Gameweek 24 concludes at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea City entertain Liverpool at 8pm.

The visitors boast two of the top five captains in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for this round of fixtures, with both Mohamed Salah (13.8%) and Roberto Firmino (3.6%) in exceptional form ahead of their trip to south Wales.

Captained by 19 of the top 100 managers heading into Gameweek 24, Salah has returned double-digits on 10 occasions, with a goal or assist in 13 of his last 14 league appearances.

Firmino, meanwhile, has delivered 46 points across his last five starts, which includes two goals in a 5-0 win over the Swans in Gameweek 20.

The Reds’ rampant form had a marked impact on the FPL market ahead of Saturday’s deadline – in terms of transfers in, both Firmino (275,000) and Salah (233,000), along with team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (111,000), were among the 10 most popular trades.

The latter retains his place on Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet in light of his goal and assist in last Sunday’s win over Man City.

Still only costing 5.7, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s claim as a budget midfield pick is enhanced by a schedule that pits the Merseysiders against Huddersfield, Southampton, West Ham and Newcastle in the subsequent five Gameweeks.

At the other end of the pitch, we’ll get the chance to monitor Virgil van Dijk’s impact on the Reds’ rearguard – the January signing has recovered from a hamstring complaint and starts under Klopp for the first time in a league match.

For the hosts, Jordan Ayew has another opportunity to impress as a budget striker option.

Costing 5.1, he was the fourth most transferred in (154,000+) player for Gameweek 24 – the Ghana international has netted in three of the last five and was also on the scoresheet in last week’s FA Cup replay win over Wolves.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hiya lads, looking for any advice here on any potential moves.

    Have 1FT, 1.4 ITB.

    Pope
    Otamendi - Alonso - Jones
    Lingard - Sterling - Salah - Son - Arnie
    Kane - Firmino
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Krul: Kenny, Ogbonna, DCL

    A) Son + Firmino > Aguero + Shaqiri (-4)
    B) Son & Kane > Aguero + Mahrez (-4)
    C) Son & Firmino > Aguero + Willian (-4)
    D) Any other?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If I had to pick one A.

Alternative; Arnie to Mhiki (for a really wild punt - if you can afford it?)

Too much of a good team to make two changes IMO. I'd just look to make one (Arnie if he's out for a while) and roll the other transfer over

Son, Lingard and Arnie to Willian, Shaqiri and Mahrez -4

    A) Good moves
    B) Bad moves
    C) Avoid the lingard to Willian -4 move and do the other two for free

Went out 48-45. Christensen being 3 min short of the CS was what cost me. And I had Naughton on the bench and played Ogbonna, but who would have predicted Swansea would shut out Liverpool.

Risky. I just don't see Kane blanking (yet still won't bring him in).

Home to Utd, didn't look solid vs Burnley and then you have Arsenal and Liverpool. Both as useful as a sieve holding water when it comes to keeping clean sheets.

I'd have to say Salah, Huddersfield are just looking like absolute whipping boys at the moment. Salah has got his little blip out the way just in time for what i feel will be a grilling with their next match. Firmly with Salah on this.

I've always wondered. When you get a game like Pool v Swans do the attacking team who have 10 players in front of them to break down ever just think. Eff this, give the ball to them and say, come play, knowing that eventually they could break them down as the start to move out.
In my head this doesn't sound dumb, but I've been thinking it for many a game when a top side (City, Chelsea, Pool, Utd) get a team just sit 10 man deep and play this way. It's horrid to watch and ruins the prem for me.

I think the idea of just giving up possession is weird.

With the Swansea mindset if pool gave them the ball and retreated to their own half it could have been a Mexican standoff 🙂

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years

Don't get me wrong I think the same, but if you're 60-70 minutes deep and the bus has been parked all game, why not try it. I'm not saying "give up possession as such" but maybe just don't press as high. Sit a little deeper yourself. You've got better quality across the pitch but only go for it when the counter is on for yourself?

lol! I've always wondered this too. What if Liverpool just gave the ball to Swansea and ran back to the top of their own box and just stood there until Swansea moved up the pitch and then got the ball back and played a long ball over the top to someone..?

        • 9 Years

tbf, that thought has literally gone through my head. Just boot it out for a goal kick and say, come on then, let's have ya and wait for Swans to attack. But SURELY there has to be another option to training ground practice in a real prem game? It's so aggravating for fans.

