process would be to get the attacking players I think will score the most points and hope for the best with the DF.

    Comments appreciated.

people love to critique and its a game of opinions- identify your target and tactics -safe/risky/chasing-and stick with your opinions.
I'm wildcarding this week and i'm comfortable enough with my ML+OR,so safety for me-I like arsenal fixtures;I like klose as a defensive enabler and I want the safety of kane;luka and kun up front .
      Good luck

To be honest, after getting 7 green arrows in a row I have jumped from 1.25m to just inside the 500K mark. I'm a good 80 points out of the money prizes in my cash leagues so am thinking of throwing caution to the wind and going for it. Cheers for your thoughts bud

Payet is a must, and Ozil if you don't have Sanchez.

    Rojo. Talk to me.

He's first choice but there's rumours and all that. Will it affect him from being played?

      In the paper yesterday....

Defender Marcos Rojo, 26, will be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer, with the club willing to listen to offers for the Argentina international. (Daily Mirror)

      Could be just gossip though

Yeah read about it which made me worry Evs.

He seems to be first choice and plays whenever fit. There's risk of rotation, yeah, but with any other big squad there always is.

But that gossip though.. What you reckon? Should I go safer with Smalling or DDG?
Or it's just all talk so nothing's really happening

Upgrading em means I can't do an EVE/CPL midfield punt for GW33..

Seems safer with smalling but waste of cash, atm I'm going Rojo but I'm preparing myself for the worse

going with DDG (5.7) seems a better strategy, no?

Yeah waste of cash indeed. Most likely will stick with Rojo and hope he plays at least through GW 34.
An easy switch to Azpi if it all goes poo. 😀

Good morning, a quick question about the new site. Is there a way of finding out how long it was since a comment was posted. i.e. At the end of each post on the old site it always gave the info Posted 2 hrs 52 mins etc.

The reason I ask is each morning I like to find the risers and fallers from the night before. If I got up at 6 am or 7 am it meant I could just check who posted 4 hrs or 5 hrs previous and find the info (2.15 am each morn its posted).

Maybe there is an easier way of doing this that I am missing??

    Thanks

I'm looking at DDG / Robles combo. Yes no fix in 35 but spread out over 3 weeks 33-35 have more fix than DDG/Darlow.
    Wk 33-35
    DDG/Robles = 6 fix. Better fix
    DDG/Darlow= 6 fix
    Robles/Darlow= 7 fix
Robles/Mignolet=7fix ( don't want Migs. Would mean doubling on Liv defence)
    Boils down to
Darlow wk 35 fix Liverpool away.
Robles wk 33 fix Palace away.

    Thoughts?

Selling Mahrez 7 gws ago and buying him back 4 gws ago has bit my arse big time. Missed his three assist during that time and value lost aswell. Would have been happy to keep him for 5.6 that I paid in gw2.

    Bellerin Kosc Simpson Rojo Sakho
    Sanchez Payet Barkley Firmino Sissoko
    Aguero Kane Lukaku

    WC33
GW 34 BB & carry FT
    GW 35 x2 FT for GW 36/37

    Thoughts please?

Very good, not too fussed on Sissoko. Rather you keep Mahrez

Sanchez could do well but cost so much.
Double ARS defence cheaper than Sanchez,Ozil.

I've gone for Ozil and Sanchez. Prefer the attacking side of Arse when chasing the title. 3 Arse required with their fixtures though and double defence could reap rewards. I didn't want to be scrambling do Sanchez if he smashes it in the next week or so, I'd rather have and sell than not have and need, but that's just me.

Need a better GK this week, unless I have to play gomes (ars)
    SO
    A) Hart+Siggy -> Payet, Mannonne (WBA)
    B) Hart+Siggy -> Courtois, Lanzini/Antonio
    C) Other?

Might even cap Payet if I bring him in.

    2FTs, 0.3 ITB, WCing GW33

    Team in full:
    Hart* Gomes
    Monreal Williams Simpson Targett Alder*
    Mahrez Ozil Siggy Alli Firmino*
    Aguero Kane Vardy
