Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Who do we think is a better shout overall - Mane or Firmino?

For me Firm, but Im settling on the fact that Mane + Arnie/King provides safer GW1 rollout assurance than Firm + 6.0/6.5 beyond Bilva, Richarlison, the latter I have also.

    Begovic Fabianski
    Mendy TAA Luiz Cedric WB
    Salah Mahrez Rich Miki Stephens
    Aguero King Zaha

    1.5m ITB

    What you think guys?

This is the hardest season I’ve ever had to prepare for. So many options.

    Mahrez + King -> Firmino + B.Silva?
    Mahrez -> Mané?
Is Tosun a better pick than Richarlison? If so, which striker to drop?
    Will TAA start?

Plan to go Aguero -> Abau at GW 3

Driving me crazy!! But feel this is the best balance I’ve come up with so far.

Team looks good, defence similar to my own.
I have TAA at present but face same question, think I will find a way to swap to Rob.
I'd have Tosun over Rich, dropping Zaha. Don't have faith in him, been burned a few times before.

        Thanks for the reply.

I can swap Rich for Mili and Zaha for Tosun.

        Probably do TAA for VVD/Robo.

Seeing as I have the cash it seems a safer bet

Firmino for Auba until GW3? Might even bolster on King for a GW or 2 also? I like it otherwise though, just worth looking at starting GWs.

      I'd go for a 4.5 + 4 goalkeeping combo - rotation rarely works and you'll only be 25-30ish points behind a 6-5.5 priced goalie.

Use 0.5 for an upgrade in defence.

I'd stick with Aubs. Not sure Firminio will get full games to begin with, especially with Europe in mind. Wouldn't be surprised if he shares with Sturridge at West Ham

Anyone feel that TAA at £5m could be £1m well saved* over Robertson at £6m, or is it just too risky with TAA being less of a certain starter with Gomez/Clyne around?

B.Silva maybe risky with the plethora of Man City riches, maybe pick a guarenteed starter. As to who that could be haven't a clue. Sorry

Not sure I'd double up on Eve with the amount of options in that price range. Not sure you can downgrade either tho as the replacement will have to start. Perhaps one of Mane/Firm?

Can't decide between a three or two-man attack...

    Currently on:
    DDG (Hamer)
    VVD / Mendy / Bertrand (Wan-Bis / Peltier)
Salah / Mane / Bilva / Cairney (Neves)
    Aguero / Arnie / Zaha

To get an Aguero / Auba (+4.5) forward line, I'd need to save 1.5m in goal or in defence. Maybe VVD to TAA and Bertrand to Cedric? Or just DDG to Patricio?

    What do you reckon?

    Thanks

Still not convinced with Zaha as a striker, Arnie has tough fixtures that is why I've gone with 3 5 2 . Southampton defensively pre season have been shocking, so would avoid them too. Thinking some Burnley coverage in defence maybe the way to go. DDG to Fabianski maybe last season only 15points between them and it would be 1.5mil extra. Upgrade Hamer to Patricio or another 4.5 and rotate .

Wee side note just dumped Davis to Tarkowski, Bailly To PVA and upgraded Pickford to DeGea , this will probably change after international break , downgrade DeGea to Fabianski and upgrade one of my 6.5 to Pogba (If he stays...lol) and prices don't fluctuate...

Here goes, not 100% template but the World Cup'll do that to you:

    Ederson-Bego
    Robbo-Bertrand-Pereira-Holebas-AWB
    Salah-Sanchez-Mkhi-Gudmundsson-Stephens
    Auba-Zaha-King

Sanchez will likely become a City MID by Week 3/once City's lineup gets established (hahaha).

I started last year with Zaha only to see him injured in GW1 so that makes me nervous but I'd rather start with him than Arnie because fixtures.

    Cheers.

Trippier/Dilva/TAA are questionable starters. I'd reassess.

Not in love with those GKers.

No Salah is risky to start with as sooooo many will have him capped. Your chances of looking up the leader board are far greater than looking down it.

