No more no less. Three is the magic number.

In a week where we ponder shifting to a “power three” in our line-ups, the ScoutCast is reduced to its own Tri-force, as Jonty and Andy join me as part of a skeleton crew for this latest episode.

Don’t worry, somehow we still manage to string things out for 80 minutes. After all, there is much to discuss, not least the current emphasis on the big strikers and the demise of Bobby Firmino – the driving force behind my apparently ill-time Wildcard.

Talking of which, with Jonty’s own Wildcard booked in for the international break, he eagerly assesses the forthcoming “fixture swing” that promotes investment in Man City and Chelsea, among others.

Elsewhere your community questions guide us to examine the latest optimum formation and to check in with “piggy bank” Marcos Alonso’s after his cruel 58th-minute withdrawal in the Potteries.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Kun to Morata, that will give me Kaku Morata Kane, and Miki to Sterling/Silva/Sane next week for City cover? Or would you rather have Jesus up front instead of Morata? There is also Laca to consider...

I don't think there's Laca to consider at all. Morata is a better player who plays for a superior team with better fixtures. I would only consider Kane, Lukaku, Morata, Aguero and Vardy up front. Luckily it seems Aguero's car crash has settled that conundrum for me (although that does push Jesus up in my considerations now)

Fair enough, I want to bring Morata anyway however, Jesus now can also be an interesting option

If you are wildcarding soon (or playing aggressively) then Laca is definitely an option.

Still has 2 v good weeks and this week especially, Arsenal always dominate the wee teams at the emirates.

I'm probably gonna bring in Morata for Kun and Sterling/Sane for Mhki.

Don't want to ditch Kaku or Kane for Jesus.

Guy at work with no football knowledge has asked me to help him off the foot of the table, what transfer should I do for him next week?

35 strong league. 500 character email apology to 250 employees for whoever finishes last.

    Lloris, Nordfeldt
Kolasinac, Bailly, Baines, (D. Luiz, A. Smith)
    Mata, Wilnajdum, Ayew, Groß, Surman
    Lacazette, Morata, Vardy

Wildcard also an option. Any help appreciated.

Cheers lads. Still undecided to use it or not. Had both Jesus and Aguero in team but brought Lukaku in for the former already. Aguero news has me contemplating on using it.

Had I seen Wild Rovers HT it would have saved me asking FPL towers the same yesterday.

(Not that they've replied yet, they're too busy manually changing the price rises / falls )

Prior to the Aguero news I was toying with the idea of using it (already took a hit for Jones this week. Triffic, Rodney) and on the face of it, it seems an even etter idea now ....... except how many points would you expect to hoover up on a DGW that was a sod to plan for ? More than one hit, I suspect

So I'll be keeping that baby dry for (the consiequences of) a rainy day

Yes but this is more for anyone who made transfers already this wk and now faced with holding him or losing a -4. Can always take aguero out Sat afternoon once new gameweek starts.

    5. Tibbles

      My dilemma is this:
      Gwk 6: Aguero Kane Jesus
      Gwk 7: Aguero Kane Lukaku
Planned Gwk 8: Aguero Kane Morata

I don't want morata this wk for a hit. I'd rather lacazette but just think a free hit will let me go with Kane, Lukaku Lacazette this wk, sort out Jones and go for broke on its arsenal and spurs. Then team will resort to Kane Aguero and Jesus up front again and just one transfer to my ideal frontline for few weeks.
      I'm probably overthinking this!!

It seems there is a vendetta against the term 'Cover' on here. What's happened?

Seems strange to look at players on an individual basis and not consider any of the other players in your team. It's done me OK the past few years so I'm probably not going to change!

      1. ACCOUNTING ON CHRIS
        • 12 Years

I'm not sure how it's delusional. Yes one player has no effect on another and they should be assessed individually. But if, for example, you have two city attackers who both score well, but no Chelsea who are scoring well too and the choice is:
        A) get a third man city player
        B) get a Chelsea player

        Surely you go for B?

        1. Cok3y5murf
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 9 months ago

No, I would go for the better pick based on player quality, form and fixtures, regardless of whether he's from City or Chelsea.

In this case, I would show some caution as it's a triple up in attack because we never usually go that far. However, I did own Kane, Alli and Eriksen at the same time at one point last season and it worked well.

But double ups are great. I have Spurs and United double ups with no Chelsea or City and I got 73 points last week. For GW8, I will sell both my United players for City/Chelsea players. Why do I need to cover all teams?

    Davies, Mee, Clark (Jones*, Lowe)
    Salah, Mkhitaryan, Brady, RLC (Carroll)

Gutted for Kun, FPL is a poorer game when he's not around. Am I the only one that finds it strange Pep would allow his player out in Amsterdam a couple of nights before a massive game though? Even though the commute isn't huge, it doesn't seem ideal preparation.

Thinking Aguero to Lacazette to give me the following:

    Eriksen - D. Silva - Groß - Choupo-Moting - Carroll
    Morata - Lukaku - Kane

      Morata.

I am afraid Stones wouldn't play regularly. Lowe has bad fixtures after the break, maybe Simpson with same price but better fixtures.

Backing City (Kun, Silva, Otamendi) and Morata last week, got me a tidy 88 points and my rank went up 1000000 after a poor start.

Using my free hit chip this week to get:

    Hart
    Bavies, Monreal, Smalling
    Eriksen, Mkhi, Ramsey, King
    Kane, Kaku(c), Laca

    Exciting / incontinent times!
