There are two key lunchtime kick-offs to consider this afternoon, with Bournemouth hosting Liverpool and West Ham United making the trip to Leicester City. The Cherries will do well to stifle a Reds outfit that has discovered its attacking groove, while the Hammers could extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches with a result against Claudio Ranieri’s runaway leaders.

Bournemouth have work to do on the attacking front, given that they ranked fourth-bottom for attempts (37) and joint-third-bottom for shots on target (nine) across their previous four outings. No side shipped more goals (10) than Eddie Howe’s outfit during that period, which will be music to the ears of Fantasy managers that have invested in a Liverpool team that has amassed 18 goals in their last six match-ups.

Leicester have done just enough on the attacking front of late and relied upon their impervious defence to secure victories: the Foxes conceded zero goals and the joint-second fewest big chances (three) in their last four outings. That being said, the East Midlanders have their work cut out against a Hammers squad that ranked second for goals (10), third for attempts (67) and third for shots inside the box (41) across their previous four fixtures.

    Leicester vs West Ham

    55' Fuchs goal, no assist

56' Lanzini comes on for Moses as West Ham look for a way back into the game

61' Fuchs comes off with a slight knock. Just to be safe

    67' Lanzini goal Payet assist

    76' Lanzini goal Payet assist

    90+4 Lanzini goal Payet assist

    Lanzini 3bps
    Payet 2bps
    Fuchs 1bps

When is a good week to Bench Boost?

Just being the biggest DGW of the season doesn't qualify it for BB. I would suggest using it on a gameweek where you can find 15 players who will score a lot of points.

Got to say with so many players always likely not to start, this was the week to triple captain rather than bench boost.

Easy in hindsight but Milner/Coutinho/Origi/Clyne/Moreno were all a massive rotation risk, with the CBs Sakho and Lovren less so.

Only real sympathy for Migs owners..

Clyne has missed like 1 game, right? I felt I was paying for safety. Mis-informed I guess

Precisely why I'd bought Clyne in - only missed one game where he was available. Wouldn't call him or Milner a rotation risk tbh (don't own Milner).

        1. istanbul05
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 11 months ago

Full backs normally are a higher rotation risk than the CBs, and he was an injury waiting to happen if he continued playing all the games.

I can't remember the exact numbers, but Clyne has barely had a rest all season, and had exceeded his previous record minutes in a season by Feb I think

For sure. In hindsight, massive errors made by all of us with our WC 33 and bb 34 strategy. It didn't pan out in terms of the most important criterion, playing time. Ugh.

It is interesting from Pool point of view. Clearly Klopp is basically targeting the Europa League and not minding too much on where they finish in the league. Seems he's been given a free pass on league position this year.

    1. istanbul05
      • 12 Years

This whole season was a free pass to be honest, but he (and many fans) would happily sacrifice a few league places for a better chance at EL glory/CL qualification

Yeah, it is easier in hindsight I guess but I avoided Coutinho/Milner/Sturridge for this exact reason. Saying that I do have Sakho..

Europa League place means a lot of games next season. Only have to look at what Leicester have been able to do to see how beneficial fewer games are.

Its unfortunate but I think those saying they'll take a break next year need to relax a little bit. I guess it is hugely frustrating seeing all that planning go to waste but it's what makes FPL exciting when these things happen.

In hindsight, TC Aguero would have easily outdone BB this gameweek - it happens. Part of the problem is a lot of people were steered by the "community" view of how to play it, and the community view backfired. Win some, lose some in FPL. All part of the magic of the game (I'm saying this after having a bad season).

Precisely. Results happen over the season. Admittedly it's been a (very) strange season, but players on here are still doing pretty well compared to the vast majority of the game.

I was steered by the scoutcast. I didn't consider triple captain before I watched it, then I saw my not so good bench of clichy bolasie etc. So I think we do learn from the community too