      I'd want a stronger/established 4th mid, with a 4.5 5th MID.

    A or B?

    A) Begovic/Fabianski
    Robertson/PvA/Mendy (Peltier/WB)
    Salah/Mane/Jota/Richarlison (Gunnarson)
    Aguero/Zaha/Arnautovic

    B)Begovic/Fabianski
    Mendy/PvA/Tarkowski (Peltier/WB)
    Salah/Mane/Jota/Cairney (Gunnarson)
    Aguero/Firmino/Zaha

Both leave 0.5ITB to do Mane>KDB when available. GK can be changed but sticking to 9.5m

      A...just

      But I'd be concerned about relying on Jota/Richarlison as 3/4 MIDs. I'd consider Zaha->King, Rich->Townsend, Jota->Siggy.

I've never been keen on a week MF but might be doing it myself this year. Would throw caution over 2x defenders for the same team, can lose that clean sheet potential for both in 1 hit. CM more guaranteed then Masuaku just incase?

Which team would you pick and why?
    (A)

    Patrico
    Robertson - Luiz - Shaw
    Salah - Ricarlison - Bsilva - Mane
    Zaha - Mitrovic - Aguero

    1.5m ITB

The money ITB gives me flexibility to upgrade players for GW2 e.g Bsilva > Mahrez / Aguero > Kane depending on how GW1 turns out.

    (B)

    Lloris
    Robertson - Azpilicueta - Mendy - Shaw
    Salah - Ricarlison - Bsilva - Mane
    Mitrovic - Aguero

I feel this one is more restrictive. If Kane starts firing i would likely need to use my wildcard to fit him in.

    Any suggestions are most welcomed.

    Thanks!

    G2G?
Pretty much set on this unless anyone can sway me.

    Ederson
    Robertson / Luiz / Kabasele
    Salah / Mane / B Silva / Richarlison
    Aguero / Arnie / King

Hamer / Cairney / Peltier / Wan Bissaka

0.5 itb, all feedback is appreciated, thanks all.

      Think there's better 5.5 options out there than Luiz (PVA/Coleman/even a bunch of 5.0 - Bertrand/Sakho/etc).

      Let Chelsea get settled.

I feel like Luiz at 5.5 mil is too good to pass up on.

Really like it other than Luiz.

Got a plan to get BSilva out quickly?

I like the look of Mkhitaryan at 7.0 mil, that would free up 1 mil, honestly not 100% sure atm.

Would adore a rating on this... Any weak spots?

    Foster
    VVD - Mendy - Cedric
    Sanchez - Salah - Mane - Cairney
    Aguero - Zaha - King

    Hamer - CHO - AWB - Peltier

Looks good to me, like how you’ve managed to fit Sanchez in.

    RMT
    Fairly happy now
    Pickford
    Mendy, Luiz, TAA,
    Salah(C), Mane, Jota, Richarlson, Redmond
    Aguero (V), Morata

    Subs: Steklenburg, Boly, Bissaka, Kamara

0.5 ITB to swap Morata to Lacazette in a couple of games.

Currently got £2m ITB. Wondering where to spend it. MF is a little bit weak, but I'm not sure there are many decent £7.5-9m options.

    Ederson - Foster
    Robertson - Mendy - Coleman - Wan-Bissaka - Bednerak
    Mane - BSilva - Richarlison - Jota - Wilshere
    Auba - Firmino - Tosun

    Bsilva to Sane?
Thoughts on Digne v Coleman? Too early to tell if he'll get minutes?

Think I want to get de Bruyne eventually, so whatever I do I want to make it possible to get him without too much fiddling.

    Thanks!

Going without Salah is brave.. going without Salah, Aguero or Sanchez is beyond brave.......

I have no interest in Sanchez at the moment as United seem in disarray. I haven't liked how my Salah teams look, but it's obviously a concern.

I'd like Aguero, but I'm backing Auba to smash it - plus I'm going to get KDB in a couple of weeks.

The other option would be BSilva to someone like Mkhitaryan and Firmino to Aguero, but not convinced by that especially for GW1.