I'm a Hammers fan but I find myself becoming more of a football fan as time goes on (brother had a dig at me when I applauded one of City's goals against us earlier in the season for it's pure sexiness).

The issue is less Swansea and more Liverpool.

      - No width
      - No skill or trickery
      - Pressing game means opposition don’t commit forward and are forced to go long
      - Wide defenders are not replacement wingers

It is no secret that narrow teams like Liverpool and Spurs rely too much on counter attacking and struggle to breakdown teams that defend in numbers

Coutinho, Hazard, Willian, Sane, Silva, Ozil, Wilshere etc needed in these types of games ....

Don't get me wrong, they could've done so much better, I'm just saying in instances where they can't break teams down, I'm surprised that the "big teams" don't look at inviting the "weaker teams" onto them. Let them play out a little, lure them into a false sense of security.

Have you never heard of counter attacking football? Like when Madrid played Ronaldo and Bale on the wings?

I refer you to my comment just above HOTDOGS FOR TEA.
I am fully aware of counter attacking football and that is all Liverpool left themselves open too last night.
Even City were caught by it and lost their CS.

What I am asking is why top teams sit there and leave themselves open to counter-attacks and try and push through a defence they are clearly struggling to beat. I am asking have they ever considered not pressing so high up the pitch (thus negating any potential counter attacking football) and then breaking on the "weaker" side themselves (thus effectively countering themselves). Sorry if you didn't catch that first time round.

Who do you think will score most points over the next 3 gw's? (Its for a different manager game, basically same point system, but waaaay cheaper transfers, so a punts are more worthwhile)

    A) Firmino + Willian
    B) Kane + Robertson/Chilwell
    C) Salah + Iwobi
    D) Morata + Jones

    Leaning towards A or C..

Hard to believe those atrocities with the Khymer Rouge only happened in the 70s, shocking stuff altogether when you visit the killing fields, museums and jails uses for torturing prisoners! Siem Reap is a nice little town & Ankor Wat is magnificent. Get a 3 day pass for around $60. You will need to hire a tuktuk. You should get one for $20 per day. Go very early in the morning to beat the heat.
If you get time go visit the Tonle Sap lake, it's amazing. Whole villages living on the lake, schools, restaurants, police stations all on boats or buildings on stilts.
I love the capital Phnom Penn, have some friends living there. It's a cool city to hang out in, especially the area near the riverside, with an abundance of restaurants, bars, etc. But when there make sure to do the touristy thing of visiting the killing fields, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and torture prison. It will give you a real feel for what the country has went through. Beware, it's not for the faint hearted and bring a tear to your eye on occasion!

Seems like people were considering Shaqiri even before the news of this potential injury to Arnautovic.

Putting aside thoughts on whether you think Stoke are rubbish etc, is there any particular reason people are considering Shaqiri but not Choupo-Moting?

Stats seem pretty similar. Shaqiri has set-pieces but Choupo-Moting is £0.6m cheaper.

Whoa, that was a really weird round - I semi-intentionally tried to sabotage my team with a -40 point hit (because I was getting obsessed and FPL was sucking up too much time), I only scored 50, but my rank only dropped from 19k to a still reasonable 88k. WTF??? Looks like one way or another I'll have to try harder!

Check in on Friday / Saturday AM each week, read some articles, pop through the comments, don’t think too much and make a simple, sound move with your FT. Set a time you’ll allow for fantasy, hold yourself to it. All about balance.

Cheers, sounds like a good plan. Love reading the articles/comments on here, and don't really follow the templates. It's all about making it a bit more manageable, pleasing yourself, and remembering that in the grand scheme of things it's not so important/not worth obsessing about. Got a few life changes going on at the mo, and hopefully making FPL less consuming but still fun can be one of them.

Even though you would lose 4 points, you would have the ft you would lose next week on getting Alonso in, so it pretty much is Ogbonna(if that is who you're getting rid of) +4 vs Alonso + a ft. Also, Alonso is more than capable of outscoring Ogbonna by 4 or more and more pressing issues could come up.

Gonna give you a C instead of going template.

Alli > Mhiki - I don't know your current OR but why not take a punt. Also that should free up nearly 1M for an upgrade elsewhere?
